Funny, except for Renee Zellweger and Phillip Seymour Hoffman, I don't think there were any American-born actors in this film, and it was shot in Romania. Not bad for a movie about American history : P.

It shows the much more brutal side (civilians being tortured, raped and killed by their own countrymen) of the Civil War that normally isn't acknowledged outside of the Glory-Gods-and-Generals types that just focus on the battles.

In a short interview she said she did not like her performance at all. She said she wished she tried harder,and relaxed at certain moments.
