Thanks for watching, xxxxgame! This is called "fingerstyle" or "thumb-picking"; there are tutorial DVDs (I learnt myself thanks to a Buster B. Jones DVD), or even tutorials on YouTube
@Tamborr ooh thnx so much u didnt make me wait forrr WEEKS to answer :D thats 2much 2 me :D thnx ALOT <3 ur so great btw :D pls post more songs in that style i like how u play it ! -- ur my idol !! dude!
.. is that the hardest thing someone can do on guitar? .. dam man ur so perfect .. i can't imagine me do ..half of that.. -- that..uh god .. man :D ur so talent
Thank you so much, Opkumara123! I've been playing in this style (thumb-picking) for more than three years; I used to play for many years before, in a more usual style.
(Autobiography sounds so self-important.)In fact, a basic arrangement(I mean very-basic, as my final versions are basic too) must take me 15 minutes multiplied by 5 or 7 days, i.e. a couple of hours but it has to be in separate bits throughout a week. However it happens that I only find the chords for the bridge one or two MONTHS afterwards. Then I have to do about 10 billion takes in front of my camera -a problem you don't seem to have, lucky you!
Please, do you mind me asking...? Your various versions on this one become better and better as they progess. Q: Is there a general amout of time it took you to flesh out a basic arrangement playing by ear? ...ten minutes or ten hours...? (It would take me ten years!)
Seeing as I'm not an expert with and on guitars, unlike some other scary people who have commented, I'll just say this made me smile. In a good way, of course =)
Just to add my perspective to what HB 1964 said. Observing fine players I have noted that most of the sound is in their hands, not the guitar. With that in mind, I love the way your melody notes ring out and sometimes have an expressive Djangoesque vibrato added, while the rhythm and bass notes are more muted and staccato, adding a wonderful driving percussive quality. It amazes me. You have created your own sound on that guitar and that sound is great, really splendid.
Thank you very much for this new perspective, Guitaress1! (I'm flattered to read dissenting opinions on the sound...). I'm amazed myself by your detailed description, and of course it makes me very glad and a little bashful (since I've listened to the crystal-clear, subtle yet unpretentious, sound you get out of your own vintage guitars)
Thank you for your attentive listening, 10aaa! I've just tried your idea, and it gives it a little flamenco sound (if I understand what modulating means), not unpleasant at all.
Once again I am in awe of your talent for this style of guitar playing. I enjoy how you take these tunes and make them all your own with such an easey command of your instrument!
Another fine job indeed.I have listend to this several times and will be back for more! I allways look foward to your next offering!
A very kind and encouraging comment: thanks again, Larry! All the more so as your way of playing is much more complex and dexterous (I should take as an example your way of ending your melodies - but I wouldn't be able to...)
I'm first with a comment this time. So here goes: I just wish you had a little better quality guitar. I think you do a great job with what you've got, but a better instrument would really add to your sound. No offense intended.
Thanks for the advice, HB1964! You're not the only one to have commented about this. I've grown used to this sound; it's also possible that my mediocre video equipment makes the problem even worse.
Sounds good to me.

Good job! Consider modulating up to F for the last chorus to add some drama...
10aaa 4 years ago
Thank you for your attentive listening, 10aaa! I've just tried your idea, and it gives it a little flamenco sound (if I understand what modulating means), not unpleasant at all.
Tamborr 4 years ago
I meant play the last chorus in the key of 'F'.
BTW, don't apologize to jazz guitarists. Most are flat pickers who can't play solo chord-melody.
10aaa 4 years ago
Oh, I see (I have no musical education). I understand however what you say about chord-melody: thanks!
