Well, it all has to do with the society you live in. I live in a pretty accepting area, but there are always those people that won't, so at most times I do have to feign heterosexuality. Here on the internet, we are free. We are anonymous, so I was out here almost a year before I was in the real world. It isn't pathetic at all that this makes you fell liberated in a sense. I'm part of my school's Gay/Straight Alliance. The reason schools have these clubs and the reason it's important for gay people to show pride in who they are is because so many gay people are scared to admit what they are, and end up living a lie because of that. Our school's GSA tries to show people that it's okay to be gay--that there's nothing wrong with it. And when others come out, it inspires people living their lives "in the closet" to do likewise.

I'm part of my school's Gay/Straight Alliance. The reason schools have these clubs and the reason it's important for gay people to show pride in who they are is because so many gay people are scared to admit what they are, and end up living a lie because of that. Our school's GSA tries to show people that it's okay to be gay--that there's nothing wrong with it. And when others come out, it inspires people living their lives "in the closet" to do likewise.
