It's hilarious - these guys are heroes to the peppers. I laugh when I look at the crap RHCP fans write on the video for the original Higher Ground. The Peppers obviously have immense respect for the musicians who inspired them and formed a base for their style of funk-rock ------ so why don't many of their fans?
i would happily give my left testicle and take it as a bargain just to be able to play in the middle of these guys even if my instrument is just a tambourine.
I don't think so...most solos in this song are played by the meters' giutarist...by the way i think that it's hard to understand who is using all the space because i think that they have been able to create an all in one sound...i think you understand me....i'm italian ;-) !!!

I'm not too keen on the guitarist of The Meters in this particular performance. The sound is more reminiscent of Joe Satriani and all those other solo guitarists out there, which is not all too bad, but I feel that it takes away the funk from the performance with his constant shredding, which is rather antiquated in the funk genre. Nothing beats a sound which is both soulful and simply groovy.
you are right. he is playing a scale. and yes it is simple. but its what he does with it that makes it special and ill have you know the pepper's song Hollywood (Africa) is a cover of the meters song Africa. It was through the red hots that i found the meters but i like them both.
