See this is where you people are missing the point. The LDS church is a full restoration of Jesus Christ's gospel. Therefore, it is the ONLY church that has the authority to act in god's name hence using the priesthood. And so you have High Priests and so on like this guy is pointing out...on down the ranks. But to say the priesthood is not true or relevant in these days is false.

The book of Hebrews was (obviously) written for Jews who were on the verge of going back to the old religion. The writer took them where they were (in their awe for angels, Moses, Joshua, The Law etc.) and juxtaposed that with the supremacy of Jesus Christ :) i.e. Jesus supercedes Moses, Jesus being the fulfilment of the law. Like mtcanz has said: these were all a fore-shadow of the reality that was to come :)

Another clear point.

The OT is a shadow. If one holds his hand in front of a light, it casts a shadow which is an incomplete representation of the actual hand, yet points back to the hand.

Same with the law & Christ. Since Jesus came, there is no more shadow (law) priesthood (Levi/Aaron, etc.). The many gave way to the One who cast the shadow all along.

Now all who are born again are royal priests in the new covenant, by way of THE High Priest's (Messiah's) Spirit dwelling within us.

(part II) The LDS believe in an inheritance that doesn't come directly THROUGH Christ (priesthood, etc). Everything born again believers are, we are because Christ is, and He is in us (the believer)--His Spirit. There is no circumventing this. It's all Messiah's, and we share in it with Him as adopted sons, but He is the only begotten Son.

The Shadow->Substance->Light dynamic simplifies and makes so much of the OT easier to understand for me. The law (OT) is the shadow, Christ the substance or image as revealed in the NT. And yet now He dwells in "light unapproachable" - sharing once again the glory He had with the Father before the world was. The Light (God) bathes over the Substance (or image), which casts the shadow. But everything in the shadow (OT) is really just meant to point the way back to the Substance - Christ.

I'm having a debate with a mormon on another youtube video about the priesthood. He finely admitted that other's receiving the priesthood isn't biblical, but then he runs to this "modern day revelation" its just rather pathetic seeing that it isn't biblical.

It's a tough nut to crack and one we are not able to. It has to be a work of God's Spirit. We can only show them the truth in love.

There is no priesthood greater than the one we share in in Messiah -- the royal priesthood. It's a shame that someone would want to remain in the shadows when it was only meant to point to the substance - Jesus.

You are right Jesus is the ONLY High priest (Hebrews 3:1-6) and Jesus cannot be replaced as such. So by the LDS appointing other so called high priests is taking away from Jesus.

But then again that is what the LDS are trying to do, take away from God (he was not always a god) and trying to bring themselves up (you to can be a god).

The Aaronic priesthood was part of the religious system under the Law of Moses. This law and its ordinances came to an end when Christ died on the cross Galatians 3:19, 23-25; Colossians 2:14-17; Hebrews 10:1-10.

Also the only Melchizedek priest in all the Old Testament was Melchizedek himself. In the New Testament there is only one who is said to be a priest after the order of Melchizedek and that was Christ.

Oh, the best verse to show Jesus intersession between God and us is in Hebrews 7:25 "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." We do not need a priest of any type; Jesus alone is that bridge between us and God. All authority is to all Christians not certain Christens. Your salvation is between you and God through Jesus alone.

I condemn no one, its not up to me. The Catholics have there faults as does everyone, will it effect there salvation? I do not think so, they know who the true Jesus is and what He did for us. They do not take away by saying they have to earn there salvation. They do take away the fact that Jesus is our direct line to God. We do not need a confesional, we are forgiven once and for all through Gods Grace.

There Is No Biblical Authority for a Melchizedek Priesthood. Christ was appointed a high priest after the order of Melchizedek by God (Hebrews 5:5-6, 10), not by an existing Melchizedek priesthood, nor by a ceremony of the laying on of hands.

I think you really need to read all of Hebrews, it is so against what the LDS think. Also kind of against the Catholic thinking also.
