    keep it up with tuts

    i wan`t to start learning some bboy:D

  • very helpful

  • Actually, thanks for this vid. I've been doing the running man (do they call it "candy walking" now? I've always heard it called "the march") for years and now I want to learn top rocking. I used to go to raves back in the day and a friend of mine used to combine crazy top rocking with candy walking. As such, no one held a candle to him on the dance floor because he'd come out with all this sick footwork.

  • THAT IS NOT A RUNNING MAN:))))))

    First the running man isn't a continuous slide...there r 2 slides:))

  • AT LAST! I found a decent tutorial for loads of footworks! I am a total beginner, and a girl. :\ So yeaa! Thanks muchos!

Sorry about my bad english. :D

  • your fucking awesome :') <3

  • Yo thanks for the help... many styles of top rock that I had not come across and some i overlooked.... keep up the good work... ONE LOVE

  • Where did u learn to dance like that cause where i live there is nobody who cares about bboying and one more.Whats the difference between bboying and hip-hop?Thnx for helpin me!!

  • @Sallon08 I just danced anyway, but b-boying is the style of dance that bests suits me, i learnt from being taught and watching videos, mostly self taught.

I've been to a few breakin workshops - B-boy Born, B-boy Y-not, B-boy Blanka roc and Poe One and I've picked up some stuff from them too (not in this vid though)

B-boying is the dance of Hip-Hop culture which has 4 elements - Graffiti, MCing, DJing, B-boying

  • @Flashlegz

Hey, bro. Kudos to anyone who takes the time to put up a tutorial for others to benefit from, f'sho. But I want to correct you on something. I don't agree with this so-called "four elements of hip-hop", but if I did, b-boying would NOT be one of them. Instead, it would be "breaking". What's the difference? By specifying it as "b-boying", you're excluding all the awesome bgirls out there, and there are some great ones for sure! Don't exclude them - call it "breaking" to include all!

  • @GangreneVagina Although B-boying does sound gender specific, it is the name of the dance form, most B-girls I know have no issue with it. The dance has always been about the style and skill, not race or gender.

Breaking does not carry the cultural weight of the dance for those that live that lifestyle. Personally i would not say that i am a b-boy, I really enjoy doing it but it's not like I practice everyday, I enjoy dancing when that beat hits me.

  • If you want to call it breaking to include women, I haven't been aware of them being excluded.

I have heard of b-girl only events, but not of B-boy only events, jams are for everyone, true hip hop does not exclude those that want to embrace it.

That's how I feel about it.

  • @Flashlegz

I hear ya. I guess it's terminology and now that you mention it, I guess you're right. I suppose I'm alone in my thinking. Word.

  • @GangreneVagina Just the way I look at it, Im open to suggestion

  • @Flashlegz AND BEATBOXING.

  • cool guide bro, thanks so much hey..

  • hey dats nyc brotha....

cud u jus upload sum more tutorials for footworks!!!

    appreciate it man!!!

  • BTW love the tut.

  • try breakin to eddie amador's house music :D

  • wow bro u kno all the top rocking songs that i have

  • nice video, but not being rude, your video editor might have something that takes out the sound of your feet shuffling on the ground, but otherwise, great video

  • its hard for me abit..cause iam a shuffler

    but i will keep practice

    thnks man !

  • I was having trouble getting the proper momentum and rhythm for my basic top rock. Many thanks man, now I don't look SO white. Cheers

  • Yours toprock guide is the greatest lesson of b- boying I've ever had. Thanks to you I can really improve my toprock and I can associate it with my footwork. What a shame that my instructor hasn't got such a power and passion like you. Do you have any advices how a backspin do? Best regards Monica

  • i did Rep a few Crews a long time ago, now i make B-Boy Music, for Battles and Events, i live in london, where do you live, not for no one to be interested, if you like to hear some of my Music, Email me csentinel@hotmail.co.uk or check out my new video on my home page spacepoze. its called UK B-Boy championship 2010.

  • @spacepoze Worcester bro, Im much more into the funk side of things, James Brown mostly

  • @spacepoze i wanna hear some of ur music

  • What crew are you in. Thats if you are in one, please let me know i got Tracks to suit you style would like to see you Break,

  • @spacepoze No crew, not enough people interested in breaking where I am, do you rep a crew?

  • you are fuggin fantastic!

  • I recently started practicing Toprock and Uprock, always had a feel for being on beat (I'm a drummer, so thats a plus I guess), but I never really got down to learning different steps, I've just been freestyling up until now. So I have to say thanks for putting these up, they're really helpful!

  • this sucks for me cause im transitioning from jerking to bboyin and the movement in the feet is the exact opposite from the jerkin movement

  • Thanks!! from Seville, Spain!!

  • omg best toprock tutorial ive ever seen

    thumbs up! :D

  • Should i learn 1 toprock at a time or mix it up and by the way im Arky

  • @Arkyization You should do whatever feels comfortable for you, when you can do it to a beat then try doing another to a beat mix them together and going in different directions.

Keep tempo with your upper body, that way you never lose the beat.

Most importantly just dance when you feel more natural in your moves and you don't have to go the same speed and hit every single beat, just play with it, take breathers/pauses.

    Peace and keep rockin

  • my body is abit hard fromdoing alot in the gym so what can i do to get it flexable or moving i mean

  • @Arkyization you should stretch a lot after doing your workout, I come from a martial arts background so the training from that directly helps my breakin.

I've gone to the gym and from my experience you should only go to the gym to lose weight or build muscle, however if you wanna be good at martial arts or breakin you should just do martial arts and breakin, it's body conditioning ie wrists getting stronger/used to breakin positions, co-ordination etc

  • nice, i needed help bad with those top rocks, Thanks

  • what shoes?

  • daaaamn man! Thats funky! thanks for the vid. respect

  • dude i really want to be a breakdancer and tried all kinds of videos but urs really helped me thx yo!

  • Great tutorial! Although while a lot of your other footwork is solid, your running man needs a bit of work. This is however, a year and half old so I'm sure by now that's irrelevant. :)

  • yo bro your step in 7:53 minutes I think its shuffle in C-walk.

  • looks more like the gansta walk

  • very good bro!!

  • thanks! this helped me hit the beats better!

  • nice top rock man ur good

  • PRO

  • 3:16 "just swing it" :D fits perfectly. good tutorial man you´re not a noob

  • Nice video. You seem really good with your feet. Or I just need more practice.

  • very nice...at first i thot you looked silly... but its really helpful... especially towards the end...

got me dancing in ma room at 3am...

  • @kchuk man its also 3 am when i found myself dancing,.. i saw this post after i have read the uploader comment and then i checked my clock

  • whats the song?

  • 1 is pete rock & cl smooth - the creator 2 chub rock - treat em right, last one is fu schnickens - whats up doc xD

  • nice one!

  • isn't running man the same as airwalk?

  • no airwalk is moonwalk without moving backwards and running man consists of several little hops. it´s all on youtube

  • Air walk is not a moonwalk without moving backwards... ure foot isnt even sliding along the floor when doing the air walk, they are completely different.

  • i am dancing melbourne shuffle for 2 y and i do rm better

  • Thanks for the excellent video tutorial.

  • lol is the first toprock really a toprock

    lol

  • this is the best tutorial!

    thanks man!

  • Thanks man you reallyyy helped mee! : ]

  • Im so thankful for the video. Thanks Flashlegz :D

  • by dint of this guide I make the first move real toprocks ;d

  • great. now show us all 25 toprock moves combined on the break

  • "also that you're the dopest mofo on the planet"

    lolololol xD

  • haha, I whent to my first club yesterday and realized I didn't know how to dance while all my pals could! I think this is gunnu help a bunch.

    thanks bro.

  • The music is what moves you, you'd be lucky to get breakbeats or funky music, most likely you'd be just doing grooves.

  • i like the toprock at 4:35 thx bro

  • is the running man really a top rock move?

  • No, it's similar to rock step, no reason you couldn't adapt it to toprock

  • respect.

  • on the second top rock you do i suggest that when you step out bend back and when you going in to the middle lean forward . so if your foots going to the right than lean back to the left

  • Good look on the tutorial.

  • This tutorial is sick, thanks man.

  • haha as soon as the beat started i was like, thats pete rock and cl smooth. this song is my jam

  • nice tips. I like it

  • i love ur tutorial..

  • definitely one of the better tut's i've seen! it shows basic moves and intermediate combinations of them! i like

  • i have so much trouble with kickouts,..its so friggen hard

  • can you make a tutorial for uprock?

  • Check V2 for a rough uprock tutorial, better to learn uprocking from rockers though, there are a few different styles/ways to do it, but I show the one i was taught originally.

  • awesome Tutorial! thanks :D

  • good guide, ty

  • This is sum pretty good shit right here.

Mind if you make a seperate tutorial for the move called "Pendulum Swing" ?

I found that move really slick and nice the way u did it, And you went a bit too fast.

    Respect.

  • Not too much to it, swing leg out and replace foot with other foot, I might do a tut but Id feel stupid doing it.

  • the musik aint my style but but its a great vid ;)

  • yes thanks man :D finally got my stance better

  • 2nd best tutorial next to bboy byu

  • what's the name of the song at 06:37 pleaaaasssseeee????

  • Read description

  • Yeah, dvd's give you like two toprock variations, Cuz Im still learning I think where Im at in this video is more like where any of us would be at, had we known some more variations.

Grooving is an important element to dance in general, keeping a tempo to the beat with your body in some way, I don't really explain it here, but you'll notice it when i cut loose.

  • Mann Great Video this really put my top rock in the right direction, i used to only do ground rock but this vid made me respect the top so much more. Thanks man!

  • this is a good viddeo, better than the other Asian-made ones

  • Rofl, Thats where your wrong >:)

  • this is a really good tutorial best by far on giving the basic examples of footwork I give this an A

  • If I practice this for a month would I be able to do this pretty well?

    I am a total noobie

  • At 9:05 It is called the "break down"?

    -Sai

  • No, don't know if there is a name, I meant as in the breakdown of how it's done

  • 4:03 is the "salsa step" :)

    Just helping out.

    -Sai

  • pete rock and c.l. smooth..... the creator..... i think

  • damn. hit every beat. hehe

  • hes doin the jerk lols

  • 只有不停的練~練~練~....其他都是廢話!!

  • Can anyone tell me the name of this song please?

  • no. 1 What song?

    no.2 Read description

  • strangely enough i cant do the first thing :/

  • thanks a lot, i've recently started breakdancing and i'm trying to learn some cool toprock moves, so this helped a lot =p

  • dont teach.....

  • thnks this helped

  • Its gonna rain!

  • nice tutorial man thanks

    was really helpful. faved*

  • thanks :D

  • would be better if you talked and explain the move other than that good vid

  • Thank you so much for posting this vid. Very nice tutorial and great analogies. This vid actually helps :]

  • Yes Maaaan!!!

  • Awesome vid, thanks :]

  • great tutorial thanks

  • Those are some slick footworks :D

I guess I overlooked on power moves too much!

  • I've had trouble following other tutorials.. but as soon as you mentioned the running man, I was able to do it before your video finished..

  • just got a question, I never usually see the "running man" in people's toprock. isn't that a Shuffle dance? o_O

  • It is a shuffle dance I guess, I've always thought of it as a 90's move from MC Hammer myself.

Im just saying that the running man is similar to rockin, rock step in motion. No reason you can't do a bit of the actual running man in toprock.

  • no the running man isn't a shuffle move it is used in the melbourne shuffle but it doesn't come from the shuffle

  • Haha I'm so bad that I can't do the kick variation of the running man

  • you aren't alone xD

  • the name of the song please???

  • when doing the pendulum swing, do you have to have your back feet flat?

  • Do whatever you want but I keep the weight on the balls of my feet, whatever looks best and feels right.

  • name of the song please??

  • ... read description please

  • Thanks for your tutorial! It seems so cold outside haha! I'm gonna practise now! Peace out man!

  • grr, its so hard doing this after you've been c-walking for a time

  • Lol I know. Confuses the footwork our lower body's used to.

    *Good tutorial btw, Flashlegz :P.

  • i no dude buh like u can make ur own top rocks usin cwalk

  • wow man u r good !!! oh btw can u make a slow one for 7 49?? cuz i try to do thht one but my foot keep messing up for some reason= =

  • dude that looks ownage

  • worth watching 5/5 great job man.

thanks for taking the time to make

this video. can you make a footwork

    vid?

  • Since you asked I'll consider it, I don't feel that my footwork is that good though.

Then again making these tuts actually improves the way I do things.

  • good

  • its really cool after a while it looks like some sort of optical illusion sorts. dark cloths and white soul shoes ?

  • The shoes are Puma El Reys, very nice, It was freezing at the time I filmed this so I was fully wrapped up.

But when it's warm I get trouble from the papa... paparazzi, haha

  • Pendulum swing was actually the original Top Rock. Nice tut.

  • I dunno if it has a proper name, just what I call it.

Seen a lot of different people saying what original toprocks were like and how they evolved from Mr Wiggles, Spy and Alien Ness

  • aww man! I get sweaty doing the pendulum swing! and I think my ankle cracked

  • wish I could do half of it. Will definitively work on it. Thank for the this great tuto. +5/5

  • Just run the TOP ROCK is not all, need to work on the rhythm of the beat music! If not it will become soulless!

    Peace n respect!

    Only an opinion

  • Most moves require good judgement and beat before use.

doing a windmill during some kind of guitar solo for example (of course, its not usually guitar solos, but more like record scratches etc)

  • Good job bboy :) nice top rock

  • good job man...helped me a lot

  • oops! sorry man, accidentally rated it 1star. it was suppose to be 5* though.
