  • This is the best version on youtube i think!

  • this is the arrangement my school used but it was faster

  • I live in Germany and the local football club uses this melody as its anthem! ;)

  • Just came across this by chance. I have to say... excellent choir! A group of really good quality voices! Well balanced and very good unity of sound. Would love to hear this group do some opera choruses.

  • The 3 dislikers need to "Dai Dai!"

  • The most wonderful folk song of all time

  • This just gives me chills :)

Can't wait to go to Scotland in May!!

  • the "dai dai" part is way too slow :/

  • The soloist is great! The song is very well done... the only thing I have against it is that they are holding the music in front of them. I have always had a problem with that, because the singers can get caught up in reading their music and they don't pay attention to the director. Not to mention it takes away all face expression. You guys did well despite that :)

  • Very Good Choir but listen to two great tenor voices on Youtube Pfizerpfonics Choir Cork

  • i MIIISSSS THIS SONNG!!!!! I sang the exact same version in my choir last year!!!!!! I'D DO ANYTHING TO PERFORM IT AGAIN!! :):):):):)!!!!

  • The dia part is the greatest. I can't stop singing along with it ever since my choir has been singing it, it just great.

  • I sang this recently with the 2011 South Carolina SATB All-State chorus! I loved it so much! it was probably my favorite song we sang! Aside from the ending piece when the director did an anchor (I'll never forget that)!

  • @TropicalMJ So did I. SATB TENOR.

  • This choir has incredible blending, very nice job!

  • @newgirlintown8 ummmm he doesn't ever actually leave the key although he does get a little bit sharp.

  • @newgirlintown8

He's really not pitchy at all. It could be a wonky recording, but he's centered on his pitch and in the correct key.

  • beautifully performed by choir and soloist alike. Overall, an excellent rendition.

  • Definitely not being selfish or boastful or anything but, my choir is a high school choir and we were pretty amazing. The Dawson County Chamber Singers. Georgia.

  • this is really messy

  • this rendition takes the second section at very close to exactly the recommended tempo of 94. i timed it out at 100. however, i prefer the u of m glee club recording which goes closer to 80. can't argue because 94 is written in the music, but listen to one of their recordings of it on utube and see if you don't agree. it seems to have MORE drive at a slower tempo.

  • Noobs get to sing with sheet music.

  • Great Solos, a little bit sharp though.

and shame on the director---you "TAKE" the high road??? its pronouced "TAK" for the sake of the song LOL. its written on the bottom of the music.

guys should check out the Vancouver Hounor CHoir singing this song on yt, and hear us singing it-----so much better.

  • @newgirlintown8 I don't know what you're listening to, but his pitch is fine. This choir sounds great and the soloist rocks!

  • @newgirlintown8 sounds pretty good to me for an undergraduate singing a cappella

  • not saying that as if i have a big head...because i know many basses who can sing in that type of range

  • @DaKidnc910 That coincides with my own experience: at my school, all the guys have pretty much the same *upper* limit to their "chest voice" range, and the basses are the ones whose *lower* limits are low enough to sing bass notes!

  • I remember singing this song in choir i got the solo and i'm a bass

  • OMG we used to sing this song at my school~!!!!!!! but we're not good as u guys :)

    P.S. I sing second-alto :)

  • You know what this needs? MORE ALTO!!!!!!!!! I also think it would be more artistic if the beginning was at a slower tempo, and every note was shaped.... Just my two cents

  • not that i dont like it i do

however i think it sounds better with just a male chorus singing it

    just my opinion lol

great work on a beautiful song

  • @B34NSLUVZMETAL I can see that

  • pfftch... our high school choir did this version except faster and it totally kicked the ass out of this... not that this choir wasn't good!

  • @German4footg Any footage?

  • At 2:50, man i love the men's part there, that is where the song gets really emotional for me =)

  • I actually wrote the choral arrangement of this :)

  • @pizzaboy1250 Um what? did you even read the beginning title?

  • @MicheVids LOL,yea I'm sorry...Just in a stupid mood

  • our soloists were better! (but I'm at least a little biased.)

the vibrato is kinda killing me... but I must say, we did this arrangement and your guys were much better than ours.

a little fast for my taste. although I loved that rit. at the "highland hills we view" (SSA), we didn't quite get there...

did you know Jonathan Quick is Canadian??? :D

whoa! you did it mixed! I didn't realize that! it sounds good!

  • vocaly, AMAZING!!!!!!

pronunciation, could be much better, my top high school group did this song this past year, and they sang it with a scotish accent, i know it sounds weird, but it really was great!!!! thats the only thing i would have done differently if i was the director

  • That soloist was... above average. Had the nice vibrato going, but I would like some harder consonants. Also, he ended that first solo about a half-step higher than it should have been. I assume he's better now though, seeing as this is two years old.

  • Where is the Scottish feeling of Loch Lomond ?

  • this is a way different peice from what my choir sang

  • My high school recently sang this with an all men choir. Great soloist. The "dais" could've been more "die-ee", but its all a matter of choice. We split the solo and two guys got to sing it. We also sang the "Ye'll take the high road" more like "Ye'll 'tek' the high road" to give it an Irish feel. Great job again.

  • We sang this but our choir sand it much faster and i think it sounds alot better faster but great job!

  • SO GOOD i can't effing wait to teach this piece.

  • my high school choir is better than yours

    you guys breath everywhere.

    wow.

    the women are good though

  • The soloist is good, but as soon as the rest of the choir begins, the first thing I notice is their terrible balance: the basses overpower the other parts.

  • lol Carroll is my last name. Anyways they are really good. I didn't even see that they were using the sheet music until the end, because they sure didn't sound like they were!

  • our choir is singing this too, im so excited it sounds awesome, expecially the dai dai dai part!

  • i have 2 annoyances. 1, i would have liked to see off book, but whatev... 2, the second solo part was overpowered by sopranos in certain bits. Overall though, that was great!

  • Sounds a thousand times better than our choir . :')

  • I absolutely LOVE that "dai" groove section!! We're singing this in the Morehead State Choral Festival next week, I'm so excited!!

  • i thought the sopranos and altos were really really good, and the men were good too, but they didnt really...blend...? i dont know

  • soprani ok!

  • GREAT SONG.

our concert choir sung this last night and it was amazing (: only they added a scottish accent so it sounded super wicked !

  • I have to do this for choir. along with other songs, but i don't like this song T^T I'm a sop2

  • a fav of mine, good job!

  • well, Mr. Ryan McEldowny has a wonderful voice.

  • i think it was good the tempo get wayyyy to fast at the end

  • O.M.G. I can't believe it! This is the same exact version that my choir sang at fesitval and graduation; I haven't been able to find it anywhere! Holy cow. This is the best arrangement of this song. EVER. end of story.

  • i'm gonna have to agree with you on that!

  • Hiya

I was just watching your video and I wanted to say that C.C. Concert Choir-Loch Lomond is a really good video

I love loch lomond myself it is a great place I was in Luss last sunday and recorded an amazing video that you can see on my channel I would love all feedback as well please

Once again this is a great video

  • my choir sang this too i loed it too

  • Awesome! my high school's concert choir sang this song. This arrangement is just so incredibly beautiful I love this song!

  • great soloist. not sure about the rest though..

  • T^T i love this piece

it was my favorite in my choir years :D

  • A few weeks ago, my school's chamber choir did this song. I had a blast singing it! The only thing is that we have a baritone who thinks he's a tenor, and a tenor who doesn't blend (and he's was surprised when my teacher told him that). Other than that, we sounded great! Certainly a hell of a lot better than we did for SATB when the stupid niners and tennies were with us.

  • my schools chamber choir did this song......

everyone, even the ones who wernt in the choir (me) couldnt stop singing it for a week...

  • Mine too! They did it for Fine Arts Week.

  • haha, yea thats exactly what im going through right now

  • We are going to do this song tomorrow for our large group contest. this is by far our best song and we are pretty damn good at it

  • Hurray for the quadruple C! I sang in this choir back in 1986 - glad to hear it is still going strong :)

  • i love the soloists voice.

  • I love it!!!!!

  • Is it me or is the rhythm a little screwy around the soprano entrance after the di's. I agree with others in that it needs to start quieter at the di's if only so your not screaming at the end. really good though.

  • very nice! except the word take is tak obviously and also i would say you should start way way quieter on the dai dai 's in the so you can have a bigger and more dramatic crescendo without over singing by the end. you could imagine it as an army or something marching closer and closer, so it should be almost inaudible at first and grow slowly... but thats just my opinion. otherwise it was really nice.

  • the lyrics need to be "Yeel Tak the high road" [pronounciation] We did a Mens 8 part group for Solo/Ensemble, and we listened to many, many different versions of this song, and we found that this was the most authentic way

  • the second sorpranos are too quiet

  • Needs more tenor at the end...i love the dai dai da dat da dai dai.

  • This is amazing. I am doing it w/ my school concert choir, but we say tak the high road instead of take. It sounds more authentic

  • I'm glad you like the recording. Who says "tak the high road" is more "authentic" sounding than "take the high road"? Perhaps it's just me, but I can't imagine that NOT sounding strange.

  • Chambergrl is talking in terms of accents. the scottish say "tak", at least for this song.

  • it actually sound's alot more authentic when you say tak (like tech). it's how we sing it and it sounds strange to me when they say take.

  • I've done some checking, and it does seem to be true that many sing what you refer to as "tak".

In light of the evidence, I must certainly respect your choice to do it that way, but I stand by my opinion that it sounds strange.

My preference is for the traditionally classical English pronunciation.

  • This is the best rendition of Loch Lomond ive ever heard from a U nited States American choir . And that is from a Scot in Australia . GOD bless you all . Duncan......

  • Hmmm, I love this (:

    Ryan's my cousin.

    the choir sounds amazing.

  • incredible but guys only sounds better on this song

  • I can't believe the sound coming from this group! Maybe it's just that my volume is full blast, but It sounds like this is a choir of hundreds! My chior is also doing this and I cry everytime we sing it because it reminds me of Tristan and Isolde.

  • i'm soo excited to sing this with my choir!!

  • this should be Scotland's national anthem.

  • gives me the shivers every single time :)

  • amazing

  • My school did this song in choir last year. It was everyones favourite. The feeling in this song is just unreal. They sing this so beautifully. :)

  • I really like this choir! But this comment is about the soloist, Ryan McEldowny. Speaking as a former college choir member, soloist, opera and concert singer, I believe that I have never heard a more beautiful, natural, unforced, lyric tenor voice in my 85 years. One of my former voice teachers used to say, "Honey is Money!" This voice is pure honey. Ryan, get some contact lenses, more professional experience, and I think you will be one of the worlds great voices. Please, don't get a big head.

  • this song makes me tear up

  • this is the arrangement we're doing at my high school...i love it! amazing performance!

  • bloody good performance!

my high school school concert choir did this song...this song brings back so many great memories..i love this song...it means so much to me

  • who operated the camera? it´s like being on a ship in a storm :-)

  • Most certainly not I! :)

  • oh wow we're doing this at my high school. we sound good but nothing like this wow awsome!!!!!!!!!!

  • I sang in the Carroll Choir over 4 years ago now and it was an amazing experience. So happy to see the tradition continuing....beautiful performance, simply stunning.

  • That soloist is fantastic. I love this version of the song. My school choir sings this and they are okay, but these guys are clearly better!

  • o.0

    beautiful. just lovely

  • Sweet. WE ROCK!!!
