nah, he was just a kid at that time, the oldest tilaawat of any qari ive got is of qari basit, in the same mosque (Badsahi Masjid Lahore) but ten years later in 1971 , sorry, I heard this story from my dad, he was present at the time (he was about 10 years old)

yes Abdul Basit has a beter voice but they have very contrasting styles. In their own rights they are champions, Qari Sadaqat Qiraat appeals to a different audience but aspects, like his control are unbeatable, but Basit is the best
in 2005, when I was in pindi (Pak) HE was invited to Masjd Abdur Rahman, and it was an awsome mihfil, on the spot some one can observe physically the blissings of Almighty Allah, during his recitatin...if I get back there, I 'll present it hereby..
but i tell you one thing if you heard him in 2005 imagine him about three to four times better and thats how he was in hs prime, when i heard for first time live in 2000, he recited and it went straight to my heart, he was just awesome, a miss the Qari he used to be, now a day he stil can produce a bit of magic now and again, but i tell you one thing he never fails to seem to amaze me

Brother Bilal I am sorry to say but you are slightly mistaken Qari sadaqat does not have the best control, style and construction of Tilawat ever.A. the reason being that Qari abdal basit is far better his stlye, pitch, technique the way he does his madds
i have plenty of stuff of Qari Sadaqat in his prime but do nt wish to share it with people like you. every1 at some point have to loose their brilliance nd also even today his style is still better than most. if you have a problem with my comments say it to me not Qari Sadaqat cos as far as he is concerned he has made an ever lastin mark on qiraat and change the standard forever.
I belive Qari Sadaqat in his prime had the best contol and style as well as a very beautiful voice. He has such construction of a piece of Qiraat and so is wonderful to listen to. I believe he is better any Qari I have heard. Finally I'd like to say that I believe Qari Abdul Basit had the best voice ever, but Qari Sadaqat had the best control, style and construction of Tilawat ever and the combination of these makes him one of the greatest ever!
qari sadaqat ali truly is one of the greatest recitators of qur'an al-karim i have EVER heard. i think, even for a non muslim it'd be hard not to start to cry when listening to him live!
if any muslim wants to show a non muslim the beauty of qur'an al-karim he just has to let him listen to qari sadaqat alis recitation of one single sura. it will be new and exciting for the non muslim. and overwhelming for both of them...

There are loads of different recitiations of Surah Duha by Sheikh Basit on youtube. From ass early as the 1950's to 1980's. Jazakallah.
