  • Anyone else notice oermanent ptosis ( eye lid drooping) after wearing their contact lens and using the blink method. Allegedly, the pulling on the eye does something to the muscles and so you end up with a droopy lid :( Which I now have :( But usually its in longterm user, I was using for 3 - 4 years, and only noticed the ptosis off one eye -, because I've been wearing only one contact (long story) for the past 3 months.

  • Thanks - I used to wear RGPs years ago and just started again today, and was panicking this evening when I couldn't get one out the way my optomotrist told me years ago - basically your blink method, but she told me to look towards my nose between the pull & the blink - tried again just looking straight like you do here and it worked like a charm :). Phew, nice to know I don't have to call someone to watch my 6-month-old while I run off to the optomotrist feeling sheepish :P. Thank <3 :)!

  • @grinolyn Hi! :) You responded to my question back long ago. I just have a few questions that im afraid of. Can they break in your eye? Can they go in the back of your eye? I tried dong the pull back on and it went to the corner of my eye and i was freaking out. :)

  • Thx getting RGP contact lenses. Exited

  • Thanks. After 10 years of using the first method, found that it wasnt coming out cleanly. Method 2 worked beautifully.

  • hi, this video really helped! I got it out on the first try! :) I was wondering if it was normal that it kind of hurt when I blink(not when removing, just wearing it) I got my contacts yesterday.

  • @Shialuk I should receive my lenses in a week, was wondering if you managed to adapt to them? If yes how long did it take? thank you so much!

  • @sendricardo it just kind of happened, like wearing new glasses. you should be able to adapt to them by the end of the second week at most. Good Luck!

  • @Shialuk Thanks =)

  • @Shialuk Btw, I was just wondering: problems like light sensitivity, headaches or sensitivity to glare were overcome when u started using the lenses or do you experience these problems? (supposing that u did experience them before)

  • @sendricardo i didnt really have those problems, but if you do, you should remove them and call your optometrist

  • Thanks a bunch, out and up, worked like a charm...

  • Great video by the way

  • Can you do a video showing what to do when they get stuck in awkward places behind the eye lid?

  • @JenniferHL3 I just made a video. I hope it helps.

  • Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you

You are in my top 5 personals hero's

    Thank you

  • @Polmortel I hope they are still working wonderfully for you. I love the vision I get with them.

  • Thank you so much. I just started in RGPs and my plunger is like my lifeline because usng my hands is impossible. Ill try the blibk method ASAP. You explained it FAR better than the people at the doctors office.

  • Grinolyn, Thanks so much for posting this. I just got GP's yesterday and couldn't get them out. I was almost in tears and extremely frustrated. I stumbled on this video and had them out within minutes.

  • thank god for your video i just tried your method my contact lens was stuck and the plunger couldn't take it out thank you soo much

  • Thanks so much. I'm 12 years old and I always lose my plunger. Now I know how to take them out without the plunger. Great tutorial!

  • I can't seem to pull off the 2nd method. Glad I can just blink 'em out. Great tutorial by the way.

  • @marvelrocks11 Yeah! I have a believer- the blink method is my favorite. It is quick, easy (after getting the technique down of course) and safe and I always know the contact is going to land in my hand. I am proud of you!:)

  • I was just given my first hybrid lens, and was shown the cat eye method...not knocking it, but just wasn't working out for me. So I tried out the blink method and worked like a charm.....thank you for posting that tutorial

  • Thanks for the tips. I had such a hard time taking them off before, absolutely frustrating. The first way (pull towards ear) was the easiest. Took me over half an hour the first time, thanks to you it's getting better.

Do you put in eye drops throughout the day? This is my first week wearing these types of contact lenses and it just feels dry and rough all day.

  • @cindoodles55 Hey there! Did someone answer your question? I'm asking because I should receieve my lens in about a week, thank you so much.

  • wow thank you so much. I thought I would be wearing my lenses for the rest of the weekend since I forgot my plunger, but your first method worked really well, I just needs to wet my eyes first.

  • @maxX10114 Great idea! You know putting a drop of Blink or other rewetting drops actually help to break the seal of the contact right before taking it out. Too much rewetting can have the opposite effect.

  • i wish you could do that with soft contacts

  • @koolkat892 In a perfect world, right? :)

  • @grinolyn Your eyes look as if you had no contacts. Hopefully in the near future I'll get completely used to them like you. The blink method is the best.

  • Oh god thanks, [with the pull eye one!] they showed me at the doctors but it was too hard. Finally it was taking me an hour. But with that trick it toook me 6 minutes. L0L im still a beginner. Im 12 1/2 years old! I was crying already. I even prayed to all gods.

  • Thank you so much.... I thought I was never going to get my contacts out. I just started wearing my RGP lenses...

  • @hunniepie Your welcome! Enjoy your great vision. :)

  • @grinolyn Hi im 12 1/2...And i've been wearing them for a couple of days. Can you straighten your hair [bangs] when your wearing your RGP contacts? Or do it do it before? Plz reply!

  • @XxNerdy4EverxX Absolutely you can wear them. However, if you are chemically straightening your bangs and your sensitive to vapors, just leave them out. No big deal.

  • Thanks very much for your video. I recently started wearing a hard lens again as part of an Orthokeratology program - I have never learned to pop them out so I use a plunger. The lens I began wearing today is resistance to suction, so it won't reshape my eyeball so aggressively, but the resistance works the other way also, so my plunger won't work! Watched your video tonight and was able to successfully pop out the lens after repeatedly trying unsuccessfully with the plunger. Many, many thanks.

  • Oh my god, thanks sooo much for this video!! I just got my rgp lenses, and I've been trying to remove them for almost half an hour, so I went on youtube and found this video, and it literally took me less than a minute to get both contacts out of my eyes!! Thanks!! :D

  • @haydensaad You're more than welcome! Spread the word that RGP's not only give the best vision but they are just as easy to get in and out as soft lenses. Keep up the good work! :)

  • @grinolyn actually RGP's are easier to get in and put out that soft cl's.

  • @haydensaad Lucky! I didn't think of the internet after an hour and a half!

  • Thank you! That is my one and only reward is getting positive feedback that there are truly easy methods to get hard lenses out. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

  • @grinolyn Thank you very much!!! I now only need few seconds to get both of them out!!! You are a miracle!! :)

  • OMG!!!! This video is awesome. I found this video with my right contact in my eye, after trying for at least 35 minutes to get just the right one out!!! Thank you soooo much for even thinking to do this. It certainly helped me!!!!

  • I've had RGP lenses for over a year, and I still have trouble getting them out. The struggle with getting them out prevents me from wearing them. Sometimes it takes me 15-20 minutes to get them out. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I always come back to this video and usually after watching it, it takes me a few more minutes to finally get it out, so thanks!

  • I just got my Boston lenses today and wore them for the first time. Thanks for a great instructional video. I was watching it with a Boston lens in my left eye that I was trying to remove for over 30 min. I was able to remove the right lens by pulling on the eyelid (didn't know why that technique worked, it didn't work for the left eye). After watching the video, I was confident (using method #1) and popped out my left lens in seconds. Thanks again for the fine instructions.

    Ringomanrocks

  • @ringomanrocks I am glad I could help. There is actually a third method which has proven successful as well. Using two hands. One hand pulls up the upper eyelid. The other hand pulls down the lower eylid. Push the eyelids gently into the eye and then in slow motion move the eyelids in together to pop the contact off the eye. I think this may have worked for you as well.

  • @grinolyn Thanks for pointing out a third method for removing a RGP lens. Right now I am working on your method #2 and am having a bit of trouble "scooping" out the lens. At first, I thought the finger tips were doing the scooping but looking at the video closely; it looks like you use the lower lid to pry up the lens. I will keep practicing. At least I got method #1 to work. Again, thanks for a fine video. Much, much better than my optometrist's instructions on how to take out the lenses.

  • @grinolyn I had the same problem as ringomanrocks, like a few seconds ago. i'd been struggling to get my right contact lens out for the past 30 min or so, got so frustrated that i googled up how to remove rgp lenses and your video popped up! i used method #1 and it was out in seconds. thank you so much!! removing lenses can sometimes be an ordeal for me (i get super anxious) but i think it's going to be much better now. thanks again!

  • @ringomanrocks Hey! I have the same brand!

  • Can you make a video or offer some advice on how to reposition the contact lens? I was trying to take out my left lens this evening and it ended up on the white of my eye!! I finally got it out there, but it complicated things.

  • @capchemist Make a video. Hmmmm. While I ponder that let me give you a rule to follow. Look the opposite direction of where your contact is. What I mean is if your contact is on the white of the eye on the outside corner look toward your nose. If it is in the inside corner of your eye look away toward the outside. Now JUST USING YOUR EYELIDS take your finger and push and move your eyelid to gently move the contact back into position. NEVER push the contact with your finger. Corneal abrasn.

  • I'm getting my Boston EOs tomorrow! I'm so excited! I wore Soflens 66 Torics about 10 years ago but they would dry out so quick...

  • @capchemist Hey there, how has ur experience with RGP been so far?

  • @sendricardo Hey Ricardo,

My lenses kept slipping off under my eyelids. The vision was great when they sat right, but I was just never really happy. End of December I got PRK on my left eye and LASIK on my right eye - it's been fantastic. If you want to talk more feel free to find me on skype.

  • Thank you - I'm about to get my first fitting today and I'm nervous! Hopefully it will go ok. I like the first method.

  • @79siggy I hope your fitting and training went well. Let me know if you need any help! :) Good Luck!

  • @grinolyn fitting went fine, got them in and out first time thanks to you! They are a little uncomfortable but I'm slowly getting used to it.

  • @79siggy Hey so did u adapt well to the RGP?

  • kb3dow- I accidentally removed your comment, sorry. If you need anymore help give me a call at 615-822-2020.

  • Wow, you are full of sunshine! Good for you. Nice video.

  • Thank you for the vote of confidence! :)

  • Thanks for the video. My doc is ordering RGPs for me. Tried several soft toric lenses and none worked - they rotate too much. Hope the RGPs don't feel like a rock - like the poster before me said.

  • Maybe not rocks, but small gravel. And remember it is not your eyes that feel the uncomfortable sensation of rocks, it is your eyelids. Every time you blink your eyelids are moving over a foreign object. Your eyelids will get use to it.

  • Hi, I just got RGP's and they feel like a "rock" in my eye. First day, I could barely keep my eyes open. Does this improve? Do they feel better after the first week of wear? Thanks for anyone's help.

  • Yes that feeling will go away. It takes about 5 days before it eases up and about 2 weeks before you forget your even wearing them. I suggest you keep some rewetting drops in your pocket and put a drop in every hour or half hour. Start out wearing them for just a couple hours a day then increase the length everyday until you can wear them comfortably all day.

  • @BrianHallMCC Did you get use to the RGP? Thanks

  • Great Demo, hope I can get this good at it!

  • hi...im a student who is wearing RGP lenses..When dirt or small particles enter my eyes,it hurts. How can I remove the dirt or whatever inside my lens without taking it out?Because I wear these lenses to school and i cant possibly take it out...

  • @CuriousFrenz

Prevention is key. Anytime you go outside whether it is sunny or cloudy, wear sunglasses. Bring a bottle of solution with you to school. At bathroom breaks dowse your eyes with the solution. This seems to do the trick. But if your fast enough with taking out your contacts, the better answer is run the solution over the contacts and reinsert.
