No, this piece is not an opera aria. I am an opera singer, voice teacher, and Music History professor so I know for a fact that this was a piece written for Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman. I've had students in my studio sing this piece, and lovely as it is I can confirm it is not from an opera. It seems as if Americans think anything not sung in English is opera; not always true!

Anyway, you might never have found it if I hadn't given it a rating. this video had been neglected for a year when I gave it 5 stars. I think the related videos favours higher rated videos, so you might never have seen it.
It's a pop piece; my wife is an opera singer and voice teacher and she confirmed it. We actually found it because we were looking for a friend's name. So, you may want to check your facts before you criticize!
strange seeing this on youtube.. feels like only a few years ago I saw it live! :| it was definitely better live, but pretty good here still :)
