  • Food is measured in calories. Exercise, body functions like breathing, pumping blood, etc ( your metabolic rate) any excess calories are saved in the body as fat. Intake less calories, spend more = weight loss. vice versa = weight gain. junk food is high calorie and is one reason why ppl overeat.

They eat rice, tofu, meat, fish, and vegetables, which are the ingredients of chankonabe. (Each stable has its own unique style of chankonabe.) This guy MUST know that, so I have no idea how he came to the conclusion he did.

  • @GiantMountain no that isn't true. as the vast majority of people on low fat raw vegan diets will tell you from personal experience, many of whom eat thousands of calories more than they burn. If a calorie was simply a calorie, then there would be no such thing as fat or carbs. The body treats them differently.

    don't assume we know every detail about the human body and how it works. clearly, we have a lot to learn.

    I agree man, sumo wrestlers are in fact more healthy (in all aspects) than most avg looking obese person. they may look obese but they have tremendous strength, flexibility and stamina. their blood samples are as healthy as a fit person. Although they eat a lot and have a different pattern of eating... they do a lot of training and exercise...

    the presenter's analogy with the sumo's diet is completely irrelevant... he doesnt know what he's talking about (with regards to sumo)

    I had 3 periods of 6 - 8 weeks in my life where I would eat 11,000 - 12,000 calories a day and I did it in 4 meals and snacks ( and 1500 -2000 calories were in a weight gain drink ) and I thought I was going to die.

    I just don't see how they do it. It was rough

  • @Fullperson The general limit for a fullgrown man is said to be around 400 grams of protein, and already by then your sweat will smell stronger due to higher amount of ammonia. Getting more than 400 grams will indeed mistreat your kidneys.

  • @Bruceleesnunchuck Skipping breakfast or other meals will also do another thing - Slow down your metabolism, as he explains here. If you eat NOTHING for the first, say 10, 12 hours of the day, and then stuff 2000 kcal in your mouth you will swell up in fat soon ;)

Skipping breakfast is not detremental to your health as long as you eat a healthy lunch based on vegetables and fruits . The idea that skipping breakfast was horrible for your health was thought up by companies that sell breakfast cereals . Calorie intake is also not very important if you eat healthy foods .

  • @MindofaJedi I have to disagree. Yes, you can place yourself in kethosis if not eating for the first part of the day effectively burning fat, but that is together with a lowcaloric diet overall, NOT together with a "sumo" (lol) diet.

    Calories will always be calories though, anything else is made up by the "health"industry. So skipping breakfast and then stuffing you with 2000kcal meals for the rest of the day will make you a fat bum.

  • @Schlook HAHA , yea I guess it would . Truly though I have eaten 4-5,000 calories in a day and not gained any weight . I have also bulked up eating 2,000 calories in a day . It is so impossible to gauge what you are burning and your metabolism can be dramatically altered by the type of food you eat . When eating vegan I can easily run 9 miles , when eating meat I gassed out at 2 . My only concern with calories is that they are nutrient dense . Peace .

  • Thank god! Someone talking about positive eating habits. First, we are carnivores, we're designed that way. Second, eat breakfast. 40% Meat, 20% cmplex carbs, 20% fruits and vegies, 20% fats (meat fats or fruit fats). That is all. This guy is on point.

    40% meat is too much for a balanced diet.

    20% fat is too low.

    This is basically the recommendations regarding the macronutrients:

    *45-55E% carbs (25/38g fiber and <10E% refined sugar)

    *25-35E% fat (<10E% saturated)

    *10-15% protein (Combinate different sources and increase intake if you work out hard)

    E% = Energy percent = % of energy you get from a nutrient compared to the daily intake (fat =9 kcal/g, carbs=4kcal/g, protein=4kcal/g)

    02. Finally, a video on the importance of the first meal of the day. I personally like to start my day with 3 oz. of steak, a four egg omelette (two yolks), a cup of berries, a few glasses of fresh tea and a cigarette. Without it, I just don't feel the same throughout the day.

  • the breakfast thing is SO TRUE!!! for a week i didn't eat breakfast cause i had started a medication for my hypothyroidism that required that i not eat for an hour before or after taking it, and i gained 5 lbs. in that one week!! now i set my alarm an hour early, take the medication, go back to sleep for an hour and then get up at my normal time and eat breakfast. i have since lost the 5 lbs. and feel better in the mornings.

    I'm living in an Asian country, with none of the junk food American posses, I skip breakfast, I exercise when I'm fasted, sometimes I'll even nap after lunch. And guess what, I still manage to maintain/lose weight and never gain. I don't even eat that clean. I'm sure that's probably because I eat rationally.
