Hmmmmmmmmmm! Standing up on an atv while going down a steep uneven hill. I`ve seen a few people go face first with the machine landing on top of them doing that. Nice vid though.
The cameras really cut out the majority of the grade. Those hills are actually mountains, and much steeper than they look in the video! But as our two intrepid explorers demonstrated, there is a whole ‘nother view at the top of the difficult trails for those who dare!
Pinnacle creek is my favorite. Have you gone there especially the connector? It's longer than i thought and my z400 made it to Indian ridge with less than a half a tank. I love pinnacles blue trails.
The camera never shows the grade of the hills so I'm sure it is more difficult then it looks. See my uploads of the CT trails. Some are insane cliff climbs that are almost vertical.
@teamMitchMan yea HMC has a ton of trails..stuff for every skill level too. On this particular trip we rode about 90 miles in 1.5 days of riding and only had to backtrack along a trail we had already ridden a few times. Do you know what system you are going to yet?
@SamsCreekRiders naw i dont what would you recomend im going with my dad and uncle in spring or summer but we wouldnt do that one u jus did prob cus my uncle but what is one with many hillclimbs but still medium terrerian ive been riding seince i was 4 or 5 so i want to jus ride what u would suggest prob
@teamMitchMan Rockhouse is really good mix of trails. There is some difficult stuff for you try out but still plenty of green/blue stuff that is much easier.
@MrZeus39 I have never ridden the rockhouse, but I can say that elevation changes do not show well on video. Take your favorite hill climb, goPro it, then watch it. You will agree that it doesn't look as bad as it really is.
@TKJWVU I would agree, I remember thinking on the way down how much more difficult going back up would be. When we got to the bottom there was a sign saying that going up was 4x4 only and a bunch of other warnings. What did you go up on?
@SamsCreekRiders I'll be honest, I've been riding with my dad for about 9 years (im almost 21 now) and we mainly stick to the easy stuff and the Intermediate trails. get a good long run in for the day. I have a 2001 2wd 250 Arctic cat as my trail rider so i wouldn't be able to make it up that stuff. I just recently got a 2001 Honda 400ex that im gonna rebuild soon. What trail was that you came down on?
@TKJWVU I don't remember the trail number, but it was at rockhouse on the Black-Red trails which there isn't too much of so if your looking to try it on the 400 I'd just hit up that little section of trails and you'll find it.
@kingdavid373 It's a 400ex. I am about 5' 11" and the camera is sitting about 3-4 inches above my helmet. In the newer videos I started using a different mount so it is sitting lower to the helmet, probably only an inch or two above the visor.
@ryan81875 Helmet cams really do don't a good job portraying depth, it makes hills look dramatically less steep and makes any slow rock crawling look easy because you can't see what the quad is doing beneath the camera
Also since it was the first time being on the trail we weren't exactly balls to the wall. If you came around a corner too fast and had another rock or big drop to climb you could get seriously effed, a lot of spots on that trail if your quad went off the side it was gone for good
@SamsCreekRiders I agree with you on the cams. Ryan, helmet cams don't give you any visual on how fast you're actually going. 5th gear pinned in the desert and the video seems like your going about 10mph. Nice video, btw. that place looks fun as hell. Where is Rockhouse? I live in CA. The only riding like that out here are dirt bike only trails, Ive been flipped off many times for riding quads on them. Looks like one of those trails, just gotta do it, no way ur turning around and going back. lol
@madmattressiv Rockhouse is one of the trailheads at Hatfield McCoy. It's in West Virgina so it'd be quite a haul for you. Yea once we started hitting those big rocks right at the 1:00 mark it was going to be pretty difficult to turn around. Again the cam doesn't portray it very well but at points the sides of the trail dropped off FAST and it was a LONGGG way down..If you went off the side you would no doubt lose your bike for good.
@SamsCreekRiders haha no im not saying it looks easy but michaux has some of the toughest and most technical trails on the east coast there blues are like normal blacks
You might be able to go down the trail coming from the top of the mountain. Ground clearence would be your only issue but i doubt you could get up it. You would have to have 4 wheel drive unless you can ride like Bill Ballance. Plus, you would need a winch at the top to get over the two rock ledges.
I rode that trail back in March and it has eroded a lot since you rode it, especially right at the beginning of the vid where it steep rocks and drop off is next to the powerline pole. I guess it was all that snow they got back in February.
Technically you can't because you have to "follow manufactures recommendations" Sorry thats how I felt for years. I doubt they would catch you or even stop you if you are pretty big compared to most 14 year olds but it could happen and could be a pretty hefty fine cause its against the law.
haha yea I wouldn't suggest it man, at least not being new bikes.
After the video cuts off the last section was a pretty steep grade, it was all rutted to hell. I had both fronts and rear tires just locked up sliding and was picking up speed. Would be scary as hell on a bike!
@SamsCreekRiders haha ok im leaving tuesday to it what trail system u think i should go on, remeber im new and need a refresher course on off road.lol
I would suggest Rockhouse, it is one of the bigger of the trail systems with plenty of Blue and Green level trails, you can check out our other rockhouse videos to get an idea of what to expect for the rest of the trail system.
@SamsCreekRiders ty, my bro said its risky becouse hence the name rockhouse, were in for the enjoyment and rush of the trail, avoiding getting all covered in mud becouse we both have sport raceing quad, and bike.lol
Yea I mean there are definitely some rocky areas, but I was on a 400ex, and my buddy was on a Raptor 700 and we were both fine. We did get pretty wet but it also had rained a lot the couple days before we got there.
