california roads are inadequate when it come to putting up signs. today there was a headon collision in south la because someone drove in the wrong direction in a one way street ! he made a turn in a street that was one way because there wasnt a sign. whats up w/ these bonehead caltrans people ????????
@PLISKEN12 ........this happens everywhere,do you know the whole story? was he driver drunk? was he non-english reading? did they understand pictures? even when they are or are not drunk, at night people make mistakes where I live there was a 20yr old drunk, coming from a college party turned onto a southbound off-ramp going north and killed a family, while he lived!! a verizon guy who didnt take his medication was going south in the north bound lane took out a few cars!
@PLISKEN12 .....cont.).......its like the old saying " guns dont kill people, people kill people" and to get back to "there was no sign on the street where the guy went down" caltrans doesnt work on city streets, caltrans works on highways.....I would say go to your city and complain!!
I wouldn't exactly describe this test as a success. I thought the barriers were supposed to deflect the vehicle away from it; not allow it to flip over the top. We have something like this permanently fixed on the M25. They scare me as they have a chamfered edge at the base which would draw the vehicle into it if you touched it, and start a rollover all too easily. (Glurbpot =Tanker driver) The tank lids on our tankers are designed differently to those on this tanker.
Yes, Mike is driving that rig. He said he thought the ties holding the sections together would snap. If you look real close and stop the video you can see his helmet. After this test. Mike stated he learned a lot and does accident reenactments different now.
I asked him that question about the "A" pillar on the drivers side how the concrete wall slices through the cab.. He said he had paddind and head restraints protecting his body. That test occurred at 55 mph. He is one amazing dude with balls to crash trucks.. Check out his other videos.

The driver certainly has balls but the guys filming that you can see at 2.22 look pretty close to the action too.
Presumably there's some form of hatch locking system fitted on tankers that prevents the load being spilled out as soon as the truck rolls?
