9 times out of 10 the original is better than any cover. 9 times out of 10 the cover has better sound quality than the original (modern recording equipment and techniques versus now out-dated ones). This is my favorite modern band, not the best band, and they have plenty of average songs, but for whatever reason they are my favorite. This is a good cover, and yes the auto-tune is noticeable (he was suffering a lung infection), but if you look up his acoustic "solo" performance, he is really good

he has such a gift in his voice that he could take just about anything and make it a masterpice..he can control each note of his voice so perfectly..damn..they always have and always will be my favorite band of all time..every song on every album is a 10 out of 10..including the bonus tracks

If they knew how many people loved it, maybe they would do it live more if at all. @breakingqueengrace: I agree with you, both did great on the song, you definitely can't knock the originals but at the same time, I reach for BB more. If you have heard the other songs on the Killer Queen Tribute album though, you would have to say they were sucky interpretations....BB excluded, of course.
Obviously the original is the best but I think it is awesome that the newer generation of rockers is taking note of some of these great songs and introducing them to kids who otherwise might not have ever heard them and appreciate them. They by far did not destroy this song. Thanks!
Right so this is my fave Queen song and I am hearing a cover version of it... I can easily be cynical but I did listen to the song the whole way thorugh and the song does manage to pick up towards the end. But of course its no where near as good as the origional, but not a bad attempt.
As far as Queen covers go Metallica's version of Stone Cold Crazy is still the best :)
I have to say. I love Queen and I usually DO NOT like covers by other bands since they rarely do them justice. This and sum 41 did an exceptional job and really amazed me :).
Ben surely sings very well, and Breaking Benjamin DID a very good cover, but Freddie's voice is simply the most amazing man's voice I have ever heard...
I can't say I like it better than Queen's version, but I don't hate it. I do, however, have to give them props...they are taking on a LEGEND in Freddie Mercury, which is very hard...Freddie has a very distinctive sound that is damn hard to duplicate, and they did add in their own flair to make it their own. Overall, not a bad tribute to an incredible band and song.
Ben Burnley is the only person whos voice i could see contending with Freddy Mercury. Freddy's voice is cleaner but Ben seems to carry more emotion and can stand out in a song withheavy loud instrumental parts which Freddy I dont think can do very well.
Great version, Queen and expecially Freddie Mercury is indeed legendary, and their original is classic and fantastic. But Breaking Benjamin just made this song even better!

Actually his singing is quite good. The only thing that boggles me is the arrangement. It just doesn't go into those etherial places like the original that makes you think about life and death. The lyrics seemed to come across a little bit rushed as if it is a dance tune. NO!, NO!, NO! I need this song to take me places and it did not delivered. It really sounded like a good karaoke performance and the local sports bar. It's not bad, it's just isn't moving.

Ok so I was born in the 90's so this opinion is probably pretty biased. So I'd never heard this song before I heard this song until I heard the cover, and I thought it was pretty awesome. Then I looked at the comments and everyone was arguing and so I checked the original to decide for myself and I honestly like the cover more. But that doesn't matter.

You can't even compare the two songs. Although the lyrics are the same, they are performed very differently and deliver the same message very differently. I have always been a fan of BB, and like their cover, however, Freddy Mercury was a vocal power house, and a difficult act to follow. I think people are missing the point of a cover song. The whole point of a cover is for a more modern band to perform their own interpretation of a song based on their own style. I can't say I like it better than Queen's version, but I don't hate it. I do, however, have to give them props...they are taking on a LEGEND in Freddie Mercury, which is very hard...Freddie has a very distinctive sound that is damn hard to duplicate, and they did add in their own flair to make it their own. Overall, not a bad tribute to an incredible band and song.

Ben Burnley is the only person whos voice i could see contending with Freddy Mercury. Freddy's voice is cleaner but Ben seems to carry more emotion and can stand out in a song withheavy loud instrumental parts which Freddy I dont think can do very well.

Actually his singing is quite good. The only thing that boggles me is the arrangement. It just doesn't go into those etherial places like the original that makes you think about life and death. The lyrics seemed to come across a little bit rushed as if it is a dance tune. NO!, NO!, NO! I need this song to take me places and it did not delivered. It really sounded like a good karaoke performance and the local sports bar. It's not bad, it's just isn't moving.

Ok so I was born in the 90's so this opinion is probably pretty biased. So I'd never heard this song before I heard this song until I heard the cover, and I thought it was pretty awesome. Then I looked at the comments and everyone was arguing and so I checked the original to decide for myself and I honestly like the cover more. But that doesn't matter.
That said I can see where everyone is coming from because they're both completely different, you have BB and Queen what do you expect. Besides

Fact of the matter is if you truly love and respect a band/song but you don't have to talent to cover the song, you should stay the hell away from it.
This guy has no where near the range and vocal talent Freddy had and therefore should have left well enough alone.
"artistic interpretation" is a term often keyed by fanboys of sub-par bands who need an excuse for a cover/song to suck. this is no different.
Despite multiple chances i give i yet again find myself underwhelmed by this "band".

@onesockgamer9 I try to give every group a chance, fact is bands have different styles of songs that they will play and are better at some than others, so by short selling a band on one song really isn't doing them any justice.
In addition taking a different sound to a song isn't so bad, but if you are so talentless that you have to sing at a lower octave AND auto-tune more than a Taylor Swift song you have no business covering a song. It's disrespectful.

You can't even compare the two songs. Although the lyrics are the same, they are performed very differently and deliver the same message very differently. I have always been a fan of BB, and like their cover, however, Freddy Mercury was a vocal power house, and a difficult act to follow. In my mind, no group can convey the songs message they way Queen did. Nonetheless, I enjoyed BB's version just the same

It's funny, I first heard BB in their song "Blow me away" by a coincidence in 2008. It's been my favourite song ever since, sung by the best alternative-rock band there is.

I think people are missing the point of a cover song. The whole point of a cover is for a more modern band to perform their own interpretation of a song based on their own style. I personally love both versions, and it's just wrong to say one is horrible or worse than the other. I love Queen and always will, but Breaking Benjamin is also awesome. I might also add that Ben Burnley (lead singer of Breaking Benjamin) has one of the best voices in his own genre, so stop bashing please.
