Hi, I've replaced my fried geforce on amilo m3438g with an ati radeon hd3470, but the notebook doesn't boot....when I push the button, the leds at the bottom of the screen turn on for less than a second, then switch off again...no way to get the computer working! What can I do?

PS: Don't ask me why, but I have the Alienware bios on that notebook! xD Could this be the problem?

did you add the nvidia graphics card to it? Reason why i asked is that if you have the hd graphics, its near impossible to upgrade since its integrated into the motherboard, hence, cannot be upgraded. If your system can switch between the two, your lucky lol. Check your bios and drivers, make sure it can use that graphics card. Some laptops can only use such and such graphics card.

I never had the chance to do it, I'm not sure if the 310m uses MXM 3.0, but I'd check to make sure your laptop case can handle the extra output of heat the 560m would give out. That's what also worried me about upgrading my laptop gpu.

Also do not think that a laptop GPU with the same name as a desktop GPU are equal in speed.

For example, Dual GTX280's in SLI on a laptop is about as fast as a single 9800GTX on a desktop.

No that isn't possible. You only can replace it with an other nVidia Go6600. The sense of a changeable graphics in a laptop is, when the graphic card is damaged, you don't must change the whole laptop, only the graphics. that is cheaper! So there is only the Go6600 which fit in your laptop, sorry!
