  • I'm used to using windows movemaker but as a recent convert to linux all movie editing software baffles me. For example, how do I load a videoclip into Kdenlive in the 1st place? Baffled.

  • @getjiggy21 just drag it in

  • @gotbletu Thank you for replying. I know Linux video editing software is much better than anything windows has to offer, but it's so difficult to use. If a Linux developer designs a windows moviemaker clone I'll use it - especially if it has better capabilities but I'm too old to use linux video-editing. My threshold of patience before I start throwing the PC through the window is around 4 minutes. I don't want to see a flashy program - I want to see results.

  • @getjiggy21 not sure what u mean, if u dont have the patience to try something new then stick to what you're using now. Why bother learning something new. It isnt that much different, drag drop ,cut paste just like Movie marker. I have a few other videos on Kdenlive for basic stuff u can watch those

  • @gotbletu Ok thanks. I'll give these other tutorial vids a try but I think I'll be sticking with windows moviemaker. I like a video editing program to work for me - and not the other way round. Perhaps windows moviemaker is intuitive because it was designed by idiots, for idiots like me (I do believe MIcrosoft staff are complete imbeciles & their technical staff are college rejects, but this has its pluses).

  • Sorry @gotbletu but all linux video editing software sucks bigtime. None of it is user-friendly. As much as I hate Windows, windows wins hands down. Linux video editing software is the biggest wind-up I've ever seen. It took me just 30 minutes of using Windows moviemaker to master most of its features, & 4 presentations to become an experienced user. All I've achieve with Kdenskive is how to throw a computer through a window at 10 paces. I know Linux software is free - but that's cause it's crap

  • @getjiggy21 lols thats ok, some people are just too noob to learn. WMM has nothing expert about it, is just a basic editor. But like i said b4 use what u like

  • @gotbletu I really feel Linux has let me down. I'm currently using Ubuntu Ultimate too, which isn't the easiest of linux systems to get on with & is fairly unstable itself. I guess that doesn't help. I hate to knock free software especially when it is so community-based but looking on the net everyone is complaining that Linux video-editing is sadly lacking. I see wonderful presentations on youtube & often wonder what they were created on. I'll try using one of these linux progs in pclinuxos.

  • @gotbletu hey everyhing is fine with kendive but when I upload a music and pics and save it and play it it doesn't come!!!plzz help!

  • @Puppetmaster832 u probably didnt install the codecs? u can do so by installing the ubuntu-restricted-extras or kubuntu-restricted-extras if ur using kde

  • Bug: Can not render.

  • Hi LoliComplicated, at what point do you get this problem? Is it that the rendering is stuck in between, or is it because you dont find a "Render" button? If its the second problem, i think in newer versions they have subsituted Render with something called Make Video/file or something like that. Cheers,

  • I got it working. I needed to delete and remake my entire project because it was using a different save method or something from the corrupted version of kdenlive i had before. It works now.

  • Lol it Crashes for me, when i try to put 2 clips

  • sudo apt-get install kdenlive is so much easier

  • looks great

  • I gust swiched to kubuntu 64bit just o try this

  • If u cant find the download, open terminal and type:

    sudo apt-get install kdenlive

  • fyi you don't have to do source code you can just go to:

Applications>Add/Remove>Set search to "All Available Applications> search Kdenlive

it pops up, I think thats just easier for novice users. I typically do things by terminal, but as for noobs, they get all weird eyed when someone gives them a jumble of code.

  • I've used

Windows Moviemaker, Corel VideoStudio X2, Camtasia Studio, Pinnacle Studio 12, Nero Vision....they all suck! Today tried kdenlive....no problems so far :)

  • I like pinnacle, but if that is true, then windows and proprietary video editors will be taking a hit.
