See this is where you people are missing the point. The LDS church is a full restoration of Jesus Christ's gospel. Therefore, it is the ONLY church that has the authority to act in god's name hence using the priesthood. And so you have High Priests and so on like this guy is pointing out...on down the ranks. But to say the priesthood is not true or relevant in these days is false.
@teriiura Oh yes it has been lost and is was restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. Man is not as smart as you think he is...open up your heart and be truthful. I read the bible everyday and I try to live by it's standards just like everyone else. And I know the truth when I see it because of it. This church is Christ's Church.
oh really???? the word of God has been restored then??? if you read the bible everyday you would read that it is written "even if an angel brings another gospel than the bible let him be accursed"....so the book of mormon goes against the bible.....let it be accursed.
Joseph smith said he saw the father ,Jesus ,michael........etc....how????? since Jesus is in the father and the father is in Jesus.....maybe he just made it up?How come we cannot find the civilization written in the bom???????
@teriiura The heck is up with all your question marks? Are you an idiot? Michael? Who said anything about Michael? He saw God the father and Jesus Christ. And uh....yeah...pretty much what I said in my last comment answers this one too. You don't have a CLUE with what you're talking about.
ok ! since there is no archeological proof that the civilization mentioned in the bom didn't exist ,therefore Jesus didn't visit them ,therefore the golden plates doesn't exist.
the golden plates was calculated if existed to weighed 236lbs ..... and joseph smith ran few miles with it.if i am an idiot i guess you are lower to believe in a fiction story
@teriiura Look you're stuck in the past. We live RIGHT NOW. And right now the only true church is the LDS. Only church with the authority to act in God's name. No other church has this distinction. But we have a lot un-intelligent people walkin' around who spend countless hours trying to tear that down. Don't be a part of that. We're doing SO much good over here. Come back to reality and let the lord use you for his work here.
why are you the true church?why not jehovah witnesses?why not islam?why not others....why lds? you already treated me as an idiot...now God want to use me?
All the BOM doesn't make sense.a prophet make true prophecies.....not failed prophecies....so why are you the true church?
if it is because you said so is not a good argument. And by the way the bible talks about the future as well.....do you really read your bible every day? i am not sure
The book of Hebrews was (obviously) written for Jews who were on the verge of going back to the old religion. The writer took them where they were (in their awe for angels, Moses, Joshua, The Law etc.) and juxtaposed that with the supremacy of Jesus Christ :) i.e. Jesus supercedes Moses, Jesus being the fulfilment of the law. Like mtcanz has said: these were all a fore-shadow of the reality that was to come :)
The OT is a shadow. If one holds his hand in front of a light, it casts a shadow which is an incomplete representation of the actual hand, yet points back to the hand.
Same with the law & Christ. Since Jesus came, there is no more shadow (law) priesthood (Levi/Aaron, etc.). The many gave way to the One who cast the shadow all along.
Now all who are born again are royal priests in the new covenant, by way of THE High Priest's (Messiah's) Spirit dwelling within us.
(part II) The LDS believe in an inheritance that doesn't come directly THROUGH Christ (priesthood, etc). Everything born again believers are, we are because Christ is, and He is in us (the believer)--His Spirit. There is no circumventing this. It's all Messiah's, and we share in it with Him as adopted sons, but He is the only begotten Son.
'but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."' Rom 8:15
The Shadow->Substance->Light dynamic simplifies and makes so much of the OT easier to understand for me. The law (OT) is the shadow, Christ the substance or image as revealed in the NT. And yet now He dwells in "light unapproachable" - sharing once again the glory He had with the Father before the world was. The Light (God) bathes over the Substance (or image), which casts the shadow. But everything in the shadow (OT) is really just meant to point the way back to the Substance - Christ.
I'm having a debate with a mormon on another youtube video about the priesthood. He finely admitted that other's receiving the priesthood isn't biblical, but then he runs to this "modern day revelation" its just rather pathetic seeing that it isn't biblical.
It's a tough nut to crack and one we are not able to. It has to be a work of God's Spirit. We can only show them the truth in love.
There is no priesthood greater than the one we share in in Messiah -- the royal priesthood. It's a shame that someone would want to remain in the shadows when it was only meant to point to the substance - Jesus.
Your retarded claim has been debunked for hundreds of years so I'm not worried about what you think is pathetic or not.
What is Sad is that your claim is still contrediction to the bible. when I gave you scripture, you couldn't back it up, so you had to make up questions that doesn't even affect the message of the Melchizedek foreshadowing Christ all throughout the OT.
Give me one Scripture that supports the Priesthood given to the disciples- so will you admit your claim it isn't biblical?
You are right Jesus is the ONLY High priest (Hebrews 3:1-6) and Jesus cannot be replaced as such. So by the LDS appointing other so called high priests is taking away from Jesus.
But then again that is what the LDS are trying to do, take away from God (he was not always a god) and trying to bring themselves up (you to can be a god).
The Aaronic priesthood was part of the religious system under the Law of Moses. This law and its ordinances came to an end when Christ died on the cross Galatians 3:19, 23-25; Colossians 2:14-17; Hebrews 10:1-10.
Also the only Melchizedek priest in all the Old Testament was Melchizedek himself. In the New Testament there is only one who is said to be a priest after the order of Melchizedek and that was Christ.
Ah the good old LDS answer a question with a question...I know you cannot answer it so there you go. I wish just one LDS would accpet the truth for face value instead of doing the I know you are but what am I rebuttle.
Oh, the best verse to show Jesus intersession between God and us is in Hebrews 7:25 "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." We do not need a priest of any type; Jesus alone is that bridge between us and God. All authority is to all Christians not certain Christens. Your salvation is between you and God through Jesus alone.
Ah good old new age protestant beliefs. If that were true and we need no priesthood then tell me why did the catholic church believe that a priesthood was needed?
Did the church supposedly founded by Peter have it all wrong?
I condemn no one, its not up to me. The Catholics have there faults as does everyone, will it effect there salvation? I do not think so, they know who the true Jesus is and what He did for us. They do not take away by saying they have to earn there salvation. They do take away the fact that Jesus is our direct line to God. We do not need a confesional, we are forgiven once and for all through Gods Grace.
the catholic church has nothing to do with what I'm talking about mr 89-
perhaps one day when your reading through the bible maybe it would click or dawn on you that NOT ONE PERSON BESIDES JESUS IS WORTHY OF RECEIVING OF THE PRIESTHOOD THROUGH OUT THE BIBLE-
Your lame claim STILL isn't supported through the biblical text and your lacking evidence that actually could help your case=- but I"m sorry bud, its just not biblical.
You said my claim has been debunked for "hundreds of years" that is where the catholic church comes in. One of the oldest religons believes in the passing on of the priesthood. So yes actually it does have somthing to do with the discussion.
Perhaps when you read a dictionary or maybe a thesaurus you will see that continually does not equal exclusively.
Sorry bud only Jesus having the priesthood just isint biblical.
In fact it was not even thought of till the time of Martin Luther.
what makes you think that the catholic church is what I'm talking about? I'm not talking about a organization, or a building, I'm talking about scripture.
and your facts are completely wrong, where in the catholic church do they teach Godhood through a Melchizedek priesthood? Your heresy will not be tolerated.
"sorry bud only Jesus having the priesthood just isn't biblical" - these declarative statements are not proving anything. show me some scriptures to back it up.
I would recommend you quit trying to twist what i say. I never said a word about godhood. I just plainly said that your "beliefs" on the priesthood only started when martin luther came around and people began to leave the catholic church. Read again not a single word on godhood.
You are talking about your completely wrong views on scripture. Your talking about your wrong definition of a word in scripture.
I'm not twisting what you say man, I'm stating facts about your beliefs about godhood that your not telling.
And again, how do you know what my beliefs are? I'm asking for scripture not history oriented commentary.
and also, the where in the Catholic Church do they teach you can achieve the "Melchizedek" priesthood?
my view is right on the money bud, all through scripture of the Melchizedek, its Jesus who is worthy and is foreshadowed in the OT and revealed in the NT. Now answer my question.
There Is No Biblical Authority for a Melchizedek Priesthood. Christ was appointed a high priest after the order of Melchizedek by God (Hebrews 5:5-6, 10), not by an existing Melchizedek priesthood, nor by a ceremony of the laying on of hands.
I think you really need to read all of Hebrews, it is so against what the LDS think. Also kind of against the Catholic thinking also.
See this is where you people are missing the point. The LDS church is a full restoration of Jesus Christ's gospel. Therefore, it is the ONLY church that has the authority to act in god's name hence using the priesthood. And so you have High Priests and so on like this guy is pointing out...on down the ranks. it is restored??????? really???? i didn't know it was lost,i thought God could take care of it own church.
I guess according to the mormon God cannot take care of it own word.
If you just knew the history of the bible ,you would know that there is no need of " restoration" because it has never been lost.

Debunked for hundreds of years? I think not when the Catholic church also believes in the progression of the priesthood.
You gave em a scripture that says Christs priesthood is CONTINUAL. Let me repeat that
CONTINUAL.
Since when does CONTINUAL equal EXCLUSIVELY.
Lets repeat this one
EXCLUSIVELY
Do you understand the difference between these two words?
