ouldnt be drunk in late evening because then it could be difficult to go sleeping,simillar effect of cofee.Mate can be drunk alone, but its mainly to share with close friends and family,so, is a peace , courtesy and friendship sign, not only a drink.btw, that guy pretty good cebador for not being uruguayan!!

MATE is good for everybody...just ...dont burn the yerba!!!\
It is the helthiest alternative to coffee.
I recomend to try the Uruguayan style with Brazilian Yerba Mate CANARIAS
