I am a woman and I watched all the episodes of this show, even when the women came on and killed it! I must say that even though I liked the Paint it Black song, I prefer the one that ends it, with the 15 guys walking with the orange glow behind them. Much more sentimental!

For some reason I like this theme song better than Paint it Black - don't get me wrong, Paint it Black is a great song, but i feel this atmospheric music captures the spirit of the show and its themes better.

This show kinda saved Terence Knox's career after playing the rapist in St. Elsewhere. But this show was badass until about the middle of season 2. When the women joined the cast, it was just another China Beach. But CBS was in 3rd place in '87, so this show struggled from day one.

Ugh, why they didn't make more episodes, I will never understand. This show has taught me everything that I need to know about risking your life. I am a 12 year old and I completely understand everything that they say. (Yes, even the dirty parts. :3) But, this show taught me to respect the men that are going to war. I want to spit on the idiots who spit on the Vietnam War Heros, and see how they like it. Those ungreatful punks. :P

Full metal jacket's use of paint it black was more memorable.Tour of duty just rode the coattails.But they should still rerelease the dvd's with the original music.SONY would make a fortune.You wanna make money?You gotta spend some.Simple stuff sony,wise up!

I remember Carl Weathers was added to the show and so was Lee Majors. Some other famous actors/actresses were added to the show in order to boost ratings. I remember there was a three episode arc that spawned the spin off show China Beach on ABC. I never saw the last episode of Tour of Duty. CBS just ended it mid-season.

Most shows, books and movies you see about Viet Nam are crap! Dramatized versions of myths and lies. Tour of Duty, on th eother hand, presented a view from the enlisted man that is closer to truth than most other accounts.

Excellent show that was cancelled far too soon, I believe because it dared to be honest and not portray those of us who served there as monsters or hapless victims.

Viet Nam was right, Iraq is right. Standing up for the freedom of others is not wrong.

This was the actual theme song to the series. In the second season or so they add Paint it Black as the theme song which was way better. They dropped it after the season ended due to not wanting to pay the royalties. There is alot of added generic music and substitutions on the DVDs. Like when MCkay plays his music thru the speakers of his huey. It is painful but bareable to the to the true fan. I just skip past the beginings now.

Actually this is not the original theme song. Paint if Black was always the intro when the series originally aired, however this music was the original ending theme as the credits rolled.
