Good for you. Good luck with your teaching. And the truth? I think people have the right to ask people "what you are" and you have the right to not respond, if you feel uncomfortable with the question. I don't think everyone knows they're being perceived as when they ask.

I guess I'm strange. It doesn't annoy me now as it did when I was little. People are pretty cool and I know when they are trying to figure out and I laugh when they can't guess and they pull tactics. (For instance they have me fill out a form and I put other and they give me a dirty look lol.) The,what are you question, was interesting. I made a guy mad at me once and he called me every racial and ethnic slur he could think of hoping that he get the one that would make me mad. I just laughed.
