Here is a permanant fix to 1-3 red rings of death:

1. throw the xbox out the window.

2. smash the xbox with a sledge hammer.

3. throw it in the bin.

4.buy an xbox 360 slim.

take out the hard drive and unplug the system and then plug eveything back in leave the hard drive out start it up if it works turn it off and put the hard drive back in it worked for me and i had the same problem

It's not dead, just pull the Nyko intercooler off. I had the same problem. It's only one red light and it's probably displaying error code E68 on the TV. If that's the case then it's the intercooler. take it off and buy a notebook cooler that runs off of a USB port. Radioshack for $20.
