Alcohol is (or at least, can be) a disgusting substance but it is always the person that makes a decision to drink it, conscious or not. After having experienced various alcohol-related problems at home my patience and sympathy for these people is limited and severely taxed. My sympathies go out to the young person. She didn't choose to be landed with such an irresponsible, uncaring parent, and I wish her all the strength in the world. Hopefully her situation will improve.
