I love this game but to be honest I think I should make video to actually help people understand the game game. The tutorial is awful, hardly describes the HUD and doesn't tell you to turn auto-loot on for easier looting. I mean I discovered by accident. The tutorial needs to be more in depth in what your controls really, describe the ship classification system. If I do make a video, I'm gonna have a tricky time getting all the info need. Shame really, this game is really good when you get into

@Thinkshaolin To be honest, EVE is a lot more large-scale and cerebral than a simple space combat flight sim. It's hard and unwieldy to first-person pilot anything larger than a strike craft or frigate, especially considering all of the strategic as well as tactical considerations that need to be made during fleet fights.

Try something like Starlancer if you're looking for IL2: Sturmovik in space. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bash SCSs, it's just not easy to implement grand-scale.

But you wont get the full experience unless you go PVPing.

you can do that in EVE, not the targeting but you can manually fly, it gets difficult when dealing with traversal velocities, turn rate at different speeds, acceleration, deceleration, your own turrets tracking speed and that of your opponent(s), roll-rate, ect. Then remember the crap ton of other people shooting at you and it gets damn complex damn quick. Still, I prefer the manual flying anyway since I have a natural talent for calculating angles and velocities. Cheers mate!

@bishketflux Part 1: As someone who's extensively played both, I can say that initially the feel of the games is actually quite similar, but once you play BGO for a while you can tell that they're two vastly different games. The first difference is EVE has much more in the way of economy and exploration. There's no player-based economy in BGO, it has a fraction of the systems, no wormholes or deadspace, and no complexes. If you're looking to build an empire, EVE is the game, not BGO.

@bishketflux Part 2: The second difference is in the combat itself, and this one swings BGO's way. EVE does have a certain amount of skill involved besides just "set orbit and fire", but it's nowhere close to BGO. The fact that turrets have small firing arcs means you have to maneuver quite well to stay in your opponent's blind spots. This leads to some epic simulator-style dogfights. As well, control of the ship involves real-time maneuvering with the mouse and WASD, not just clicking.

@bishketflux Part 3: To the feel of the games, EVE feels much more involved. You can spend days pouring over graphs to optimize a single aspect of the game if you wished. In BGO, you might spend an hour setting up a ship, if that. As well, BGO has less penalty for dieing. Combined with pvp being the main thrust of the game, look forward to constant fleet battles raging somewhere in space. All in all, EVE is about total immersion, BGO is about hopping in your ship and blowing something up.

I really want a space game, but not the Eve Online type. I played Eve for a while but I dont like how you just click on enemies to attack them. I'd like to aim, control my ship completely, etc.

@daymyth the ships that warped in at 3:29, and before you say eve has titans they are on a whole new level, search bsg online basestar. Its the main base for the cylons but can now be controlled for a short time via loads of pvp :)

You know in EVE you can build outposts, but they orbit planets. And well a titan with there ability to act as a jumpgate relay are more of a support vessel, I'd say that thing is more like dreadnaughts (heavy weapons focus) and supercarriers (fighters focus) as they are more the heavy siege weapon when attempting to take new regions of space with existing outposts.

And yea EVE IS pvp.

@daymyth i think dreadnaughts from eve are very similar to line ships. they both tear medium size ships to shreds and can take a serious beating but they are vunerable to wolf placks of smaller ships. in my opinion bsg is a simplified version of eve online, however ive never played eve but ive watched a few aliance tournaments and what not :)

@borredDead there was a game like that aages ago, on Amgia 5000. I can't remember the name but you'd land on various planets and do "trading" as you were a trade ship. I distinctly remember the massive acceleration because i'd be accelerating so fast the planet would come up so quickly i'd just smash right into it. you supposedly have to slow down ages before the planet. I was also just a kid when playing lol... was more of an intellectual game for older ppl so... i didn't play it much. ugh!
