I loved this movie, and I wonder why they didn't put this song in it.

Two things:

1. I think the guy who played "Bottom" in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" voiced Tulio in "El Dorado".

2. I will destroy the next person who uses the word "Fin" for "The End".

I noticed that in the German version, Tulio is voiced by the same guy who voiced Hades in the German "Hercules". It was weird because I always thought I heard Hades speaking. ^.^

As for the video, that's the most beautiful M/T I've seen so far! That song is wonderful, and you make it seem as if the movie never had intended anything else but Tulio and Miguel being in love. =P Definite fave!

It was originally about Miguel and Tulio - which is why there's so much tension when Chel comes along. But most of the allusions to their relationship were removed because it wasn't considered quite appropriate. Pity - it makes the story much richer.

If you look on the subtitles in some of the earlier editions of the film, you'll see Miguel and Tulio have pet names for each other - they call each other darling and suchlike. It was removed from the dialogue at the 11th hour because it was too suggestive.

It's not known whether these lines were part of the original script, or if the actors added them in. The actors were definitely playing them as a gay couple and the writers may have been in on the joke as well. Information from AfterElton's Brent Hartinger.

Yeah, the original script had all kinds of references and pet names to imply they were a couple, this was to make the 'parting of ways' that much more painful for them. Studio made them take them out though,shame...though you really don't have to look too hard to see them as a pair :p (oh, and apparently the pet names are still in some of the legal direct-from-script subtitles for other language releases of the film :D)
