im 6ft3in 170lbs i ride an 05 ninja 250 (stock) its difficult to get comfortable for the first 5 miles. and the ride position is a bit off but i can ride all day. and go 100mph no problem.
way to go ninjaaaaaa. These people bashing it probably don't even know how to ride a bike properly. they think going in a straight line in their 600s is an achievement. I can smoke them in this 250.
@thegoatofalltime with mods you can get about 110 and sometimes over depending on you're weight. The lighter you are the quicker the bike will accelerate and the less bhp will be needed to top out at top end speeds therefore obtaining a higher top end.
@18oroldermybutt i dont know if you already found an answer to this but im 5'6 and wondered the same thing till i got to sit on one and realized that i fit just fine... i dont have to lean over and extend my arms straight just to reach the handle bars at all. plus i could plant both feet almost flat on the ground. cant wait to get mine
@MendozaRogge I have a female friend that is shorter than you and she was able to ride one just fine. We eventually lowered it for her a little bit to make her more comfortable though.
@endeavor635650 Because most of the comenters on youtube are fat guys living in their parents basement trying to have a life! Im not considered skinny and im 5'11 and 137lbs, ive been 135 since 8th grade (3 years ago)

It just occurred to me that this would be a good bike to mod. Cheap to buy, good bike for a beginner. Add power via a turbo or nitrous or what have you...
i bought a ninja 250 new in 2009. has over 13000 miles on it now and haven't had one problem with it (except 1 wreck). and i run past redline on a regular basis. the rev limiter cuts it off at about 13500RPM
I've got a question. Obviously for all intensive city driving purposes and even short trips on the highway I wont be redlining the bike like you did here. This is probably going to sound like a stupid question, but does red lining the bike do any harm to the engine?
@ForeverLethal This little engine is made to rev high. That's where it makes its power. If you maintain it properly, you can blast the little engine all day long without problems. Now that being said, I wouldn't run flat out for an extended period of time. Running wide open for 20 miles isn't good. lol
@ForeverLethal Yes it can harm/blow the engine. The redline is there to tell you that you are pushing it to the limit of what it can handle and its where stuff will break.
@ForeverLethal actually, the rev limiter is put there to keep you from reving the engine into dangerous rpm territory. they are built and designed to rev high, thats how motorcycle engines are capable of producing the power that they do. they are small displacement engines so they have to be built with shallow stroking engines that rev super high, its what you have to do to get power out of a small engine
@hal2342 That depends how responsible the individual is. I learned on a 500r and personally i think its a great bike to learn on and when you get that down, it still has enough power to please you for a while until you upgrade to say a zx6r or something.
How is the ride, noise, and vibrations when you're cruising at about 60-65mph? I'm looking into getting one of these for commuting and a little fun just like in this video.
@wtf2manynamestaken In stock form, the bike has a great ride to it. The exhaust isn't too loud, ride is relatively smooth for a sport bike, and vibes aren't as noticeable because of the more relaxed riding position.
@wtf2manynamestaken I have a ninja 250, its not a bike to cruise on the highway or fast roads (60-65mph). You can really tell when riding it that it was made to get around town, or to be a starter bike. It gets the job done, and is very reliable. But i've had my license since november and got sick of it about 3 months ago. Can't wait for the restriction to come off of my license so I don't have to ride the ninja anymore.
@wtf2manynamestaken You'll be at 7000-7600rpm at 60-65mph. the foot pegs on vibrate a bit but you'll get used to it after a bit. I'm actually at my girlfriends which is almost 300 miles away and this is my second trip so when I get back home I'm looking at about 1200 miles. I can tell you one thing is that the seat wasn't made for long trips but I'll get used to it I'm sure, as for the bike on long trips she does just fine and I cruise a 65-70mph for hours on end.
@sr1215cl k this chick in a near town is wanting to sell me hers for $1200 dollars. it's an 02 and has 6k miles. she says it needs an engine tune up because it won't idle well. however, i go to school about 3 hours from home and want to ride it to school. possibly taking my girlfriend with me. would this bike be able to take me to school doing 70ish mph? i weigh 180 pounds and gf weighs about 125.

@ForeverForTomorrow Thats a good deal I think and as for the not idling well it may just need the idle adjuster turned down a bit which you can do with you hands, its located on the left side above the shifter pedal about a foot. With you and your girlfriend on it the bike it shouldn't have no problem getting to 70+, I weigh 175 and can go up steep hills at 90+. I've riden to my girlfriends house which is 300miles away 2 times so far and I cruise between 65-70mph and she doesn't have an issue.
@ForeverForTomorrow These bikes can go for many miles at those speed with your girlfriend on the back. The have been guys who have completed the Iron Butt race going 1000 miles a day for 10 days straight and haven't had any issues. If the bike still doesn't idle after the the idle adjuster has been turned down it may just need a valve adjustment which can take about 4 hours to do and that should make it run like new, the owner may just not know about that idle turn adjuster, hope thats the case.
@sr1215cl If I where you I'd take a look at that bike cause its a good price, can anybody second this opinion? BTW these bikes can go 50-60K miles on a engine or more and after that you can always rebuild the engine and go for another 50-60k miles again. I get about 59-63 MPG on my bike. I have a 2008 Ninja 250r but the pre 2008 bikes are just as good almost though I think that statement could open a can of worms so I'll just leave it at that. Good luck!!!! Hope this info helps.

@sr1215cl and if i were to be riding with my girlfriend? think it'd do highway speeds without destroying the engine? haha. we go to college up near kansas city, like 3 hours away, so i wouldnt wanna be reving on it too hard the whole way up. ya know? thanks for the opinion btw.
@ForeverForTomorrow It seems that you have underestimated the ninja 250 because its a 250cc bike. Yes with your girlfriend, yes at highway speeds for 3 hours without destroying the engine. You'll ware out before the bike does. Get it or not I don't really care I have my ninja 250r already and am happy even after the two trips that covered 1200 miles at 65-70mph.
I've got 90 mph out of my Honda NSR 125R, but sadly it's still restricted. I'd love to know what it would do with it de-restricted and with the right gearing ect. but i'm happy as it is. Plus i'm not spending money or the effort when i'll be upgrading in about 6 months anyway.

Please guys, do your self a favor and do not buy a 250. My buddy has a 250 and he loved it for the first month, then it just didn't cut it. They're good to learn on, but just get a 600 and take things slow. Perhaps try to find a manual transmission quad/car to learn the basics on, then you'll pick up on a motorcycle no problem!
@endeavor635650 I'm just saying, and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. My buddy loved his Ninja 250, he just grew out of it fast, as has many people I know. If the bike is perfect for you, then great, good for you! Ride safe all.
@HellRemains666 well ur buddy is a dumb ass. its all about perspective. if your gunna compare it to a 600 or 1000 then yeah you will get board. But I have a 250 and The way i look at it is. were am i going to go 160 at. most people dont go to the track. you can still beat most any car to 60 mph and it gets up to around 100 really fast. what more do you need unless you just need to pad ur ego since getting a super sport (is the cool thing to do)
@HellRemains666 dont listen to this tool. of course you will get board if you compare it to a super sport. but if you appreciate it for what it is then its badass. ive had mine since january and still love it. nothing can hnadle better. zero to sixty in a flash, 60 mpg. only thing ur buddy dont like is that it cant go 160. i just got one question. where the hell are you going to do that at. so just because you and your buddy are idiots trying to be "cool" dont try and ruin it for everyone
@marklower007 Seriously, you commented twice before I could get back to you? Does my statement really tick you off that badly? Dude, grow a set, seriously. Such a big man on the interwebz, youre cool. Just because I have a 600cc supersport bike makes me an idiot, because it can do 160, right? You dont even know me, so how can you judge?Just because it can do 160 doesnt mean you have to, nor have I.Youre the tool mate, dont know what you're talking about. Why so serious?Grow up and troll elsewhere
@HellRemains666 Oh, I'm sorry just over 100 mph isn't good enough for your buddy. Make sure to remember that on his tombstone. Unless he isn't using that on public roads, that's the dumbest thing I've heard today.
@squttnbear Who said anything about speed? I don't recall ever saying anything about us doing 1xx mph or anything. You guys are the ones talking about top speeds and shit. My buddy grew out of the Ninja for several reasons. I don't even think he's hit 100 on his 848 Evo on public roads, he does track days. kk? You guys need to shut your mouths until you know what the situation is. Fucking A.
@HellRemains666 shut your mouth? well your the one telling other people to get a bigger bike that a 250 is a waste the 2008 and newer are the same body size as a 600 gets about 20mpg better and o yea is half the fucking price brand new
@HellRemains666 i wish i could, i have a uk restricted licence for 2 years because im 18 so i cant have anything over 33 bhp so a 600 is a waste of money, my country sucks but i do still enjoy my 250 for the moment
@HellRemains666 Hey 0-60 in 6 seconds is twice as quick as my car lol (though my car has a similar top speed). No point in a super powerful bike you have to baby almost everywhere. If you track race then cool, although with a 250 the acceleration in the 70-100mph range is going to be stifled by the wind a bit.
@HellRemains666 some of the worst investment advice i've ever heard, the only advantage of a bigger bike is speed, just about everything else is at a disadvantage and you're telling us not to use it l0l
@HellRemains666 your retarded if the bike does 100 mph tell me where you can legally go faster? i have had mine a year and still love it. of course im not a dumbass so i follow the law
@HellRemains666 listen, i just moved to thailand, i learned to ride a motercycle withen 1 hour, its not hard to drive one, and for the dumbasses that go 200 kph and die, well thats good the gene pool sorts its self out :) btw it dosen't matter if you go 100mph if your good at it (like the person in the vid) and awesome vid btw
@endeavor635650 Oh fantastic. I wasn't being aggressive. I was just stating that your motor isn't broken in yet. But, if you wan't to get all fired up I suggest you punch something, because retaliating to a fairly whimsical post in anguish won't get you far.
the problem i have with the little ninja and all 250 sports, is their priced just under a used 600, n after 2 weeks driving a 250, your fiending for that extra accel/mid range. 600's are the way to go, cbr600s, the new gixsixers and the later zx6r's even, are all totally approachable at beginner levels, n you'll get your money's worth in satisfaction and use for a few years at least. at entry lvl, you can grab a drz sm, they always felt hella more punchy than the 250r. easier to mod too ;o
@KidVahinko The resale on the 250r is pretty high, so resale is good. And nobody said you had to buy a brand new bike. Even if you did want more power after 2 weeks of riding, that doesn't mean you need it yet. Two weeks of riding experience is nothing, you're still a squid. To think otherwise is just stupid. I've never said that someone couldn't learn to ride on a 600. I just don't recommend it, especially if it is a nervous newbie that doesn't understand the clutch/brake/throttle relationship.
@endeavor635650 ofcs i agree 2 weeks is no time at all, i meant more that with a 250 you can find its top end pretty quickly, whereas on a 600 your approaching with a little more caution n you can build that confidence up over a period of time, the power is there and you can work up to it. the 250 gives you a false sense of that i think, the handling is hugely different, not just stance n size, but you can throw a 250 round a corner like you would a scooter, a 600 needs a little more thought and
@KidVahinko adjustment. so when you step onto a bigger bike you still havent rly learnt anything save your gear change, n thats forgiving on 250r anyway. i thoroughly agree that you need a more docile bike to begin, i just think the 250r is a gimmicky thing thats halfway between a learner bike and almost power bike, a super bro or a gs500, both have the more realistic catch on accel and power, so if you mess up on a lean, then you learn the hard way, the 250r doesnt teach that.
it is amazing that the engineer can create so much power out of a 250cc engine, now if the Kawasaki engineers could make a car then i am sure i would be awestruck....
@luisloks Got that right, my car is 1 litre with 55hp, so 2.4 * the power to litres, although I don't think a Nissan Micra engine could rev to 11k lol
@KagekiyoTaira If you want to do sport bikes then the Ninja 250r or Honda CBR250r, if you like cruisers then go with a Honda Rebel (or one of it's competitors). I would say if you rode bmx or mountain bikes go with the sport route, sitting position is similar (feet under you instead of foreward).
@dracdrum Thanks, I'm thinking about getting the Ninja 250R I like the way it looks, and one of my friends also agreed that it would be a good bike to start on. He has a cruising one as well Not sure what kind it is though I know it's a Honda though.
@endeavor635650 yeah my wife has one of these plus she has a little 140L kawasaki dirtbike and as long as the hill doesn't require a running start it will not stall. these little 250R's are nice. Don't get me wrong I love my 2008 cbr 1000 but these bikes are fun and dependable. I wish they would put wheels a little wider though. ps my wife also has an F4
@nakeius blowing a tire then sliding into a street sign on a ninja 250 will kill you just as good at 100mph as it will at 250mph on a hayabusa.. use your brain or it'll end up splattered on the pavement
i dont like that beginners thing .. we are not in moto gp we are in small or big citys cbr 600 /100 gsx 600 / 750 /1000 / 1300 are completely useless and need too many fuels i understand the people who are sick '''''' with those bikes but stιll its not useful.. this bike ,,, i dont see it like a begginer bike ..
@luisace69 it shouldn't be hard to get over 50mph on any motorcycle, but you should break it in a little before you try to go fast. 100 miles on the odometer means you haven't really broke it in at all and that you shouldn't push it

ForeverForTomorrow 6 months ago
@ForeverForTomorrow It seems that you have underestimated the ninja 250 because its a 250cc bike. Yes with your girlfriend, yes at highway speeds for 3 hours without destroying the engine. You'll ware out before the bike does. Get it or not I don't really care I have my ninja 250r already and am happy even after the two trips that covered 1200 miles at 65-70mph.
sr1215cl 6 months ago
@sr1215cl alright thanks a ton bro!

@SiiKxKiiLLer Yeah, your feet should touch the floor fine. You could even lower the bike if you wanted.

Impressive. I wonder how fast a 250cc MX 4-stroke can get up to with the right gearing.

HellRemains666 7 months ago
@HellRemains666 just because he wanted to upgrade doesn't mean he needed to.
endeavor635650 7 months ago 19
@endeavor635650 I'm just saying, and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. My buddy loved his Ninja 250, he just grew out of it fast, as has many people I know. If the bike is perfect for you, then great, good for you! Ride safe all.
HellRemains666 7 months ago
@HellRemains666 well ur buddy is a dumb ass. its all about perspective. if your gunna compare it to a 600 or 1000 then yeah you will get board. But I have a 250 and The way i look at it is. were am i going to go 160 at. most people dont go to the track. you can still beat most any car to 60 mph and it gets up to around 100 really fast. what more do you need unless you just need to pad ur ego since getting a super sport (is the cool thing to do)
marklower007 7 months ago
@HellRemains666 dont listen to this tool. of course you will get board if you compare it to a super sport. but if you appreciate it for what it is then its badass. ive had mine since january and still love it. nothing can hnadle better. zero to sixty in a flash, 60 mpg. only thing ur buddy dont like is that it cant go 160. i just got one question. where the hell are you going to do that at. so just because you and your buddy are idiots trying to be "cool" dont try and ruin it for everyone
marklower007 7 months ago

Unless he isn't using that on public roads, that's the dumbest thing I've heard today.
squttnbear 7 months ago
@squttnbear Who said anything about speed? I don't recall ever saying anything about us doing 1xx mph or anything. You guys are the ones talking about top speeds and shit. My buddy grew out of the Ninja for several reasons. I don't even think he's hit 100 on his 848 Evo on public roads, he does track days. kk? You guys need to shut your mouths until you know what the situation is. Fucking A.
HellRemains666 7 months ago
@HellRemains666 shut your mouth? well your the one telling other people to get a bigger bike that a 250 is a waste the 2008 and newer are the same body size as a 600 gets about 20mpg better and o yea is half the fucking price brand new
catchsmith 7 months ago
@HellRemains666 i wish i could, i have a uk restricted licence for 2 years because im 18 so i cant have anything over 33 bhp so a 600 is a waste of money, my country sucks but i do still enjoy my 250 for the moment
G1pilotJ 7 months ago
@HellRemains666 Hey 0-60 in 6 seconds is twice as quick as my car lol (though my car has a similar top speed). No point in a super powerful bike you have to baby almost everywhere. If you track race then cool, although with a 250 the acceleration in the 70-100mph range is going to be stifled by the wind a bit.
TimpBizkit 7 months ago
@HellRemains666 some of the worst investment advice i've ever heard, the only advantage of a bigger bike is speed, just about everything else is at a disadvantage and you're telling us not to use it l0l
m00seyt 7 months ago
@HellRemains666 your retarded if the bike does 100 mph tell me where you can legally go faster? i have had mine a year and still love it. of course im not a dumbass so i follow the law

rkobilansky 9 months ago
the problem i have with the little ninja and all 250 sports, is their priced just under a used 600, n after 2 weeks driving a 250, your fiending for that extra accel/mid range.
KidVahinko 9 months ago
@KidVahinko The resale on the 250r is pretty high, so resale is good. And nobody said you had to buy a brand new bike. Even if you did want more power after 2 weeks of riding, that doesn't mean you need it yet. Two weeks of riding experience is nothing, you're still a squid. To think otherwise is just stupid. I've never said that someone couldn't learn to ride on a 600. I just don't recommend it, especially if it is a nervous newbie that doesn't understand the clutch/brake/throttle relationship.
endeavor635650 9 months ago
@endeavor635650 ofcs i agree 2 weeks is no time at all, i meant more that with a 250 you can find its top end pretty quickly, whereas on a 600 your approaching with a little more caution n you can build that confidence up over a period of time, the power is there and you can work up to it. the 250 gives you a false sense of that i think, the handling is hugely different, not just stance n size, but you can throw a 250 round a corner like you would a scooter, a 600 needs a little more thought and
KidVahinko 9 months ago
@KidVahinko adjustment. so when you step onto a bigger bike you still havent rly learnt anything save your gear change, n thats forgiving on 250r anyway. i thoroughly agree that you need a more docile bike to begin, i just think the 250r is a gimmicky thing thats halfway between a learner bike and almost power bike, a super bro or a gs500, both have the more realistic catch on accel and power, so if you mess up on a lean, then you learn the hard way, the 250r doesnt teach that.
KidVahinko 9 months ago
@KidVahinko why in the hell would someone want to "learn the hard way?"
endeavor635650 9 months ago
@endeavor635650 you wouldnt. but you will either way.

KagekiyoTaira 8 months ago
@KagekiyoTaira If you want to do sport bikes then the Ninja 250r or Honda CBR250r, if you like cruisers then go with a Honda Rebel (or one of it's competitors). I would say if you rode bmx or mountain bikes go with the sport route, sitting position is similar (feet under you instead of foreward).

@dracdrum Thanks, I'm thinking about getting the Ninja 250R I like the way it looks, and one of my friends also agreed that it would be a good bike to start on. He has a cruising one as well Not sure what kind it is though I know it's a Honda though.

@luisace69 it shouldn't be hard to get over 50mph on any motorcycle, but you should break it in a little before you try to go fast. 100 miles on the odometer means you haven't really broke it in at all and that you shouldn't push it
