Okay, quick question to all you traditionalists out there; what if there i sn't a latin mass near you? And what IF the local parish's celebration of the Mass of Paul VI was reverent, had a devoted, humble priest, and had no rock music, clown masses, or anything else associated with popular culture or sacrilege. Would you attend that Mass, or move to find a latin mass?
@brndurham That's easy. Of course I'd attend a reverent Novus Ordo mass if that's all that was easily accessible, we do afterall, have to fulfill our obligation to attend mass and the conditions you described are perfectly acceptable. If there was a Latin Mass celebrated within reasonable reach I'd attend that in preference though. Those who prefer the Tridentine Rite are not necessarily "fanatics" rather, they seek the pure or unadulterated form of worship that, sadly, has been abused and lost.
I was a pre-teen when the Novus Ordo got foisted on the Catholic Faithful. What followed was YEARS of hard confusion and an identity crisis among Catholics. In 1982 I was in Greece while I was in the US Air Force and I went to my first Divine Liturgy. Since then I've been attending a very conservative Melkite Greek-Catholic Church. I'm happy Pope Benedict issued the motu propriu for the Latin Rite. It's going to take GENERATIONS to un-do the damage the horrid Novus Ordo did.
There is still much work that needs to be done. The first Catholic Mass I ever ssawwas a Tridentine Mass and it is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I was leaving protestantism. Then, I saw a modern Mass and while it wasn't quite as bad as the videos of clown Masses, it was pretty sad. It was confusing and I didn't know what was happening. I walked out. Soon, there needs to be a suppression of the modern Mass and things like Versus Populum and Altar Girls.
Observation......interesting choice of music to celebrate the return of the Tridentine Mass !! you may call the music ' Hip and Trendy" !! Question.......when will the Roman churches social teaching reflect 'Hip and Trendy'?
If the modus operandi of the church were the Latin Mass and the Teachings of Jesus - this would be a big step in the right direction. But the laity must understand the full story of the struggle between good and evil in the church, the world, and the solar system - going back thousands of years - into ancient Israel, Rome, Greece, Egypt, Babylon, and Tibet - and possibly even into ancient Sirius and Aldebaran.
Now if we could just completely do away with the decisions made at the Vatican II, and we'd be back on the right track real fast! Down with liberalization, up with tradition!
La Iglesia poco a poco renace con la fuerza del Cordero de Dios, con la maternal protección de la Santísima Virgen, recuperando su Tradición, y su inmutable liturgia, recuperando la Misa Tridentina.
In both the Novus Ordo and the Tridentine the Priest is the main person offering up to God a renewed sacrafice (the exact same one that Christ made on the Cross). In both Masses, we are offering it up with the Priest to God, but just in different ways. In the Tridentine Mass we offer the Mass with the Priest by "praying the mass" with the Priest. In the Novus Ordo we offer the sacrafice with the Priest by open with limited participation.

The Catholic Position that somehow the Mass is an eternal sacrifice is complete nonsense. Yes I have read the theology and it is contrary to scripture. Suggest you try reading The Didache and see what early Christians really believed. The problem with the Vatican is that it uses the Tridentine Mass to manufacture a vision of church history that's contrary to fact. Popes spent centuries spinning truth to gain political power & money. Let's get back to reality. Away with superstition and magic.
Ireland's Catholics finally informed of extent of sexual abuse of their children by the representatives of the "One True Church."
"Bishop Pat Buckley said an extremely conservative estimate was that one in 10 of the 5,000 Catholic priests in Ireland enjoyed regular sex with women and some even referred to their clerical collar as the "bird catcher" ...40 per cent of the Catholic clergy in Ireland were sexually active."

Yuck! I can't imagine anyone seriously thinking the Latin Mass will survive in the 21st century. What is needed is a form of worship that will embrace computer graphics, video, internet ministry, and modern music. Liturgy translated means "Work of the People". This is exactly what is wrong with the Tridentine Mass. The priest is the central character. It ain't 'bout clergy! Its' bout relatin to God! We need to embrace democracy in the church and toss out centuries of monarchy and corruption.
Well keeping in mind the fact that the majority the People that go to the Latin Mass are young adults, and teenagers (and young familes) I would say the Tridentine would last until the end of time.
The Tridentine Mass is not about the Priest, its totally about God , and less prominitly his Blessed Mother and the Angles and Saints.
That is a false statement. At Ave Maria University the faculty has spent months trying to cram the Tridentine Mass down the throats of your young adults and the Hip Hop Generation wants nothing to do with it. They want Life Teen Liturgies. The Tridentine Mass is at odds with the very person and character of God as revealed in nature. The God of the Lain Mass is a dusty dead tyrant. The God of the Universe is young, creative, freeing and ever changing. Read the book called THE SHACK.. Its great!
The Tridentine Mass is the best way to worship God. These New Rite Masses...you cant tell if they are valid or not, and anyway, the New Mass is SO!!! boring!

The Tridentine Mass is an antique, a curiosity for the whatnut cabinet that does little but gather dust. The latin mass is a passing fad among college students and mere entertainment. People are turned off by rigid dogma, censorship and dictatorial leadership.
The young are looking for a more personal encounter with God and one which is credible in an age of science, one which brings meaning to lives , and one which can solve conflicts threatening their future..
Not at all my friend! The Tridentine Mass can never get old; she is like a beautiful young women, who with the passage of time, only gets more young and beautiful.
If you're looking for a personal encounter with God, look no further than St. Catherine of Siena, or other holy men and women who loved this mass! You can't more personal than that!
Ur nuts! The Latin MaSS is the most sacred ceremony in the whole world! They tried to suppress it, but they failed! The one that is going to disappear is the hybrid-ecologically-friendly new mass!! It is recyclable, and is going into disuse, because it has several poisonous elements to it, namely Anglican y Lutheran toxics. My LAtin Mass is FULL of young people!! So you lose, sucker!
Let us not forget that more young Priests are going into semaniary where they offer the Tridentine Mass (in communion with Rome mind you) then they already are in semaniarys that only offer the Novus Ordo.
In the early church, the presiders were elected by the laity, along with bishops. There was no formula for prayer. No funny vestments. No organ music. No seminaries. No boring theology. Christians prayed in a home not a church, in their own language around a table Songs, sting & flute were a way to memorize lessons. There was no tabernacle. No statues or crosses. We need to get back to real Catholicism. Restore creativity, freedom, discussion and sincerity in worship. Abolish the Latin Mass
That early liturgy you describe was part of the natural deveopment of the liturgy, as was the Tridentine. In the Tridentine their are small movements and actions that have been kept from the earlier liturgys including the one you described.
Kum by Yah, my Lord. Kum by Yah. Kum by Yah, my Lord. Kum by Yah. Kum by Yah, my Lord. Kum by Yah. O Lord, Kum by Yah.
And now for our next number. Come on people now. Smile on your brother. Everybody get together. Try to love one another right now. After all: We don't need no education. We don't need no thought control.

IN the early church they did go to worship together in a church building. They sung like christians of eurpoean tradition(Roman catholic or Orthodox or Anglican) do today but with out the organ it was chanting. The tabernacle was there. They had crosses to remind them of G-D but also kept jewish tradition. They do discuss today and have creativity but you cant go dancing about a churvch or think that christianity is a hour or so on a sunday and then pick and choose what you belive the rest week.
These have to be Moto Mass pics. Gunlover94 is right, this song is wrong. But really, if you are attending the Moto Mass or even the SSPX Mass, you are still in full communion with the heretics and apostates that you show at the beginning of the video.
Yup... Odd choice of music for the video, but it was still awesome! I went to my first Tridentine Mass this past Sunday since I was a small child back in the mid 1960s and I can't wait until next week. There was a lot of young people there along with the older folks..... It was such a beautiful Mass... and NOT ONE PAIR OR FLIP FLOPS OR SHORTS IN THE ENTIRE PLACE!
I know the choice is odd but traditional catholicism and rock music do have similarities. a typical rockband consist of vocals+lead guitar(priest), rhythm guitar(deacon), bass(subdeacon) and drums (master of cermony)...and as soon as women enter the picture(yoko) it all goes to hell...
please do never relate The Holy Mass to suchblashphemy and sacrelidge as rock again. i mean this in no ill-spirited way to you, but i would defend the Church against anyone who tried to relate rock to it. She the Church is too Holy to be defiled by even the comparison of that anti-sacred junk they call rock.
thank God for this return!
