All of you who are against Michael Moore's Generous Donations and Absolutely Phenomonal Documentary Skill are just Crazy Morons who just think that you always have to be right!
If you don't understand the god damn point that Your Insurance Companies are Cheating you of both Money and Healthcare, than i'm assuming you all want to live in a world where you lose money and then die from lack of sufficient healthcare.
God bless Michael Moore, One of the Best Documentary Filmers in the World
When governements make rules & regulate for the common good then that's SOCIALISM. (See I capitalized it so that makes it true)
But a private company making rules and regulations to profit them at your expense is CAPITALISM and therefore FREEDOM!
Paying a large chunk of one's income to a soulless company that will let you die if they fail to see a profit in keeping you alive is part of living in a free country.
Its a gradual process. There will be this nationalistic ignorance until it is slowly taken down by people who actually know what the hell they are talking about and give a shit. You want some real free speech? Go burn a flag. Burn it until it starts to stand for something good, decent, truthful and American.
Don't make God angry, don't make him your enemy. Only he can solve this man-made problem, because once again man has lost the plot. "Vengeance is mine."
This shows the intelligence of these folks, I would never take healthcare advice from someone that looked like Michael Moore. I can hear it now, dad-I want to look like that whale in a ball cap when I grow up.
I'm a guy-it would be like me getting sex advice from Rosie O'Donnell. Majorly pass on this guy-he is an avid communist.
My father did lawn work and chores for Mike years ago. Said he was always helping people around town and what not. Us Michiganders can be proud of him. He's not perfect by any means but he is radical and passionate, that is what we are lacking in America. He can be a bit of a attention hog (no pun intended) but he is a real person trying to spread awareness the best way he can. Thanks Mike.
I always liked Michael Moore when I first saw his early work, when I saw the endless hateful diatribes against him I felt the pressure to pretend I didn't like him. Well fuck that, I love this guy, how about that? A valuable human being, who cares about people sincerely and makes eye opening documentaries.
If you want government run health care then I want to see you exercise everyday like jog 2-3 miles, I want you to get to bed by at least 11 p.m. and get 8 hours of sleep. I want you to eat three square healthy meals a day and no junk food and be the healthiest you can be. Until then, stop trying to rob people, socialize health care would be great if it help really sick people with genetic diseases or cancer or accidents and not lazy idiots that want something for nothing.
Senate Republicans have shown their TRUE colors. They're all in the pockets of Wall Street & the big Banks.
They have promised banks to gut the authority of the new Consumer Financial Protection Agency, and they want to continue giving Wall Street investment banks who make risky unregulated gambles like Goldman Sachs, FDIC deposit insurance and low interest government money.
They are blocking financial reform & selling us out for $millions in campaign contributions from the fat cats.
@MotionFrequency I'm from Canada, and what you said about a National Healthcare Coverage Plan is so grossly wrong it's incredible.
Part of the reallocation of funds in the US bill pre-Public Option dismissal converged from proper trimming of other national treasuries with inflated budgets. As well, all goes on as usual with you and your doctor; the only thing different is the statement you no longer have to incur in the mail concerning payment.
I really wish everyone would understand that by supporting people who deny universal healthcare you are essentially supporting the deaths of thousands. You're KILLING people. I don't care how you label it or what dogma you use, that NEVER becomes okay.
@poopstreek health cares are corporations. If we make them government ran than it's easier to keep track of. It's easier to change our government than all these corporations.
@S1NN3RSTOWN702 Why don't we just eliminate all corporations, and turn all of our affairs over to the government? I hope you understand that the health care companies LOVE Obama for forcing us to buy their product. Now that we are forced by law to buy health care, they can charge whatever they want! Look at how broke Social Security and Medicare are, why would you trust the government to run ANYTHING? At least if a business screws up, they go under--If the gov screws up, they get promoted.
OBAMA blew it. His original bill w/no compromises was the bill to pass or not pass.Obama should have shoved that down the repubs throats, Didn't anyone pay attention to Medicare's history w/Truman? Truman received the first medicare cared in 1965.
If this doesn't pass, I'm going to die. My medication to keep me alive and (working) costs $4,000 a month. My insurence will only pay for $500. They must think as a blue collar worker I can aford to pay $3,500 a month for 1 perscription. Plus the $50 dollar copay a month to use them. Plus the $300 a month I pay to get insurence. And the $4,000 a year pay down in order to use the insurance. Is there no end to greed?
If you want to keep your system in Canada where more government control is supposedly a virtue, then fine. But all I got to say is fuck your god damn Communist system. And fuck you.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
the argument that socialism is a better alternative to capitolism is about as effective as a fart in the wind.Capitolism itself is not evil, whats evil is the crooks who use it as a means to control everything.Try explaining this to a Liberal is like trying to explain to them that a toaster isnt evil just because some idiot decided to stick a fork in one.Basically they want to exchange a system of exponential potential for free mankind for a system were the government control absolutely, fools.
I believe,if this is a so-called great,or should I say the greatest country in the world as those stupid conservatives like to point to,then I believe this country should prove itself as being the "the greatest country in the world",By providing universal healthcare to its citizens as Cuba and Canada does. Tell me again. who's the greatest country in the world? Blow it out of your you know what!
a death sentence moore? Should we assume that because the government just doesn't give away houses that the government is to blame for homelessness? See, liberals don't understand the whole philosophy of property (Lockean principles on which this country was built). You can't argue that you deserve a house or healthcare or even food in a court of law...Those simply are not rights. If they were the government would have to give houses and food away to every1 in the country.
I did not watch this video but I see "interesting discussion". Socialized medicine is not a good idea. Forcing people to buy something is illegal. The reason health care in the states is expensive and they can do what they want is because of government. They created monopolies by not letting us buy over state lines. There are something like 1,300 insurance companies in this country and it most states your lucky if you're allowed to buy from 5. Whose fault is that? Let the free market work.
I see we are hearing from the usual social Darwinist morons who somehow feel health care is a privilege reserved for those who can afford it. Maybe when they get seriously ill and their insurance company weasels out of the coverage they paid for they will finally get it!!
Strange...that's not what I hear from the veterans in my community, and I am friends with several.
Admittedly, the VA seems to have been gutted by the cowardly chicken hawks in Congress that are all-too-willing to send other people's family members to fight for their kororate whoremasters in foreign countries, then completely ignore them when they finish the job they took on in good faith, coming home injured and disabled.
The way the U.S. treats its veterans is a disgrace.
I DO NOT WANT SOCIALIZED MEDICINE. I WILL NEVER WANT SOCIALIZED MEDICINE. OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS, IF THEY WANT TO CONTROL PEOPLE'S LIVES LIKE THIS, NEED TO MOVE TO SOME OTHER COUNTRY, RUN FOR OFFICE, AND CONTROL THOSE IGNORANT MASSES IN THOSE COUNTRIES.
We didn't become a great country by following Canada's lead. Quite the opposite.
SO YOU WANT CORPORATIZED, PROFIT-DRIVEN MEDICINE. INSTEAD OF BEING "CONTROLLED" BY ELECTED OFFICIALS (that we can at least vote out of office), YOU ACCEPT HAVING OUR LIVES CONTROLLED BY KORPORATE CEOS AND WALL STREET BANKERS, ACCOUNTABLE TO NO-ONE.
I'm for free market health care, not corporatized medicine. There's a big distinction between the two. Contrary to popular belief, we don't have a truly free market health care system. That's the problem.
@merrimac291 : Granted, the health care systems in France and Switzerland are run by private corporations. However, they are forbidden by law to make profits on their products - these are NON-PROFIT companies.
Sadly, "Obamacare" is going to give us the worst of both worlds: instead of being allowed to buy into a non-profit option, we are now all going to be forced to buy from these same vile, predatory, blood-sucking korporations who will continue to raise premiums and deny care
This is just another example of how crapitalism has seized our so-called "democracy" by the throat and is using it to enslave all of us.
I for one plan to DEFY this law. NOBODY forced me to do business with ANY PRIVATE COMPANY that I don't choose to do business with. This is FASCISM, plain and simple and I WILL NOT STAND FOR IT. WHO'S WITH ME?
We wouldn't have an illegal immigrant problem if we just enforced the laws we already have and penalized the companies that hire them. They wouldn't come here if it weren't for the jobs.
As for the wealth you create and the question of whether or not you should share it - I'm guessing then that you didn't use our roads, our water systems, our police, our courts to enforce your contracts, our electric grid, etc. - you did it ALL ON YOUR OWN.
But let's assume that we can take it back. Then the question becomes, is America a ME society in which every individual is left to fend for him or herself - or a WE society, in which we care for the least among us, help one another and share that which belongs to all of us together and none of us alone (i.e., the Commons) as opposed to making those things a for-profit commodity for the benefit of the very few?
If Jesus was walking the earth today . . . long hair, unmarried, wandering around with a group of guys, ex-prostitutes . . . calling out the "religious" leaders as hypocrites - modern day conservatives and Republicans would have NOTHING to do with Him. They would MOCK Him (and His liberal ways).
The problem I have with your worldview is that you speak of government as THEM. Last time I checked, government was supposed to be US.
Granted, it has been stolen from us over the past thirty years and is now controled by institutions that don't give a s**t whether we live or die, just as long as they can continue to steal everything in sight.
I hate to have to agree with Moore everytime but as a Christian I am called to help heal, clothe & feed the poor.
Universal health care that doesn't leave 18 yr old girls who catch rare painful diseases alone to sleep in a box under the freeway and scream in pain all night because they can't afford $5000 pills for pain seems somehow wrong to me. Or at the very least, in direct violation of my beliefs as a Christian.
Nobody who opposes helping the sick can call themselves a Christian.
So, you're better off with some CEO, completely unaccountable to We The People, making that decision based on next quarter's P&L statement and his company's stock price?
And frankly, government did all of those things just fine before Reagan and his lackeys began dismantling all the controls. THEY DELIBERATELY BROKE government, then handed it back and said - "See? It doesn't work!" Then handed it over to global korporate control.
THAT'S slavery. At least we can vote out a government.
Update regarding Dennis Kucinich's vote regarding the Healthcare reform bill. Dennis had a news conference today stating that he will be voting yes for the bill. Dennis now joins all the other sellouts in Congress. I worked for him and fully supported him when he ran for president in 2008 - I will no longer support him in any way. Dennis you sold out your Integrity. I hope the free ride on Air force one was worth it to you.
And for the love of god learn to type and spell properly!!! I misspelled one word and it pissed me off. Most people here on the other hand cannot even express themselves properly let alone type. WTF?!?!? Don't you proofread what you write? Doesn't look good people. Especially for native-English users.
And if you think communism in the USSR failed, think again. What the USSR did in 50 years the world has yet to see. As to why it failed? Maybe the fact that billions of dollars went towards that very same cause?! I mean seriously read a history book. Just flip through it. If all the Soviets were starved peasants how did they wnet to space and basically become a Superpower bigger than the USA. Can you imagine if the Soviets were as arrogant as the US. WWIII anyone? Well they weren't.
And Google communism. Read what the theories have to say and then judge. At least TRY to show some intelect and not just jump up and scream "I am a half-educated mind fucked demo version of a human being and proud of it". It's not cool.
This is a response for all those in favour of profit. The only way for you to understand that capitalism is bad is if you are driven to pay shitloads of cash for something as fundamental as health. Not before. Only if you lose your house will you understand. In other words only if the train hits you will you see it coming. And that is just sad. We are talking about economic theories that are used to regulate entire nations. Study soemthing before you reject it. At least Google socialism.
In some European countries where they have health insurance the companies are forbidden to profit from it. They are required to pay claims.
There is a difference between government controlled health care and government financed health care. Control should be doctor/patient ONLY. Money should be Doctor/government only. Patient privacy must be primary too. There is a right way to do it and still save money.
I can understand why Michael Moore is hated. He stands up against the Insurance industry, the financial thieves, fake morality. He is often very simplistic but the overall themes in his documentaries are anything but. He hates predatory capitalism, predatory lending, & I disagree with him 30-50% of the time. Al gore took on Big Tobacco & Big Oil & they will never forget or forgive. They will even use the same PR ppl, & the same tactics to discredit Moore & Gore.
@LORKops: Yeah, vote for Ron Paul or any other 3rd, 4th party candidate who will be used & encouraged by the RNC to draw independents from voting democratic. The RNC will hype a Paul candidacy & convince as many as possible that he can't lose while working to make sure he does. To compare Olbermann to Fox Hoes is insanity &/ or psychosis. There is something called bias that is accurate & bias that is liar-4-hire propaganda. Hannity is part of the FNC/ RNC coalition along with joke Glenn Beck.
all those teaparty people... we could have had a good thing, now its watered down. but still better. SO CALL your representatives and tell them YOU need healthcare INSURANCE REFORM, and it needs to improve from there on
And if, as your name suggests, you were a member of the U.S. Navy, you no doubt enjoy the VA healthcare you have certainly earned by virtue of your service.
"Socialist" government-run form of health care, I believe, and I've yet to hear any vets complain about it.
Okay, this one is obviously a paid troll for the korporate machine. Far be it for me to judge - I'm a literary whore myself. The crapitalist system makes whores of us all, apparently...I just hope those insurance companies are making it worth your while ;)
haha...that's cute how you use "troll"...like you're finally catching on to the youtube lingo. You are so far gone. There's no way to reason with you. You have placed yourself in this world of self-inflicted pain. You need to get out, pick yourself up from your own bootstraps, and stop whining about not getting what you're owed. Oh and thank you for your complements about the "korporate" machine sending me. I obviously can reason so well that people will actually pay me to do so!! Thanks!
Fine...I bow to your vast wisdom. Obviously the CEOs at these health insurance companies know better than trained doctors what treatments we need, and poor people in the US are jst lazy and stupid (even if they do work two or three jobs) and should just be allowed to die and decrease the surplus population, and we should simply allow the wealthy aristocracy - obviously chosen by God to rule over us because they were smart enough to get rich - to determine what is best for all of us.
The dumbass cuntservatives in the US obviously suffer from "battered wife" syndrome - either that, or you've all got such limp little dicks that you have strut around puffing your chest out bragging about how "tough" you are, doing it all on your own with NO help from ANYONE and defending a corrupt system that is RAPING YOU UP THE ASS. (Hell, maybe you all LIKE that.)
Tell you what - when your house catches fire, DON'T rely on that "socialist" fire department - go to the yellow pages and look up some of those f**king private companies that to everything so much better - call a few while your house is burning down around you and get some bids.
Same thing when someone breaks into your house - don't call that SOCIALIST police department - and for heaven's sake, pull your kids out of those SOCIALIST public schools and PAY BIG BUCKS to some private corporation.
the only thing you're good for is touting the party line. please point to the phrase or sentence where i was defending corporate america? I'm defending our healthcare system. the great health care we get from the worlds smartest doctors and nurses!!! the system IS broken..but government takeover is NOT the answer! PLEASE POINT TO AN AREA WHERE THE GOVERNMENT IS OPERATING AT AN EFFICIENT LEVEL!!! PLEASE!!! If you can then you steer me closer to your opinion!
The government is there to protect us from "evil corporations"!!! not to take them over!!! capitalism has shown that it works. but it goes bad when the government isn't doing their jobs in looking out for the people. The government was not set up to take over the private sector.
Let's differentiate between "free enterprise/entrepreneurialsm" and "crapitalism." They are two different things.
Entrepreurialism does very well when it comes to providing consumer goods- a better car, a better computer, better shoes - you are absolutely right that Soviet-style government-run factories are a BAD idea, and result in shoddy products.
I'm even willing to admit that Bill Gates made his money honestly (though maybe not the people who work under him).
However, nobody NEEDS Windows like they NEED health care. Nobody NEEDS a new car or a better computer.
When it comes to the "Commons" - that which we NEED to live - the corporate capitalists, grown "too big to fail" and thus too big to exist have demonstrated that life, liberty and the pursuit of happines means NOTHING compared to their endless need for MORE and the expense of everyone else. Remember "Monopoly"?
Anyone who does business is entitled to make a profit ...
...but there needs to be two other "Bottom Lines:" the environment and the greater good of society.
Under the current system, these corporations have clearly demonstrated that human life and the environment means NOTHING to them.
If, as you achknowledge, the government's job is to protect is from corporate excesses, they'd better start doing some protecting NOW - or there won't be gated communities secure enough to protect their CEOs and stockholders.
I think I can agree with just about everything you said. My complaint is that the government is too lazy to FIX the problem, so they just take it over. That is not the America that I've read about nor the one I want to live in. We are not like the rest of the world. We are the exception. Government needs to regulate..BUT they don't need to just keep taxing. those are two different things. They need to also promote job growth by lessening the tax burden yet still be a regulatory establishment.
Lower taxes on who, though? The small businesses that provide most of the jobs in this country and the self-employed - damn straight (speaking as a self-employed person making well under $40K a year).
Those huge, multi-nationals that have shipped jobs out of the country, still benefit from doing business in this country and have enjoyed astronomical profits even as they screw Amican workers - THESE need to be taxed at a rate of 90%.
I don't believe that we (the government) should profit from corporations doing wrong. So they should not be taxed 90%, they should be more heavily regulated. The U.S. is in the top 5 most taxing countries in the world. That is not the answer. Smarter government is the answer. Smarter in doing what's best for the American people. I do agree about small business..they are the backbone of the economy. There's not a one-answer solution to this. ppl like olbermann do not have the answer..or Rush.
Why not? We the people provide these corporations with infrastructure. They use our water, our roads, our police, our fire departments, our energy sources to a much greater extent than you or I. Why shouldn't they pay proportionately for using these things? And why should they be allowed to internalize ALL their profits while foisting their costs of doing business onto the taxpayer?
Isn't it interesting that the John Roberts court gave corporations (and arguably, labor unions and non-profits - but how much money do THEY have to influence our elections?) HUMAN rights, but have absolved them from all HUMAN RESPONSIBILITIES and accountabilty.
When a human steals or commits murder, s/he is charged and tried in criminal court and if found guilty, goes to prison.
When corporations steal or commit murder, they MIGHT pay a small fine.
but you show me in the constitution where the government is responsible for providing health care. I'll show you where it IS constitutional for government to protect property. You can't just make blanket statements like that.
"LIFE, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." How do you have life without medical care when you need it? How can you have liberty when an illness or injury can cost you everything you own?
How is that even protecting property if you can lose it all to excessive medical bills because someone has to make obscene profits on something that is a human RIGHT?
WHY is America the ONLY industrialized nation that fails to recognize this? It has made the USA the pathetic joke of the world.
hahaha!! first of all, you have no idea what was going on with my comment...obviously. otherwise you wouldn't have commented. second, sycophant??? do you even know what that means? because it doesn't apply here.
You are TRULY a great great caring American....thank you for telling the truth and how it is....
And I ALWAYS KNEW - Dennis Kucinich was the ONLY honest straight forward ma in congress....what a corrupt greedy selfish system and politicians we have.....
And for everyone who believes that our corporatized, privatized, profit-driven health care "system" is just fine - come back and tell us all how great it is when YOU have been denied care you thought you PAID for - or get thrown off your "insurance" altogether through no fault of your own.
My argument is not that everything is fine the way it is. But the governments answer is always to just "take it over". Why can't we be smart and figure out the real problems with our healthcare? The true fact is that we have the BEST health care in the world. Have you thought of what will happen if the gvt takes that over? Can you point to any program that is running smoothly and under (or at least AT) budget? This is not a republican/democrat argument. just think about the entire scenario.
This makes me sick. There are countless opportunities for people of ANY financial status to receive medical attention. There are instututions around this nation that provide FREE medical care for those who cannot afford it! One example is the bloch foundation that will fly families ANYWHERE in the country to be treated for free!! We want to give up Americas ground-breaking medical achievements for FREE healthcare?? ppl from all over the world come HERE to get our "crappy" healthcare.
The Bloch Foundation appears to be a fine thing for cancer patients, though I must wonder why more cancer victims don't seem to take advantage of it (and why this is the first I ever heard about it - they sure don't promote their program).
Unfortunately, there are many other diseases and conditions that "charity" from the private sector ignores. My wife is a Type I diabetic, we cannot get ANY kind of "insurance" at ANY price, and the out-of-pocket costs for her insulin keep going up and up.
Now, if you have any information about where we can get her diabetic supplies for low or no cost, PLUS regular medical exams and monitoring to keep her healthy without having to bankrupt ourseives, I'll be happy to hear about it. I certainly haven't been able to find anything, but I know that just across the border in Canada, her insulin costs about half what it does here - but the good corporate Republicans have made it illegal for us to get it from a Canadian pharamcy
Interesting how the "CON"servatives are fine with getting government out of CORPORATIONS lives but are more than happy to insert themselves in our PERSONAL PRIVATE lives.
wait...is that a comment for me? I'm sorry to hear about your wife. But the truth is that you can be proactive in receiving help even without having insurance. On the most simple of levels, you can ask your doctor if she/he has samples on the insulin, they almost always do. Second, you can write to the makers of that insulin and ask for financial assistance. you can't blame the reps for blocking you getting your meds in canada, it's EVERYONE in washington.
And please don't say that i'm a "CON"servative. or that all conservatives are evil. The fact is that we are all americans. Why would I be cheering for corporations who in the end will screw me? The truth is that anyone, be it the govt or corporations, WILL screw us if we aren't proactive in keeping them all accountable. don't just buy into the olbermann style of thinking..think for yourself..maybe take a US History class at JUCO. It might help gain historical perspective.
In the 21st century, healthcare SHOULD NOT DEPEND ON CHARITIES. We live in a (I hope) civilized world, not in feudalism where the lord of the Manor trough his great charitable deeds takes care of his peasants.
As for your invitation to give up my (Dutch) healthcare system and go enjoy the American one, NO THANK YOU. Our healthcare system isnt run for profit.
The sad truth for you is that the advances for your dutch healthcare depend on American medical education. There's a reason why people from around the globe come here to go to school. We have the best. We are on the cutting-edge in technology. So that's great that you have your healthcare. No one's asking you to come here. It's called the great experiment. Our country is like none other in the world. You should thank our dads for saving your dads in WW2. show respect.
I should also add that I was one of those people for whom this great "private" insurance was not there when I needed it. When my wife and I started going blind a few years back, the insurance covered about HALF - leaving us with $6000 in debts that five years later I am STILL paying.
Oh...and they kicked us off about six months later.
I then signed on with Adova Health - for $300 a month - for which they were at least supposed to cover prescriptions. When I attempted to use this "insurance" however, it was NOT accepted.
I called this company repeatedly, and got NO response. Only when I stopped paying on this useless, bulls**t "insurance did they bother to return my calls. THEY STOLE $600 OF MY BLOOD AND SWEAT.
This MURDERING Crapitalist health care system is corrupt, evil, self-serving, criminal - and MURDERS 45,000 PEOPLE A YEAR in the name of PROFITS. It needs to go SCREAMING DOWN TO THE LOWEST PITS OF HELL, as does ANYONE WHO SUPPORTS IT.
BTW, here's a little irony - if my wilfe and I had gone blind, we'd have been eligible for SSI and disability payments - which would have cost the taxpayers a WHOLE lot more than the surgery.
It's at times like this (When I see the kindness and genuine generosity of others) that I tell myself " We're not all bad. There are still good people out there."
I love the fact that Christian conservatives hate Michael Moore when he's what Christianity is all about. If Jesus came down, he'd take Moore with him and throw all the Right wing Christians down to hell, those pigs managed to make greed and dis-care for your neighbor a virtue. Right wing politics are fascinating, poor people are poor because they're to lazy to work, they're against gays but loved getting fucked in the ass on weekends, they're all hypocrites.
Yes and its amazon that a lot of this idiots are poor and still don't get it. Look at DEMCAD here on youtube a classic conservative and classic on foodstamp black american.
He gets all the facts but he is still demanding lower taxex for more jobs and all the other bullshit.
Conservatives have a lower IQ - thats scientifically proven. Unfortunately evolution is working too slow to see them becoming extinct.
Moore doesn't go far enough - healthcare will never be affordable if natural remedies are ignored and prevention. Read WHY ANIMALS DON'T GET HEART ATTACKS, BUT PEOPLE DO by Matthias Rath, MD
The more I understand American politics, the more I feel sorry for its citizens. From Canada, it's clear to see that private military contractors, investment bankers, international oil corporations, private health care insurrance companies and even anti-gay christian fundamentalists churches are all doing their best to mislead your country into a dark place. American voters should wake up and start noticing the trubbling socio-economic realities their facing, because you're going the wrong way.
As somebody who watches what happens in the US from a distance, I cant help by being amazed by what is happening there. We lived trough the difficult Bush years with the hope that the Americans will finally wake up and people who can fix things in charge. Instead, we got a washed out insipid Democratic administration that refuses to rock the boat and to the right thing.
The president who was supposed to usher in a new era proved to be timid like a day old puppy. Im sorry to say, but all that yes we can chanting proved itself to be nothing but a hollow campaign slogan. Meanwhile, on Wallstreet theres business as usual and it seams that the US wont get what the rest of us have when it comes to healthcare.
What the heck is the matter with that country? It seems to me that they are still fighting last centurys battles, while the rest of the world has moved on. It is as if the whole US is in self destruct mode.
@MissingGWdotcom I really find that phrase insulting. If your country (as in the elected goverment that manages the country) does not do anything then what need is there for one? The goverment is elected to do a job. If the goverment throws its responsibilities back to the people than it is a bad goverment. If you hire a builder to make you a house and he told you do not ask what I can build for you but what you can build for yourself and you listened to him, you are clinicaly insane.
Oh we need the government in a support role, doing things private industry does not want to do or cannot do, we need a government to support laws between neighbors, we need the gov to give temporary help as most need it some time.
But let us make choices while keeping Government to 19% of GNP, if not the jockey is too fat for the hoarse and this means not taking over every aspect of our lives.
Hay you see the progressive socialist dems want to take over your 401k? That is right because the world market is slowing down on buying USA bonds to cover the debt so the progressives want to take over your 401k forcing you to buy a percentage of USA bonds because no one else will buy them? good idea?
If anything the trend should be the other way, we should always be looking at getting gov out of it not taking it over.
That is funny if you listen to the East European leaders that grew up under socialism they will tell you the Russia always insisted it was not their system but the lazy East Europeans, it was always their fault not wanting to give the fruits of their labor to their neighbors.
The good news is moderate DEMS and Americans are saying no, no and hell no to Obama far left crash into the concrete wall.
Hay I understand America does not travel in a straight line, it zig and zags to the right, then left then back.
America got fooled into thinking the Obama was a centerist and would do all the amazing and transparent crap he said he would do, now they know it was a lie as the polls show.
Look the fact is like Carter, Obama is a GOP gift from God as not even the mainstream press can protect him.
It is ok, the house will be fine as soon as we get the bad workers on their way.
Oh the good old days when 111 DEMs voted for the Iraq war but today Obama has to bribe his own party with backroom deals, jobs, threats, campaign money etc. to pass healthcare a majority of Americans do not want but Obama claims he just knows better so they rewrite the rules to pass it anyways. Did I wake up in the USSR?
@MissingGWdotcom No unfortunately you did not wake up in the USSR. If you had you would have free healthcare, free schools, free universities, a house and a job that lasted only for 8 hours. Too bad the capitalist countries like USA funded Talibans (your old friends now your enemies) and others to sabotage from the inside the USSR.
Free healthcare also means someone is paying your share and their share for it.
Personaly I do not want you paying or me paying for your healthcare, schools, a house, and I want to work as hard as I want and usualy do 60 hours a week or so but that is me.
Not sure what you are talking about but did the USA support the resistance (pre taliban) in afghan against the USSR, yes, of course, did Bush and Clinton try the carrot with the Taliban, yes of course.
I kinda know that but let the trend go the other way towards less government and more choices in schools not the other way.
Did you see this news a couple of days ago as Obama changes the school system?
"[I]t appears that despite some promising rhetoric, this blueprint places 100 percent of the responsibility on teachers and gives them zero percent authority," AFT President Randi Weingarten
I'm 21 and I don't have any health insurance because I took a break from college. Will I be able to get back on my parents insurance plan once this bill is passed? ...even though I'm still pulling for h.r.676
Moore is usually a bit more charismatic but here he is really bummed that this bill will be passed, and how the gov really is fu@#ed up. lets wake up,we have the right to throw off corrupt gov.!!!!
@jasonnissan1 This isn't about government. The corruption in this comes from the profit motive of the health insurance companies, who hold sway over our government. It doesn't have to be this way. In Canada, France, and many other countries, their governments provide them with free healthcare. If more Americans knew that, they might not think "government" is the problem.
thats right, obama is an insurance rep.i forgot.get out of here......you know they are all tied together, and there is no denying that.enough said dont bother me no more......save it dude.
Thats wrong. We don't have a free healthcare system in Germany. It's extremely expensive and i have to move to social welfare twice because i couldn't pay the additional 350 Euro for my insurrance.
The difference is that we have a time unlimited welfare program to cover the cost when you make not enough money or don't have a job
So it's the whole social security net that is missing in the USA and this was not killed by Ronald Reagan - it was Bill Clinton. You should never forget and forgive

But a private company making rules and regulations to profit them at your expense is CAPITALISM and therefore FREEDOM!
Paying a large chunk of one's income to a soulless company that will let you die if they fail to see a profit in keeping you alive is part of living in a free country.

A real life example of socialized medicine:
My grandma, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, is waiting for surgery on her second eye for cataracts.
The wait is caused by a maintenance shutdown of the surgical equipment.
Within 3 to 5 weeks she will have had her 2nd surgery and will be seeing perfectly.
How is that for death panels and the removal of non productive members of society in socialized medicine?

a death sentence moore?

FreedomTrumpsForce 2 years ago
I see we are hearing from the usual social Darwinist morons who somehow feel health care is a privilege reserved for those who can afford it. Maybe when they get seriously ill and their insurance company weasels out of the coverage they paid for they will finally get it!!

I'm for free market health care, not corporatized medicine. There's a big distinction between the two. Contrary to popular belief, we don't have a truly free market health care system. That's the problem.
merrimac291 2 years ago
@merrimac291 : Granted, the health care systems in France and Switzerland are run by private corporations. However, they are forbidden by law to make profits on their products - these are NON-PROFIT companies.
Sadly, "Obamacare" is going to give us the worst of both worlds: instead of being allowed to buy into a non-profit option, we are now all going to be forced to buy from these same vile, predatory, blood-sucking korporations who will continue to raise premiums and deny care

Glad that you at least acknowledge that business should and must play by the rules - and we need those rules back...NOW.
BardCoennius 2 years ago
Let's differentiate between "free enterprise/entrepreneurialsm" and "crapitalism." They are two different things.
Entrepreurialism does very well when it comes to providing consumer goods- a better car, a better computer, better shoes - you are absolutely right that Soviet-style government-run factories are a BAD idea, and result in shoddy products.
I'm even willing to admit that Bill Gates made his money honestly (though maybe not the people who work under him).
BardCoennius 2 years ago
However, nobody NEEDS Windows like they NEED health care. Nobody NEEDS a new car or a better computer.
When it comes to the "Commons" - that which we NEED to live - the corporate capitalists, grown "too big to fail" and thus too big to exist have demonstrated that life, liberty and the pursuit of happines means NOTHING compared to their endless need for MORE and the expense of everyone else. Remember "Monopoly"?
Anyone who does business is entitled to make a profit ...
BardCoennius 2 years ago
...but there needs to be two other "Bottom Lines:" the environment and the greater good of society.
BardCoennius 2 years ago
I think I can agree with just about everything you said. My complaint is that the government is too lazy to FIX the problem, so they just take it over. That is not the America that I've read about nor the one I want to live in. We are not like the rest of the world. We are the exception. Government needs to regulate..BUT they don't need to just keep taxing. those are two different things. They need to also promote job growth by lessening the tax burden yet still be a regulatory establishment.
calebreasons 2 years ago
Lower taxes on who, though? The small businesses that provide most of the jobs in this country and the self-employed - damn straight (speaking as a self-employed person making well under $40K a year).
Those huge, multi-nationals that have shipped jobs out of the country, still benefit from doing business in this country and have enjoyed astronomical profits even as they screw Amican workers - THESE need to be taxed at a rate of 90%.
BardCoennius 2 years ago
I don't believe that we (the government) should profit from corporations doing wrong. So they should not be taxed 90%, they should be more heavily regulated. The U.S. is in the top 5 most taxing countries in the world. That is not the answer. Smarter government is the answer. Smarter in doing what's best for the American people. I do agree about small business..they are the backbone of the economy. There's not a one-answer solution to this. ppl like olbermann do not have the answer..or Rush.
calebreasons 2 years ago
BardCoennius 2 years ago
Isn't it interesting that the John Roberts court gave corporations (and arguably, labor unions and non-profits - but how much money do THEY have to influence our elections?) HUMAN rights, but have absolved them from all HUMAN RESPONSIBILITIES and accountabilty.
When a human steals or commits murder, s/he is charged and tried in criminal court and if found guilty, goes to prison.
When corporations steal or commit murder, they MIGHT pay a small fine.
What's wrong with this picture?
BardCoennius 2 years ago

WHY is America the ONLY industrialized nation that fails to recognize this? It has made the USA the pathetic joke of the world.

calebreasons 2 years ago
The Bloch Foundation appears to be a fine thing for cancer patients, though I must wonder why more cancer victims don't seem to take advantage of it (and why this is the first I ever heard about it - they sure don't promote their program).
Unfortunately, there are many other diseases and conditions that "charity" from the private sector ignores. My wife is a Type I diabetic, we cannot get ANY kind of "insurance" at ANY price, and the out-of-pocket costs for her insulin keep going up and up.
BardCoennius 2 years ago
Now, if you have any information about where we can get her diabetic supplies for low or no cost, PLUS regular medical exams and monitoring to keep her healthy without having to bankrupt ourseives, I'll be happy to hear about it. I certainly haven't been able to find anything, but I know that just across the border in Canada, her insulin costs about half what it does here - but the good corporate Republicans have made it illegal for us to get it from a Canadian pharamcy
BardCoennius 2 years ago 2
Interesting how the "CON"servatives are fine with getting government out of CORPORATIONS lives but are more than happy to insert themselves in our PERSONAL PRIVATE lives.
BardCoennius 2 years ago 2
wait...is that a comment for me? I'm sorry to hear about your wife. But the truth is that you can be proactive in receiving help even without having insurance. On the most simple of levels, you can ask your doctor if she/he has samples on the insulin, they almost always do. Second, you can write to the makers of that insulin and ask for financial assistance. you can't blame the reps for blocking you getting your meds in canada, it's EVERYONE in washington.
calebreasons 2 years ago

Greengate777 2 years ago 3

BardCoennius 2 years ago

Think about THAT.

I love the fact that Christian conservatives hate Michael Moore when he's what Christianity is all about. If Jesus came down, he'd take Moore with him and throw all the Right wing Christians down to hell, those pigs managed to make greed and dis-care for your neighbor a virtue. Right wing politics are fascinating, poor people are poor because they're to lazy to work, they're against gays but loved getting fucked in the ass on weekends, they're all hypocrites.
coffee396 2 years ago 4

American voters should wake up and start noticing the trubbling socio-economic realities their facing, because you're going the wrong way.
blackacadian 2 years ago
As somebody who watches what happens in the US from a distance, I cant help by being amazed by what is happening there. We lived trough the difficult Bush years with the hope that the Americans will finally wake up and people who can fix things in charge. Instead, we got a washed out insipid Democratic administration that refuses to rock the boat and to the right thing.
Greengate777 2 years ago
The president who was supposed to usher in a new era proved to be timid like a day old puppy. Im sorry to say, but all that yes we can chanting proved itself to be nothing but a hollow campaign slogan. Meanwhile, on Wallstreet theres business as usual and it seams that the US wont get what the rest of us have when it comes to healthcare.
Greengate777 2 years ago
What the heck is the matter with that country? It seems to me that they are still fighting last centurys battles, while the rest of the world has moved on. It is as if the whole US is in self destruct mode.

I miss the DEMs from my childhood like Kennedy, do not ask what your country can do for you but want you can do for you country
MissingGWdotcom 2 years ago
@MissingGWdotcom I really find that phrase insulting. If your country (as in the elected goverment that manages the country) does not do anything then what need is there for one? The goverment is elected to do a job. If the goverment throws its responsibilities back to the people than it is a bad goverment. If you hire a builder to make you a house and he told you do not ask what I can build for you but what you can build for yourself and you listened to him, you are clinicaly insane.
BassAoi 2 years ago
Oh we need the government in a support role, doing things private industry does not want to do or cannot do, we need a government to support laws between neighbors, we need the gov to give temporary help as most need it some time.
But let us make choices while keeping Government to 19% of GNP, if not the jockey is too fat for the hoarse and this means not taking over every aspect of our lives.
MissingGWdotcom 2 years ago
I already have less choices with my food and children, now the far left wants my car, healthcare, investments, etc. I say no thank you
MissingGWdotcom 2 years ago
Hay you see the progressive socialist dems want to take over your 401k? That is right because the world market is slowing down on buying USA bonds to cover the debt so the progressives want to take over your 401k forcing you to buy a percentage of USA bonds because no one else will buy them? good idea?
If anything the trend should be the other way, we should always be looking at getting gov out of it not taking it over.
MissingGWdotcom 2 years ago
That is funny if you listen to the East European leaders that grew up under socialism they will tell you the Russia always insisted it was not their system but the lazy East Europeans, it was always their fault not wanting to give the fruits of their labor to their neighbors.
The good news is moderate DEMS and Americans are saying no, no and hell no to Obama far left crash into the concrete wall.
MissingGWdotcom 2 years ago
Hay I understand America does not travel in a straight line, it zig and zags to the right, then left then back.
America got fooled into thinking the Obama was a centerist and would do all the amazing and transparent crap he said he would do, now they know it was a lie as the polls show.
Look the fact is like Carter, Obama is a GOP gift from God as not even the mainstream press can protect him.
It is ok, the house will be fine as soon as we get the bad workers on their way.
MissingGWdotcom 2 years ago
Oh the good old days when 111 DEMs voted for the Iraq war but today Obama has to bribe his own party with backroom deals, jobs, threats, campaign money etc. to pass healthcare a majority of Americans do not want but Obama claims he just knows better so they rewrite the rules to pass it anyways. Did I wake up in the USSR?
MissingGWdotcom 2 years ago
@MissingGWdotcom No unfortunately you did not wake up in the USSR. If you had you would have free healthcare, free schools, free universities, a house and a job that lasted only for 8 hours. Too bad the capitalist countries like USA funded Talibans (your old friends now your enemies) and others to sabotage from the inside the USSR.
BassAoi 2 years ago
Free healthcare also means someone is paying your share and their share for it.
Personaly I do not want you paying or me paying for your healthcare, schools, a house, and I want to work as hard as I want and usualy do 60 hours a week or so but that is me.
Not sure what you are talking about but did the USA support the resistance (pre taliban) in afghan against the USSR, yes, of course, did Bush and Clinton try the carrot with the Taliban, yes of course.
MissingGWdotcom 2 years ago
Actually your taxes already pay for schools.
TrapsByJC 2 years ago
I kinda know that but let the trend go the other way towards less government and more choices in schools not the other way.
Did you see this news a couple of days ago as Obama changes the school system?
"[I]t appears that despite some promising rhetoric, this blueprint places 100 percent of the responsibility on teachers and gives them zero percent authority," AFT President Randi Weingarten

Swell today USA education is last in education per dollar spent.
Liberals think today the only way we keep up in the world is by just blasting money at the problem, and pushing this system it is true.

Pass the bill and then start the fight for free clinics and small business jobs in health care against the corporations.
watch?v=iyVrfD8egrE
MrFreedomdemocracy 2 years ago 2
And when people figure out that the dems did not give us real health care reform, they will probably stay home disillusioned.
Which means the Republicans will get back in power and do everythign they can to undo the little good that was done.
And conservadems who watered this bill down to nothing will blame their base for wanting too much.
And so the cycle continues.

jasonnissan1 2 years ago 13
@jasonnissan1 This isn't about government. The corruption in this comes from the profit motive of the health insurance companies, who hold sway over our government. It doesn't have to be this way. In Canada, France, and many other countries, their governments provide them with free healthcare. If more Americans knew that, they might not think "government" is the problem.
colibri1 2 years ago 9
thats right, obama is an insurance rep.i forgot.get out of here......you know they are all tied together, and there is no denying that.enough said dont bother me no more......save it dude.
jasonnissan1 2 years ago
Thats wrong. We don't have a free healthcare system in Germany. It's extremely expensive and i have to move to social welfare twice because i couldn't pay the additional 350 Euro for my insurrance.
The difference is that we have a time unlimited welfare program to cover the cost when you make not enough money or don't have a job
So it's the whole social security net that is missing in the USA and this was not killed by Ronald Reagan - it was Bill Clinton. You should never forget and forgive
