  • Yeah, passing acceleration times would be a nice addition.

  • It seems fairly slow, but for the money the Malibu 4-cyl is a great car. For decent acceleration and 27-30 mpg, I think I'd rather have this than the V6 option.

If you posted videos of passing acceleration from around 20-50 or 40-70 mph, that would be pretty cool too. this video is pretty neat tho.

  • Not bad for an I-4!

  • @Motorchevytoyota Great idea ... been thinking about it for a while.

  • Fast!! for a full sized 4 cyl sedan.

  • slow!!

  • judging by the video he started at 7 seconds and reached 60 mph by 17 seconds 10 flat in't bad for a full size car running a 4 cylinder

  • slow, but that does seem very smooth for a 4 cylinder

  • @4MATICbenz

that was slow? dam how quick of acceleration does the average commuter need? my old v6 explorer goes about that fast and i'm still able to pass people when i need to.

  • slow

  • 9.1 seconds official

  • How come there's hardly any 3.5 or 3.6 Malibu videos out there?

  • @victoriadish because they suck on gas and no one buys them

  • best time 0-60mph was 9 secs flat.

  • I have the V6...ohhhhhh my god the sound :)

  • I can squeak the tires in mine with traction control on

  • wow that's slow. lol

  • 10 s whit v6 that is sucks

  • @zizooo000ooo It's a four cylinder. Troll much?

  • @doug65536 ok man but is still slowly :( i think it is better that

  • @zizooo000ooo - its a small 4-cylinder and its a heavy car.

  • @Toni7859 ohhh thats a new info malibu is 4-cylinders please go and make sure if you dont mind

  • @zizooo000ooo - sorry I meant to reply to another comment (to the person complaining that it was a slow car). My bad.

  • @Toni7859 ok man thats fine

  • All the GM ecotec engines seem to make good power above 3,000 rpm.

  • that's slow. my 96 buick regal 3.8L V6 has 205hp and 230lb ft of torque. a 96 car beating a 2010 is pretty sad even if it is a 4 cylinder.

  • @bakuntz1983 lol ok, you win! happy? wait, no your car wins, hope it boosts your ego a little!

  • why do you "always go to 65" . really

  • @pvtghost24 I'll rectify that when I move out to the Bonneville Salt Flats. :)

  • @mpgomatic Understandable, and have fun with that :)

But what I was getting at, is that it seems in like all of you videos of 0-60

you always do 0-65. It's almost misleading information. It's like one, two, or three videos is ok. but all 0-60s reaching at 65mph? All I ask myself is. Why the heck does he say 0-60 when every time he goes 0-65...

  • @pvtghost24 Here's why: 1) 0-60 is a long-established benchmark. 2) It's impractical to stop at exactly 60 (you've gotta accelerate through to achieve an optimum time). 3) One of the goals of this project is to document the coast down to 60, in order to show the upshifts and RPM levels.

  • @mpgomatic just ignore this twat waffle. he sounds like an 8 year old. keep it up with videos!!!:D

  • @pvtghost24 he probly goes 65 because hes hitting the speed limit of the road. i doubt he can get tickets in these cars and still get a bunch sent to him to review.

  • @pvtghost24

    holy crap youre dumb

  • Good for a 4 cyl. The 6-speed makes things look better but don't u think that it hangs up a lot before it shifts?? i guess an adjustment to lower down the max reving would add like 0.5 sec. The last 200 rpm feels like on the downward sloping part of the torque curve.

  • Comment removed

  • @ssj02 It is the downward sloping part of the curve. The idea is, because you are in a lower gear, you end up with more power at the drive wheels even though the engine has less torque at that rpm. That is what horsepower is all about - it factors out the gear ratio - it takes into account the rpm of the drive wheels. Being in a lower gear takes that smaller torque and multiplies it by a bigger number (ratio).

  • so you guys get to floor it in new cars just to make videos? Lucky!

  • Thank God they dropped the 4-speed automatic which was garbage. 0-60 took like 11 seconds.

  • @fertref Thsi 1 is the six speed and it still took like 11 seconds Lol. Sloooooooow

  • This is from a 4-cylinder? That's pretty quick.

  • Comment removed

  • Not bad, but I still think that it doesnt have the puch that Hondas 2.4 i-VTEC has.

  • @Motorfordtoyota Of course it doesn't, it's made by GM. Nothing special about VTECs though.

  • @Motorfordtoyota

    Punch?

    VTEC has no torque.

  • @MasterNaruto1214 True, I lost faith in Honda after my dad's 06 is developing lots of engine noises, and it has developed some annoying squeaks and rattles. Worst part is that it only has like 82k on it!

  • (cont) now no Malibu can beat me hahaha

  • I'm glad they stopped making the v6 for the malibu down here in loisiana all we have are just the 4 cylinders the Malibu don't deserve that much power lmao!!! I'm satified with my impala 3.5 VVT v6. Now no

  • It is actually pretty fast for a 4 cylinder.

  • Hey Dan. Might I ask why you want to review the same car again? You did the same car 2 years ago minus the hybrid drive train. Is it just what got put in your hands?

  • @flatblackstrat - Chevy stopped building the hybrid version. Folks searching for Malibu reviews would only see the hybrid review. It's interesting to see how the standard version performs by comparison, although I would have preferred to test the V6.

  • @mpgomatic

Can you test the V6 pleeeeeeease :)

  • Not bad. :)

  • I think you should automatically delete comments IN ALL CAPS without even reading them.

  • @theclipper505 HEY BUDDY DONT JUDGE US

  • 9.8sc nothing to brag about but I guess ok.

  • WHY ARE THE 0-60 VIDS SCREWED UP AGAIN?!

  • @bg1379 YouTube messed with the scaling when it converted this one from the original source video. Not sure why. The audio sync looks/sounds like it's fine.

  • I'll be looking forward to this review. The Malibu is a nice car, although I would probably get V6 is I was going to buy one. I love my Impala, but the Malibu would definitely be my second choice in a vehicle, if I could not have an Impala. I love Chevy's!!!! You guys continue to do a fantastic job with your reviews, and I love the fact that you are now including the bluetooth pairing videos too.

  • Though it does have alot of accessory drive noise at high rpms. Would say it sounds like the power steering pump- if it had hydraulic power steering. Hm.

  • Been waiting for a good quality 0-60 video on one of these. Thanks!

  • MY 94 LINCOLN TOWN CAR WILL DESTROY THIS MALIBU! AT LEAST I KNOW WHAT NEW CARS TO PICK ON ON THE ROAD LOL.....

  • @KingFreak07 94 lincoln town car has a V8.... your an idiot

  • @matman142 NO YOUR AN IDIOT FOR BRINGING YOUR NEGATIVITY TO MY COMMENT.

  • @KingFreak07 C'mon kids, play nice. =) And turn off the CAPS. I thought that first comment was kinda funny. I've always wanted a huge lifted Town Car with giant monster truck tires. Just for laughs, ya know? It would have sideboards that went up and down like a tailgate lift on a delivery truck, so folks wouldn't have to climb in ...

  • @mpgomatic LOL! That would be EPIC! I Might just play around with it a lil bit when i get my mkz....

  • @KingFreak07 it's "you're" an idiot.....he doesn't own stupidity or ignorance....therefore it's "you're" ...so next time before you call the host an idiot....make sure you are calling him an actual idiot......hence, stay in school kid :) ........Dan ftw!!

  • @coandcaiv CALL THE HOST AN IDIOT? OK IT WAS A TYPO BUT I WASNT TALKING TO THE HOST "KID" PAY ATTENTION...

  • @matman142 Ease up, brother ... it's all in fun. =)

  • I got about 9 seconds!

  • start acceleration at 8 seconds and 60 is reached at 18 seconds, LOL my 96 mazda protege with a 1.5l making less than 100hp gets to 60 in 10 seconds hahaha and this is a new car lol chevy sux. if u buy the malibu get the V6 altho i dont think it wud b a lot faster maybe 8 seconds 0-60

  • @k00lball3r The 3.6 gets you nearly a hundred extra ponies.

  • @k00lball3r LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! *DEAD* x_x

  • @k00lball3r think about the weight man, ya'll bashers dont know anything. gearing set for new economy standards, large amounts of drive pulleys to rob HP, emissions systems, think about all that stuff before you make yourself look like an idiot

  • @cadga1390 , still im saying that a bigger engine should make more HP than a smaller one that is n/a and not turbo. mine is 1489cc and this one is atleast 2k or more CC so it should be faster but chevy still sux

  • @k00lball3r Your little Protege also weighs about 1,500 pounds hahahaha

  • @k00lball3r But a 96 means before the days of absolute automotive obesity, with just a few cars getting "big boned"

  • Exact car my dad has for the time being, although his is pretty luxed out (i think the sticker was 31k canadian).

  • @Maccaumjftw - If I'm not mistaken, that's the traction control indicator. =)
