I liked the 2000 version of Dune a little slow but a much better version then Lynch.... the Lynch had potential but there were a few things that they took out that I did not like... mostly the Baron ruined it.
I know I'm gonna get sh't for saying but, Seeing the storyboards this DUNE would have looked so cool as an animated movie. I think of Peter Chung's work on "Reign" (the "Alexandra the Great" series on LSD) and I can't not see the storyboard designs with that degree and type of animation.
I dont like the concept art that jodorowsky made. I think that an epic like dune can be made without some ridiculous costumes and instead focus on the extreme depth and insight this story tells us... I hope the new director realizes what was wrong with the older versions: it lacked a good interpretation on what actually mattered, not the fucking clothing.
whoa. From the looks of this concept art, that movie could have been amazing if it was made! Holy crap! Especially if Pink Flyod would have done the soundtrack! holy crap!
That's good news that Brian Herbert is involved. Hopefully he's recognized how well Peter Jackson handled Lord of the Rings...that it can be done if they're not afraid of running time and letting their creation "breath."
They really should get Jodorowsky involved on some level as well.
I remember seeing some of it and enjoying it. Also from my quick viewing, thought that it was better than 2000. I'll have to watch it in its entirety again.
@hotsonfornowhere It's actually really bad that he's involved. He's a complete simpleton who can't write for shit. His only saving grace is that he's smart enough to cash in on his father's legacy.
Yeah but this right here was in 1970's and they had a better idea of what futuristic ideas were!!!I mean if they had done this I think it would have be awesome like Star Wars! Forget George Lucus, Alejandro Jodorowsky had the right idea. I think that the they should seriously consider this guy for the remake, not someone who hasn't any idea yet. I bet this would be extremely awesome to watch.

The best thing is adapt Dune and rewrite into a different story that would fit 2 hours on the screen.

Guess what people...I just heard that Paramount is giving up on the remake...kinda disappointed that they didn't at least give it a try:(

Man, imagine if Giger did even more artwork for dune.
THAT would have been awesome!

I enjoyed the 2000 version and thought Children of Dune was excellent. Lets hope the newest version doesn't blow it like Lynch.

@MagnificentBastard12
Lynch's version was a classic.

This movie should be 3 or 4 parts to do Frank Herbert's vision justice more than that 1984 abortion or the mini-seires but Children of Dune was good.

I'm pretty sure Clockwork Orange focused on Beethoven...the opening here is a Funeral March for Queen Mary and the main music is Bach.

Well the 2012 remake has Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson attached so that's a start isn't it?
