I was never a fan of Sims 2. It was alright when I first got it but that was back when Sims 3 wasn't released. Now that I have SIms 3, that is all I ever play. Sims 1 is epic fail when compared to the later games bit y'all gotta admit that it was the start of something amazing. I spent hours upon hours playing the original Sims 1.

I think EA Games abandoned Sims™ 2 too soon. There was so much more they could have done with it. To me, the major drawback in Sims™ 2 is the lonnngg loading screens. Otherwise I love it.

I still think there is more stuff you can do in Sims™ 1 as far as gameplay, etc. It would be hard to choose only one of them if I had to though, since I'm addicted to both, LOL.
