  • Great, now im thirsty.

  • @shiman6d

    Very good. Prost

  • one question i know how can i make a fluid simulation but how can i make that my water looks like "water"

  • @mischa1900

First you must imagine how big your project can be in real world.

Then Model your object with nearly real size. Then also make real world size in domain.

Then there is a preset in domain called Water choose this.

Also important play with the resolution of the fluid. It takes time but it is important to see how the fluid flow.

    Thats it.

  • @Areandres3D thanks to you ^^

  • i find myself vary thirsty after watching this....

  • but does it blend?

  • @stopbotting

    Yes it will Blend

  • You have about 750 samples per frame...

    O.O

  • @Wireheadking

I dont know exactly. But the last half year many many

things are improved. In new cycles engine.

  • you think you could make a tutorial on how this is done?

  • @MrMike1365

Sorry not at the moment. I have not the environment.

    Maybe later

  • oh my god, it looks like real, well done man

  • @dramawind

Hi. Thanks for your nice comment.

  • @Areandres3D constructive criticism: under the integrator tab turn up the render samples to 500 to 1000. it will take a lot longer but you get better quality.

  • @sallytoothfuck

    Thanks for for comment.

I know that when i change the samples to quality is much improved.

But i don't make a re render because this project was a test

a half year ago. Cycles was very early prealpha version and very slow.

  • Wow! Nice!

  • @Abendsonne24

    Thanks

  • very nice.

What is the configuration of your computer?

  • @FelipeDR77

    I have an MAcPro with 24GB Ram and 1x ATI5870 and 1x nvidia 120.

    And 8x cores with 2.26ghz

    Thats it.

But for this animation i used the company computer.

    It is a 4x 2.66ghz and 8gb Ram with nvidia 120

  • I wish I was Australian. Nope, I'm a boring old American living in Arizona. But the water *does* look inviting and I *do* love to swim. :-)

  • @SuperPonygal

You are invited to swim in my small pool ;-)

But take care don't swim to far

  • Beauty. Time for a swim.

  • @SuperPonygal

I think we must wait until the weather becomes warmer ;-)

  • @SuperPonygal You must be Australian

  • I know this is dumb, but how do you animate/make water? thanks in advance.

  • @LemonadeCinema

Hey dude. First you must know how to config fluid in Blender then you can go ahead and try to make water. Please search for Blender fluid tutorial in youtube. You will find many usable tutorials. After that you can download my sample file to see what i did exactly.

  • i like to know how you got the water to work with the pipe and how you were able to get part of the glass box cut out for the second pipe

  • @kripto202

Hi, first you need an inflow object place it inside the pipe and make it invisible before you render. To cut a hole it is very simple just make some loop cuts and then delete the face what you want to cut. You can use also bole an operation but take because sometime the cut with be lean is not so accurate. The best way to see how i did it download the sample file and check all the points want you want to know.

  • @Areandres3D possible that u can make a tutorial?

  • @kripto202

Hey dude. Sorry not at the moment.

It would be to hard for me to make a tutorial.

  • @all

Watch my new Video. It is rendered with slg.

It simulate again very nice fluid.

  • jaja muy bueno, hasta me dio sed.. very good, I even got thirsty XD

  • @imsd1982

    Muchas gracias. Thank you. Dankeschön

  • @Areandres3D: Good work. I'm very interested in the lighting setup. How did you do the lights? As far as I know, Cycles don't support ambient occlusion (still). Have you used multiple plane configured as emitters? Thank you for your eventual answer.

  • @darkcg79

In this scene i used an environment HDR light and just one emitting plane.

Download the sample scene and you can study this scene.

  • @Areandres3D Thank you, guy. I didn't notice you were providing a blend file. Again, thank you!!!

  • @darkcg79

My pleasure. I hope the file is useful for you.

    Greets

  • @darkcg79

    I forgot something to say.

For this kind of renderer like cycles or luxrender or on. You don't need ambient occlusion. Because the renderer are complete different technology. This are physical based.

  • 0:14 w-what?

but seriously, really impressive, had me feeling...thirsty.

  • How do ou control the inflow of fluid? I know how to have it go continously, but not stopping. Srry. I am a noob at blender. I would know how to do it in AE with trapcode particular though. xD

  • @Qzyxya

You must control with keyframes the inflow.

It mean you choose the inflow object then go to physics panel.

There you will se the hook on right side from the inflow.

When you go over the hook and press i button the color will change.

Now go for example to frame 99 and press i button again over the hook.

Then jump to frame 100 turn off the inflow now the hook disappear. Press i and the empty square. Now the Inflow woks for 99 frames when the 100 starts the inflow stop.

    Thats it.

  • @Areandres3D Oh. I know about keyframes, but I don't know which parameters can be keyframed. Can they all?

  • @Qzyxya

Yes you can keyframe all parameters. later you can control them also with the graph editor.

  • how did u get the water look like that?

  • @PelazinhOoW

The key is. I made many many times test renders. Because it is hard to make water like this. Sometimes i exit the physics calculation because it don't look realistic. Then i started again and again. You need to test a lot because there is no general settings.

But one thing you must remember when you make fluid think how the dimensions can look like in real world. Then you we have success.

  • That is AWESOME!!!! How long was your renderingtime??

  • @verktyg55

    Thanks for your comment.

The render times was very long. I forgot the total time i think it was one week.

  • @Areandres3D how? Do you have a seperate rendering computer?

  • @Qzyxya

No i just render in background.

  • @Areandres3D hmm... I should try that. I know in after effects, when I am rendering it uses all of my CPU (100%) so it goes faster. Is there a way to sdjust this in blender?

Srry I am on my crappy netbook now. Can't see blender.

This is because I assume that you have a fast processor like an i7 or something. I have a two year old quad core AMD phenom. Only 2.8ghz and I don't know shit about overclocking or anything like that. xD I am noob at everything.

  • @Qzyxya

You don't need to adjust. The whole power of your computer will used by Blender.

But friendly speaking a netbook for 3D program like Blender it is not a good solution.

For small scenes and for training it is o.k. but for complex scenes you will becomes problems.

  • @Areandres3D Yeah. My netbook can barely handle 8 tabs on chrome, not to mention blender. xD

Do you know how to change the anchor point of a lamp? I want to do it like I could with shit+F on a camera. But right now, it rotates around the origin point and changes the position so it is always facing directly towards it. Then after I rotate it, I can change the position, but it rotates around the moved origin point.

I could change this in AE, but IDK how in blender. Srry fot the questions.

  • @Qzyxya

The only way i think you make a empty object then make a constraint from your lamp to the empty. With the empty you can control your lamp.

    I hope i could help a little.

  • Awesome looking fluid man. The most realistic CG water I've seen in a long time. (not counting Hollywood films, etc :P)

  • @kamalx0

Thanks for your nice comment :-)

  • @kamalx0 true dat. :D Love it.

  • realistic

  • NASA called they want their computer back.

  • @robyrobrob125

hey dude. I have contract with NASA and i spend lot of rental money to rent the computer. I can not give back ;-)

  • Can anyone tell me what cycles is? Im kinda lost...

  • @BjarkeDuDe

Cycles is the internal physical based render engine in Blender.

When you download the actual build from blender.org, cycles is already included.

  • Thats some sexy water... o_O

  • Hello, I've been working with Lightwave 3D but started trying our Blender for it's fluid characteristics. This is awesome looking. My question is, I see references to Luxrender on some of these and just curious what's going on. Does Blender not allow to render this scene? I understand you want everything to be lit right, etc due to huge render times but can you render the whole scene using Blender and if not, what is the workflow? Thanks! Kirk Productions

  • @kirkeric

    Hi Kirk,

the point is whit kind of renderer it does not matter. The key is how realistic it must look like. I choose the cycles because f path tracer do a very good job with transparent mats. You can use also lux, yafa, slg and so on. Even the interla renderer from blender is very powerful. But sorry to explain this is very hard for me. A better solution is that you download my sample and search for some tutorials. This is the best way to learn.

    Andy

  • @Areandres3D Thanks for the quick reply. The main thing I was trying to understand is how you build in one program (Blender) and render in another. I have been watching numerous tutorials and will see more. I am anxious to produce something like this. Great work.

  • @kirkeric

Dear kirk. If you have any questions let me know i try to help you.

    Andy

  • @Areandres3D Hello. On rendering, my main question is how do you choose another application to render. I presume you run cycles and then somehow tell something else to render so I'd like to understand how you use LuxRender for example. Does it use those zip files created during the baking? If Blender will render it fine then naturally, I would just use that. Is rendering done following the baking process or is the baking process THE rendering process. Thanks. Eric

  • @kirkeric

The only point what you need to decide is which kind of renderer you want to use.

Then download the plugin for the renderer all other points make blender.

You can not use the baking zip file.

  • @Areandres3D Ok, it is much more clear now. I made a first sample if you care you look at my page. I have a question though. Once you fill the glass dish, if you wanted to raise the middle upward, sort of like anti gravity, any pointers on how to do that? It would be basically like the Abyss movie. I guess the method for doing your drunken water man might be helpful. Thanks. Eric

  • @kirkeric

Nice first water anim i saw on your page.

Regarding the anti gravity i think there is a better solution for you.

Make an invisible sphere and with this sphere go to Physics, fluid there you activate there control. With this control you can make like a magnet for fluids. Search this in youtube "Blender Fluid control test" then you will see what i mean.

I hope this helped you a little.

  • @Areandres3D zThanks. Yes, those look very much like I want. Just not sure what they do to make things move around and push the water up. Like in the example where it is a flat square and begins lifting up, almost like ice, then drops back down.

  • @kirkeric

The key is. You must make an control object the move the object with keyframes.

I will prepare a sample then i upload on youtube.

  • @Areandres3D Thanks Andy. I look forward to seeing it. Eric

  • @kirkeric

Hi Eric watch my last video. I did this for how it can look like.

Working with control object. The fluid is not realistic because the focus was the fluid control.

  • thumbs up if u got thirsty after watching this

  • Grüße auch zurück aber wer bist du ?

  • I thought it was real O.o

  • nicht schlecht andy grüße von der hardhöhe

  • More then 10k hits.

    Wow i am realy impressed.

    Thanks to all.

  • if you go to blendswapdotcom(replace dot with .), you can download this model.

  • This looks great, i've been doing some fluid sims in cycles also. How did you get the water to look so good, since i've been using the glass material with a 1.333 ior, i was wondering if you did anything different to make it look so watery

  • @ActionShorts7

Thank you for your nice feedback. You can download my file from blend swap or from my website then you will se how i did it.

A very important point is always that you have the correct light and position for the light.

    And testing testing testing.

  • now why dont game companys do this

  • @MrFracture101

Because at the moment i think the computers are to slow to make all the things in realtime.

Calculate the water calculate the light and materials. In some years you will find this in realtime.

  • @Areandres3D I see. But for some reason when i try to go to blender.org it wont pop up it just loads slow then says cannot connect to sight.

  • Yes i did this on my Computer it is a MAC Pro.

  • Beautiful. Thx for the blendfile. But 9min per frame... did this take a week to render?! Ouch.

  • @kooky216

Yes it take between 8 - 10 min per frame. Rendertime was really long but for me the result was more important.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • is it really fake? anyways.. i have the urge to drink water now

  • I am Part of the reality patent. For me it is allowed.

  • Excuse me, but reality is patented. You can't do that.

  • dude we all know this is fake, you just filmed some water in your bathroom

  • @quantenfrik

Upps you found my fake. Good.

  • @quantenfrik It's an awful strange looking bathroom considering there is no toilet, urinal, sink,or bathtub/shower. No, it only has a table with the water containeron it.

  • Hi@all,

i added the downloadlink for the blendfile in the descriptions.

  • no caustics? :(

  • @Capeau

Hi. Sorry no i think there are two or three reasons why.

First this was one of the early cycle builds and the caustics are not implemented.

Second the light was not bright enough and i did not use any point light.

Third there is no area for caustics you can not see the ground under the water.

You can download the scene from my webside and test

The focus on this animations was the fluid.

  • Someone was so excited they missed the like button! :O

  • @MrMegaMulp LOL!

  • As i promised.

Here is the original file for Blender. You need a cycles build for rendering and you must bake the fluid before starting the rendering.

    Enjoy and leave a comment.

  • Hi @ all,

i am really impresed how much peoples watch my video.

    Thanks a lot.

As gift i will share the blend file within the next days.

    Greets

  • this is nice woow what graphic card did you use :/

  • @MrIsiah777 The graphics card is not important in this case. You can make a render of this quality on any machine (within reason), but on some it might be faster or slower.

  • @LearnToBlend are you sure man :/ i heard that cycles uses your graphic card not your CPU

  • @MrIsiah777

Yes i am shure. I have NVIDIA card. I use ATI and there is no open cl support at the moment.

If i had a nvidia card believe me the rendertime would be much much lover

  • I mean i have no NVIDIA card.

  • @Areandres3D so i guess you dont need one to create such beautiful results thanks man i am goner try render my own :D

  • Hey you, well I'm fighting now with the material settings of the water...I can't get it that bright and clear as yours, mine stays dark, whatever I'm doing, and different lightening does not work it out...

Could you give me a hint pls? :)

  • @machbauer132

It is very important that you make the Bounces Max 50 or higher.

Then you need backround light like from an HDIR or arealight.

More light is better for reflections in the water.

If you have still problem then send me your blend file then i will check where is the problem.

  • Hey, I'm trying to do the same thing now...how did you make it that Blender does not crash while animating it? I've set the resolution to 480*270 with Render:10 and it throws an error after only a few frames.. :(

  • @machbauer132

It is hard to say what you are doing wrong.

What Version of Blender are you using ?

  • Comment removed

  • @machbauer132 Rendering any frame at any resolution and render depth works like a charm...but animating seems very critical :(

  • @machbauer132

    I make like this.

I render the Animation as pictures.

It mean each frame save as jpeg then use a Video editing

to make a video. This is working all the time perfect.

  • OMFG!! Brilliant!

  • @OtterPubes

    Thanks that you like it.

  • Nice work,I have just 2 questions: What RealWorldSize did you chose?

Was the material Glass BSDF? If so why is you Fresnel value smaller 1, I can just set bigger values?..

    Greetings

  • @machbauer132

    The RealWorldSize is 1.5 Meter.

    Yes i used Glass BSDF.

Regarding i don't remember about fresnel because Cycles.

Changed a lot and now you have IOR.

In the Past 1 was the highest now IOR is correct and you can use bigger values.

Monday i will release a new Video with fluid, light and glass rendered in the actual Version of Blender.

    Andy

  • Comment removed

  • actually did I ask? what was the resolution? It's awsome man! I can watch it all day! Very reallistic and powerful!

  • @TitanaMaster

i use a resolution of 350 in this simulation.

    Thanks for your nice comment

  • this is dope, make a fish tank! :D

  • @ all thanks for the nice komments.

Sorry at the Moment i can not make any tutorial because i have no mic and i am rookie in Blender. I learn a lot at the moment.

    Greets Andy

  • Nice work! :)

  • @Zeitfreund

    Thanks :-)

  • excellent! briliant! well done.

  • tuto please?

  • @vborg101

I use for the glass Beckmann Roughness 0 Fresnel 0.2 Color FBFEFF.

And a very important point is you need a good Environment background as lightning source. Then the water looks good.

  • can u tell me what settings u used to make the water material?

  • That´s perfect! really perfect. Thanks for taking that week :) to render that!

  • Lol yes it was nearly one week.

  • @Areandres3D watching this makes me thirsty ^_._^

  • That must have taken forever to render. :)

  • Wow, really nice.

Cant wait for it to be at least in beta state :-)

    Really nice render.
