  • I've been reading these comments and feel pretty outraged. this fellow holds his own against any spread. Lots of spreads flatten in with a spatula, absolutely loads, nothing wrong here, he is huffing and puffing because he is stretching. Who knows what temperature it was that day, good spread, top fella, full respect from EVERY tradesman;

  • That's a big lid fella, I reckon you could have done with being a foot taller. Me reckons your back was hurting the following morning. Respect, you aint no cowboy, that much is obvious.

  • back in the day, this is how it was done: on stilts.

  • first time I see someone using stilts. We put up aluminium scaffolds for those jobs. I guess it could save time and hassle, but isn't it dangerous and slippery? And annoying if you drop something and have to pick it up?

  • I've been in the game 10 years now and only just hit on the idea of using a taping knife for finishing ceilings. It speeds things right up, I've never looked back. It's easier on the shoulders too!

  • Nice Job !!! good stilts

  • @TRUSTRIDE

    trustride stilts

  • What's the nightmare about with this ceiling. He's obviously has someone helping as theres a platform made up in the corner. it's being skimmed on plasterboard as there's a bag of board finish on the floor. The ceiling isn't that big at all. Maybe it's the spatula he's using that's causing the nightmare LOL

  • @583ste. Are you joking. You don't use lights Hahaha man you must be bad

  • @583ste 1...We all know your a rough as gutts plasterer cause you don't use lights.. 2 Just cause you have money in your bank does nt mean your a good plasterer. Your a crook who cuts corners. Cowboy

  • @rage40rder yeeeehaaaa have u mixed my bucket yet ha ha ha..........

  • @583ste Your actually brain dead aren't you. Behaving like a child. I gave my opinion what's wrong with that.

Your right I'm a donkey.... I carry around wanna be's like you. I don't care if you've been in the game a hundred years. I learnt more in my first year than you learnt all your life.. ASS.

  • ozzy, i would knock off any high spots with a scraper and just use pva .use a few coats of glue nice and tacky.mix a thick coat of multi and spread on thick, flatten out when picking up, then lay down another thick coat of multi finish.let it pick up then flatten in mate, this should be enough.as long as its very shallow artex.good luck.

  • Good stilts

  • Cheers mate

  • plastering 15 years i no a good job when i see it thats a good one.

  • Fair play decent size ceiling that is, tell me though what is the best way to plaster a patterned artex ceiling? its about 12ft x 9ft. Should I pva it first then bond it out then skim or acouple of coats of pva then skim it? it is fairly shallow artex.

  • @OzzysUndies1

    Check for popped nail heads.

use waffle iron (or similar) to remove high spots.

    PVA

    then pva just before skimming(tacky)

    then 2 coats.

  • it seems like a lot of so called plasterers, like to coment yet if they knew what i was actually doing, they would maybe get some credability for themselves...at this point iam flatening in!not spreading or finishing.

  • @plasterrenderpaint

    rofl love the stilts xD:P

  • i bet that ceiling needs a little attention before painting, scabs all over..

you too low for starters and you cant beat a good sized stainless steel trowel.

  • @rage40rder u fuckin idiot does he look like he is finishin it and i agree if its easier 4 him then why not ... I dont use them things myself but my mate does and its just as good ..Thats a GOOD ceiling he done there and id bet a million fuckin quid ur a rough cunt who thinks he knows it all

  • @583ste watch your fucking mouth.. its my sons you tube account and i dont like him reading messages like yours,im entitled to my own opinion.

ive been plastering for 20 odd years and worked with hundred of plasterers over the years. i do a top notch job and ALWAYS use halogen lights down the side of my walls.ive seen a handfull of plasterers using using this as an alternative to stainless steel trowels and none of them were particularly good.bet you work for scabs galore plastering dont you??

  • @rage40rder ok ok calm down mate listen !!!!!!!!!! number 1 ,, GET UR OWN ACCOUNT !! 2,,, the guy above was right -whenever plastering is mentioned the idiot critics like urself come out and write bollocks i wasnt gonna respond cuz u made urself sound ridiculous enough but if u dont wanna get slagged dont slag others >and no im 24yrs in the game myself and i dont need fuckin lights to check my work my bank account speaks for that so stop showing ur son what a DICK u are and mix me a bucket

  • @rage40rder shit u didnt get my reply did ya ? number1-get ur own account if ur gonna slag blokes cuz it usually comes back !number 2- u just made urself sound about 16 im 24 yrs in the game and dont have 2 tell the world how good i am ,i just do it now MIX ME A FUCKIN BUCKET U FUCKING DONKEY

  • @583ste you owe me a million...

  • Did you apply with the spat too?

  • I bought one of these for skim-coating a ceiling.

Ah, the o'l 24" incher. LOL

  • wouldn't and electronic moving platform be more comfortable and better

  • haha love it.

  • nice size ceiling but you forgot to say u still gotta go round the edges with a trowel!!

  • Raising your stilts to a decent height would have made your job much easier.....

    Less strain on your heart!!

  • that is one big fuck off ceiling mate fair play

  • Pretty impressive, i could have done a job twicw this big with one bag of multi finish, troweling on with my left foot, making tea and eating a chocky bicky with my hands.

  • big bastard ceiling that is pal, fuck all the negative twats u done a good job. regards

  • u shud b getin 2 ceiling on at that size! never seen any1 trowel up like that b4

  • I just had to plaster a ceiling a third bigger than this one. No stilts though, then the walls; the humidity level was a killer as the plaster was drying out, all that water has to go somewhere! My hat off to this chap!

  • U need a pair of highs....

  • never seen anyone using that tool before for skimming must try it out.

  • i would love to say all these ,,i can do better than that,,prats,,do a ceiling on stilts,,and yes,,your arms and neck ache like mad after a couple ov hours...

  • LMAO I DID KNOW INSPECTOR GADGET DOES PLASTERING... GET BACK TO SOLVING CRIME!

  • this job would definatly keep me awake at night!

  • @ethomfactusest i agree, and awake the next day after....

  • imagewatom are you a plasterer ? if you are and you have never used stilts you must be new to the game. and he isnt mudding you muppet mudding is drywall

  • was probably from the stress his body was under from over-reaching

  • using that tool takes a little longer but it helps with flattening. same principal as TFT..

and the nightmare was probably how

  • Been using stilts for 20+ years they pay for themselves time and time again. Only way to do ceilings

  • One day I must put a video of me plastering on you tube, I've been doing it for 34 years and think I'm ok at it, nothing special and most of the clients and builders I've worked for have been satisfied. But then there's the you tube plasterers," I can do it better, faster, cheaper, cleaner, should do it this way, that way, quicker " brigade, stop bitching guys.

  • stilts are easy, i plastered a 14m sq ceiling the first time i bought them. would never skim a lid without them now. they make life so much easier

  • omg, do i need to learn to walk on those sticks before plastering my bathroom ceiling?? i am only 5'2".

  • jesus u got good balance man :o

  • Thats a good idea with that thing, i think the ceiling is a bit high and looks like he's stretching abit too much.

  • i fink there only good from crossing off

  • Wild Dude! I never thought of using 'Stilts" for mudding the ceiling before! Good idea. If you can keep your balance that is ;-)

    Thanks for the idea!

    Peace…

  • Hes pretty fast though.

  • ceilings are hard.

  • i have plastered in both the uk and europe, this tool is widely used in europe, it isnt used for putting on or polishing, but is an ideal tool for laying down

  • @spagsylee Its comenly used for one coat plasters almost just as a big trowel

  • didn't know george lamb was a plasterer!!!

  • Just to add ,Robguiel, what method do you use to ensure a wall is 100% flat?

It's an old method, and the only way to ensure a totally flat surface and involves 2 proocesses.

Name the technique and you may have some credibility otherwise you have little slagging off a method you haven't mastered.

I was taught how to plaster properly ,I choose to be painter and decorator.

As a 7th gen plasterer you will surely know the only way to get a surface 100% flat,I mean a magnesium level on the wall flat.

  • This is simply flatting the ceiling, and the tool used is correct for a ceiling of this size.

Robguiel you are clueless, started at 13 and stuck in your ways.

I am a painter and use stilts and yes I make twice as much as a painter who uses steps and ruins his knees climbing up and down them.

I have some m8's who plasterer and use stilts, guess what, they make alot more than the stepladder brigade.

This guy has his stilts set to low, thats why it looks ackward.

  • Its Multiskim which looks brown when wet and dries a salmon pink colour. Most UK plasterers still use it.

  • This might seem like a dumb question but how come the plaster is brown in colour, isn't plaster normaly white.

  • @Neseri2de it has a few stages, brown when it goes on,a lighter brown when its drying and what some people call pink or white when its dry,or you could be thinking of plaster of paris?thats white, but gypsum multi finish normaly drys pink/white.

  • NICE JOB.

  • anyone know where i can find the new pavan trowel? the orange and blue handle one for venetian? no one seems to carry it.

  • Soon as the word Plastering comes around all the idiots appear, if that wide taping knife makes that guys job easier then who cares, that is a decent sized ceiling by any standards.

  • its a spat great tool

  • bought some stilts and tryed them out twice in back garden, dont know if i could handle them for plastering!

  • 8 years plastering, I have a pair of stilts and a very good 16'' trowel, Looks good job but to much struggle on the shoulder muscles, take your time and if not able to complete a full ceiling alone without struggle why wouldnt you try doing it in 2 halfs. I could many of them ceiling everyday. I just done a 110 sqr metre ceiling today a with 2 other plasterers, good work tho. You shoudl take it easy

  • ha i got stilts nice pear too £100 07906089098

  • maddigan2009 - man shut up!! you're another one of em twats who thinks he the best in the trade!!!

  • I think these stilts would save me a lot of time, but since they are not legal in my province I can not find them any where.

  • i'll ship you a pair via Fed Ex, or whatever... brand new 48" Dura Stilts here in BC for $179.00,, fuck those compo dicks

  • 23 years plastering and i've never seen that done with a big caulker. Makes sense I suppose. Got to get some stilts too.

  • holy shit!
