I should have said this is the second earliest MET broadcast from which any recordings survive. Despite the fact that Kappel has been described as having a 'girlish' tone she seems quite at home and very effective in this music.

What an incredible clip from the MET's history. The earliest MET broadcast from which any recordings survive. Thankfully the recorder captured salient snippets of Kappel, Ljunberg and Branzell. And what superb conducting by Artur Bodanzky. Thanks so much for posting.
