  • Would it be wise to take a cover with you whenever you travel?

  • @ProtectABedTV not it would not be wise to travel with a cover. It would be sensible to check when you travel. Ecasements don't prevent bedbugs only education and people can do that. There is no added benefit to a bedbug encasement than a more cost effective dust mite on in bedbug prevention and early detection. See BedBugBeware,dot.com for the long hand logic.

  • i freaking hate my life right now. a new set of bites everyday and the stupid landlord won't do anyhting cuz he claims he cant find any signs of them. i never noticed how amazing my life was before this curse was put upon me.

  • @BlueSidePark hi, sorry for the slow reply but without confirming signs its hard to know what and where to treat. Have you looked at monitors as a way of confirming. I invented the passive bedbug monitor a few years ago which can help in treatment in some cases, see the advanced educational section of our website for details.

  • Stop talking and ACT !!!!, bed bugs are huge problem!, And it is not making small meeting that will change anything, we must act quickly, already we have lost control, now more than we must remove once and for all the bed bug.

  • @pinonoir302 I could not agree more, I have been calling for public education about bedbugs since 2003 and initially started my website as a public information site which grew into an extermination business. Sadly the message of proactive monitoring is lost on most people as they still don't see that it could happen to them.

  • It really friggin ANNOYS me as to how light they seem to make this sound and even a little joke in every news show. Well when one of them get the things, I'd love to see how they joke b/c it's traumatizing and takes a horrible psychological effect let alone not sleeping for 3months. it's a nightmare and a job and a half just preppeing for the job. Put the old chemical once used when a 1 time treatment did it for bed bugs and fleas. We have to erradicste them again!

  • @kellinonu I sadly bedbugs have grown acclimatised and tolerant to many of the older chemicals in the same way antibiotics now fail. This is why early detection is so important when you don't have to reply upon chemicals of any type.

Education and avoidance as well as early detection are the sharpest tools int he war on bedbugs.

  • i dont think millions of pounds is a fair amount for 1 nights sleep

  • Sorry but we don't have bed bugs in eastern Europe, I've never heard of this before, except from the westerners...here there are none, so it's not all over the world.

  • @bluecontrast Sorry but we know they are occurring all over the world which does include Eastern Europe, it also includes Russia. In most countries people do not discuss the issue on the basis that they falsely feel it has something to do with dirt which they don't.

If you are aware of the problem and take steps to avoid contact you can avoid needing treatment. It is therefore better to raise awareness than to simply say it does not affect us because it can affect everyone.

    David

  • @bluecontrast yes it is, you are extremely ignorant

  • @bluecontrast it's ok i'll bring some over for u, my house if full of them

  • @bluecontrast oh you have them just not in your house....there not hugely commen in the uk just in some citys and some places like tower blocks and stuff...dont think becuase there not in your house there not in your part of

    europe

  • @bluecontrast sorry to tell you this but they are everywhere now. International travel is all it took and unless NOBODY travels to eastern Europe, you too can bet that they are there. Just don't remain in state of denial so you aren't caught off guard. i dn't go to movie theatres, or even e.rooms unless dire emergency. they are in hospitals, dr.waiting rooms. even dept stores-EVERYWHERE. Good luckl

  • so common pesticides don't work. What about a blast of UVC light?

  • Hi,

Many common pesticides do not work but that is more because of the way that they are applied, gases and smokes do more dam,age than good.

UVC light is effective on dust mites but not bed bugs, I suspect we will see more dust mite products such as the mattress encasement's applied to bed bugs in the coming months.

Save your money they will not work.

  • kill the damn bed bugs.

  • bring back DDT.

  • Why? They are resistant to it, you may as well spray water.

DDT is not the answer to bed bugs, it is also illegal to use.

    David Cain

    Bed Bugs Limited

  • It was made Illegal to use back in 84.

bedbugscouk not to sound rude. Show your proof that doesn't work anymore. A link to the Research paper showing it.

According to my personal tests it still works. But since I didn't record it I'm afraid you can't accept my answer as much as I can accept yours.

The increase in both America and UK both oddly corilate with their bans on DDT however. Strange.

I had the bugs too. Good luck getting rid of them The little blighters.

  • What research have you read/heard of to come to this conclusion David.

I am curious. Mainly because since the ban of DDT un the uk in 84. They been on the rise. Pretty much the same in america... Mmmmmm... They decided to become resistant at different times? No sorry doesn't work like that.

    Please show sources.

  • You Tube will not allow me to post the links so I will post the info you need to google to find them:

1: An interview with bed bug researcher Alvaro Romero posted on NYvsBedBugs Feb 2009

2: An article in Pest Control Technology called Insecticide-Resistant Bed Bugs: Implications for the Industry 7/26/2007

3: Google this phrase "People who are stuck with pesticide resistant bedbugs they cannot get rid of are pinning their hopes on DDT"

I would have posted links but it does not allow me to.

  • I appreciate that this may appear to be the link but having conducted the worlds only multi year geographic analysis of bed bug infestations in a city I can assure you that this problem is not just due to things developing since 84.

I would be very careful in admitting your test results because using DDT is illegal and has been since 1972.

I hope the links are useful.

    Regards,

  • omg the itch is terrible and it last forever!!

  • I hate those stupid bugs...

  • Haha "literally freeze your entire house". My mom put her mattresses outside... and then it still had bed bugs. Also, the bed bug guy convinced us to throw a couch away because he thought it was the start of the problem.

  • Fucking American's i mean Jesus, you're answer to everything, fucking SUE SUE SUE.

I mean for fuck sake's no wonder people hate you guy's

  • My bed was infested at a Vegas hotel but it was in 2005 so I won't mention the name. I did check the net and there were quite a few customer complaints. Management seems to deny the problem. ick.

  • and why don't you mention the name of the hotel?? cause it's BS?

  • Hi,

I did not mention the name of the London hotel because that was news at the time. The message of bed bugs is more important than a historic name and shame game. The fact is that the hotel in question was cleared in 2007, the harsh reality for hotels is however the fact that bed bugs can arrive with any guests so keeping on top of the problem is a difficult task.

  • why is it a bad idea to use a fogger? Please help!!! I sooo scared of going to bed or turning off my lights!!! please!!! my sister and I are taking turns sleeping at night (so this is really bad)!!!HELP!!!

  • Hi,

There is a link to the original research paper in the Bed Bug myths section of my website, point 11 on the list.

Since I cant post a link here its hard to give you an easy link but its well worth a read.

  • I think I may have a problem with bed bugs. I haven't seen one yet, but I have been bitten by something at night. I don't wanna go to bed now...it's itching all over my body! Yuck!

  • pest control is very expensive whats going to happen with people with low income who cant afford an extermination for bed bugs is the government helping on this matter?I heard bed bug extermination is very expensive and this problem is growing each day all over the u.s.

  • thanks a lot for this, i live in west london, just discovered today i have this problem (didnt even know they existed before) so can i find bedbug control in yellow pages then??

  • Hi,

Bed Bug control is very much a specialists skill if you want rapid removal and lets face it there are not many willing to live with them then look for a specialists with an established track record and someone who clearly knows what they are talking about.

Do your research on the companies and the methods so that you understand what they want to do and will ask you to do.

Good luck and give us a call in the office if you need to have a chat.

  • Guess what ... Nothing works ... spraying, freezing, heat treaatment powders etc etc do NOT work - I know of people who have had weeks and weeks of treatment, and all the above methods of treatment and thought they had been totally eradicated only to find they have reappeared weeks later. You only need one bedbug to survive and lay more eggs and the whole cycle starts again !!! Jus pray you never get them in the first place !!!!

  • Hi,

I beg to differ, there are things that work but it is a lot more complex than people initially give it credit for.

We have developed a UK method with a 60% complex eradication record in a single treatment and 98% on a course of two. The problem is that the products we use are only available to professionals in the UK.

In other parts of the world it can take 6 - 9 months to eradicate them from a property.

    David

  • Hi,

Bed Bugs are a pest of exposure, you can only prevent them by checking where you stay to make sure you dont come into contact with them.

If you already have them dont use aerosol or fogger products and contact a reputable pest controller for assistance in getting rid of them. You need to select someone with experience of the problem as it can be complex.

    David

  • how cant u prevent bed bugs without pest control because i have 27 bites on my body and im kinda freaked out!plz tell me as soon as u can.

  • I totally need help. I bought beds out of my local newspaper and didn't realize until 4 months later they had bed bugs. My granddaughter and me have bites everywhere. We have swollen bites all over us. We both had to go to the docs. I had a exterminator here and bought sum spray myself but we are still getting bit. I think im about to loose my mind. • Hi,

I can be contacted through the web site bed-bugs and the co uk as in my username. Or by google searching my name an bed bugs.

I always recommend that you seek the assistance of an experienced professional. Someone who deals with bed bug issues on a regular basis, ideally daily or weekly.

  • loe blow

  • ok tell me what chemicals to use...

  • the chemical I use is not licensed in the US and chemical control is only about 10% of what we do.

    David

  • i had to deal with 500+ bed bug bites within 3 months...

  • I had a brother who had the problem, he nearly flipped out when he realized his brand new bed frame was infested with them (frame was wooden) he somehow got rid of them after throwing everything out in the garbage, and constantly scouring everything down, he finally got rid of them this way, i guess he was lucky? oh i forgot, he kept all his clothes and linens in sealed plastic bags, i am itching as i type. He knows how he got them, he bought this new bed frame and the company had

  • Time permitting I will try and do a few video's illustrating how to spot the early signs of bed bugs and what to do to avoid getting an infestation in the first place.

  • OMFG. This is my worst nightmare. Thanks for posting.
