  • she is just the best

  • it brings tears of joy to see this still up and remembering all those who paved the way for gospel music . this is a lovely tribute to all those who have moved to their heavenly home, including 2 of the most recent members of the heavenly choir Lady Albertina walker and Bishop Walter Hawkins

  • thanx soso much for posting this great gospel singer.! i have cancer and some other serious health problems and just listening to her helps me sososo much! thanx again for posting!!!

  • There are mornings when you wake up and know that not only has a battle been waged, but you are now a battle-ready soldier.

  • During the civil rights movement they would sing we are soilders in God's Army!!! very powerful stuff my friends

  • @minjimmierodgers... looked like Albertina was say "Get up from there" lol... If u gone sing a song, u gotta bring it lol... too funny!! I am really liking these posts of the legends!! I listen to each of them EVERYDAY!! Thanks for blessing us with this blessing!!

  • This really takes you back to the old choir days. Our Choir St. John would march in on this song. Thanks for posting this old time Religion. Some times our denomination changes, but the Songs in Our Heart shouldn't. These are the songs that brought our fore-father through

  • 1.49 hands up anybody whose mamma or auntie, or grandma aint had them SAME glasses!!!!

My lawd!!!! Does me good. x

  • @MegaGum1 I believe that's COGIC's own songbird Rose Marie when she was younger. I also saw the other lady from Detroit, her name slips me at the moment but she has blonde hair and is the original lead for Climbing Up the Mountain

  • I LOVE INEZ. I LOVE MY OLD TIME GOSPEL, IT IS THE BEST.

  • Could you please post the lyrics to the verse...I always loved to hear this song growing up watching the choir march and and the old saints would be so sincere, but i had no clue there was a verse to it, too bad my generation dont know to much about the gospel of old but i will never let it die.

  • O YEAH! We got to hold it up! Inez knows how to put it together!

  • The gospel plow....whew sing

  • This song is awesome she is singing it just a bit conservative. Our youth choir used to rock this song it was a very progressive song back in the day,but its timeless and still a spirit stirring song even by today's standards. When sung deep from the soul these old hymms sound good and every youth not turning their nose up at them. I was raised in a church that had better singers than most recorded people but their mother wanted them to sing for the LORD not for profit. moms know best.

  • My Great Grand Ma & Grand Ma use to sing this...

  • AWSOME AWSOME AWSOME!!!!

She's great and a icon much love and bless her.

Wish i had the longer version of this song I love it to much!!!

  • I love this song! We are soldiers in the Army of the Lord!

  • oh this was absolutely incredible and phenomenal i was really blessed !! hold it up bretherens!! bless u

  • God bless whenever Ms. Andrews is in the building you know the Holy Spirit is here too. Awesome rendtition!

  • My mom loves this song and I do too. We be singing it when we go to church. Let me send it to her Youtube inbox.

  • Inez started out with the Gospel Harmonettes in Birmingham and auditioned for the Caravans after they left Robert Anderson and moved to Chicago.

  • We sang this every Sunday night in BTU, BYPU, and summer VBS. Thank God for the songs and lessons learned back then.

  • Too bad everybody in the video has on 80s clothes or I would try to find this church group. I dont even go to church but I would go hang out with these folks anytime just for the love in the room and the good old music I haven't heard since crazy Kirk Franklin started hip-hopping and r n bing up the church songs. I like hip-hop but not in my gospel songs, sorry.

  • So because they have 80s clothes on is the reason you would not want Lift Jesus up with a song. That's so materialistic.

  • I just can't believe she could still sing like that. Bless the inimitable Sister Inez.

  • tHANK YOU SO MUCH MINJIMMIERODGERS FOR POSTING THESE WONDERFUL VIDEOS! WE CANNOT LET THIS MUSIC DIE! GOOD OLD GOSPEL MUSIC MAKES YOUR SOUL HAPPY AND GLAD LOVE IT!!!!!! THANK YOU

  • Wow! Brings back memories....

  • This brings me back to my childhood.......we used to sing this tune in vaction Bible school!!!!!!!!

  • Lol. We did too. Our instructor used to make all the kids march around the church...

  • when the legacy of this music dies civilization will no longer be possible. no joke.

  • Who could not love the remarkable INEZ ANDREWS! Always awesome.

  • who is the person at 2:40

  • Correction: Is that Billy Preston on the Hammond Organ?

  • yes it is

  • She is actually a Contralto and able to sing all parts. However, she is known for being able to "squal" as she does on "Mary, Don't You Weep."

  • I love this song!!

I've been holding that blood stained banner for 70yrs..

    Thanks for posting

  • This is a true song alot of our grandparents are soldiers in the army and still fighting and runing for jesus thank God for you all. continue to hold up that blood stain banner until you die. bless you,

  • Chorus We are soldiers in the army We got to fight, although we have to cry We got to hold up the blood stain banner We got to hold it up until we die Repeat Verse My mother was a soldier She had her hand on the gospel plow, But one day she got old She couldn't fight anymore She said 'I've got to stand here and fight anyhow!' Chorus
  • We used to sing this song all the time.

  • SING IT!

  • OMG!!!! This was such a blessing! We don't have church like this anymore. Sing Inez!!!!!!! The best one of the Caravans IMO...

  • Thats true leadership!

  • is inez a soprano?

  • yes but she's a second sop probably a mezzo BUT SHE WILL SCREAM A 1st Sop any day

  • now even though i am only 19 i know some of those people so what i want to know what year was this because we need to go back .and can someone send me the words for this song?

  • Really Do you know my grandmother? she is Inez Andrews

  • yes I do. That is my aunt. My father Paul's sister. Hi cousin

  • Please, do tell.

  • Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

  • OMG!!! dey keep it up..i won't have 2 go 2 church tomorrow...lol!!! luv this!!

  • I love the Caravans they are my Girls. They are idols.

  • Was Albertina mad at 2:43?

  • You know what... lol! nawl she wasn't mad! She was like "Come on girl and sing that song!!! Too Funny... I had to look at it... I laughed until I got tired! Thanks I needed that! Be Blessed! Elder Rodgers

  • to me it looks like she told her to get up. either way it's funny.

  • It was kind of funny, but from everything I've seen and read on Inez, she's no-nonsense so I doubt that she is one to be told to "get up". LOL. This is really a beautiful song and well performed with great back up.

  • @rollsroycecooley1 It was more like a get up from there and you better sing!

  • @rollsroycecooley1 when i looked at it, i got immediately tickled. That look is when you know you getting into a song, lol!!!

  • Rose Marie Rimsome Brown, Abertina, Mr. CLean,Joe Lagone, Dorothy Norwood,Jessie Dixson, The Craig Brothers,Delores Barrett Cambell and sisters,Richard Smallwood, Walter Hawkins, the O'Neal Twins, Ora Watkins-jones.

  • I think Inez Andrews is a very beautiful and statley looking woman and she looks like she don't take "NO MESS". LOL

  • LOL, I don't think Inez takes mess. She said in an interview that she let Sallie Martin know that she knew she stole "No Tears in Heaven" from her. Inez wrote it and performed it, and the next time she heard it, Sallie Martin recorded it and claimed it as her own.

  • I heard she lost a lot of songs. Too bad they didnt know laws back then.

  • There's my hometown boy on piano, Jeffery LaValley.

    we're from the same state.

we use to walk each other to school.

  • Mimjimmierodgers, is this entire video available to be purchased? I didn't know this one existed. I have the CD/DVD set of the same artists that Malaco put out last year or the year before. It is a collection of great performances by the best of the best of Quartet Gospel Music. But I sure would like to have a copy of these Great Gospel Legends in my Library too. Please let me know where I can get a copy. Please and thank you. Great memories!!!

  • This dvd is not available it has not been released... This treasure was given to me by an original caravan member who asked that I only post not sell... this is why it is not for sale... I hope you enjoy the clips... Be Blessed! Elder Rodgers

  • Thanks you Elder Rodgers for the info regarding my request. Indeed, I am really enjoying the video clips. Incredible Memories, and I know I've got to pray that God will give me the hookup to the "Caravan Connection". (LOL) Somebody, Somewhere told me that "PRAYER CHANGES THINGS" and I believe it! BE BLESSED!!!

  • why was it never released?

  • It`s such a shame that so much of our good gospel music such as this is not even available on dvd. The videos of the Caravans, Davis Sisters, Dorothy Love, The Mighty Clouds and so many more legendary gospel groups from the 50`s 60`s and 70`s should make it to dvd some kind of way. What about all those famous gospel groups that performed on the televised "Jubilee Showcase" back in the day. I was told all those taped shows can be seen somewhere in Chicago only. What a shame !

  • Sing Inez!!!!!! True Gospel Legend

  • Truly, we got to hold it up until we die. Sang for Jesus Ms. Inez, you know you are working that ending girl. Praise Jesus!!!

  • Sang Inez!!!!!!!!!

  • Well Jesus is the REASON for the Season?

  • I love that woman. Thanks Inez for staying true to the gospel !

  • This is a classic to me all the way back to the older saints I used to hear. Please keep this song Posted. I wish I could purchase the whole Video and add it to my collection.

  • i wonder if in 30-40 years from now will today's gospel artist sit around and sing Stomp. lol...be funny to see KF at 70 jumping up and down, bouncing off the walls.

  • i hope not...who wants to hear that

  • I totally agree loaactnow; can't see it! We NEED to bring GOSPEL music Back!! Praise God!

  • is that Evangelist Rose Marie Rimso-Brown at 1:49?

  • Yes it is.

  • that was Rose Marie Rismon-Brown

  • Yes it is.Rose Marie is one of my favorites. She is on Bishop G.E. Patterson's dvd, Singing The Old Time Way, volume 2, and she steals the show.

  • I love IT!!! It takes me back to when we had a gospel chorus
