@jackgiggal er... stan bush wrote this... that is stan bush... the original singer of The Touch.... an i wish you luck with beating michael bay up, i'm sure his bodyguards will be very amused with your attempt.
The movie: would have been amazing if it wasn't for the side "love story" they tried putting in.
The rapper in this song: is a nobody, his lyrics sound like a 10 year old going "HEY! that rhymes!" Death of a great song and Tv show I grew up with ='(.. (still going to watch the 3rd though)
I actually don't mind the slightl depressing undertone... And Stan Bush is still awesome.. . It's just the rapper is so terrible. Seriously: at what point did one of the sound producers say "HEY! This guy sounds BRILLIANT!". Whoever it was deserves to get fired.
The rapper sucks. Other than that, while it doesn't have the power of the '80s version of the song, it's alright. Fits the new movies to a tee, that's for sure.
It's a shame this didn't make it into the movie.... I would've loved to had seen a "Light our Darkest Hour" moment. Would have made the movie much better.
it isn't better than the original but this version isn't bad by any means either. I don't really care for the rap part of the song but it does bring something different to the table, reminds me a little of linkin park but mike's rapping is a lot better lol. Either way the song kind of grew on me and i have both versions on my ipod so what I'm getting at is give it a chance...
nice version, but it will NEVER beat your original! Every time you hear it all you can see is that beautiful red transport truck with its magic trailer mowing down Deceptions... "happy sigh"
Stan Bush's voice is still killer after all these years. I'll bet if Linkin Park covered this, it would have made it into the movie and would have been a hit. The rap verses has Mike Shinoda written all over it.
This new version is decent but I just wanna bitch slap this idiot every time he starts rapping. It seriously ruins the song every time this fool opens his mouth.
hey everyone .this version is cool but i like the original one bettter i seen this one at jacon 2009 when stan played for the guest and everyone that came ot that con it was great to see him preform the song and dare it was a great time.
I think this could have been a lot worse; for that matter, I am glad to see this song have another chance at life.
For whatever it's worth, I think it could have been better without the rap segments. They just do not mesh well with Mr. Bush's voice.
As for the new instrument backing, I believe it should not have used grunge and nu-metal thematic(s). The overall theme is a tad dark compared to the original's optimistic leitmotif.
See comic book films can b modernised more easily bcos they modernise themselves anyway. But something like this should do what Watchmen did and set thier story at the time of the source material.
I concur with all the comments. It is a little dishearting that Michael Bay is trying to modernize transformers to the modern day pop culture.. I wish he would just stick with the original G1 concept. I love the originals they were a part of my childhood. I think I speak for everyone here that has grown up in the 80s.
@Dead2ritz78 Most filmmakers r retards when it comes to this very simple concept. At 1 point no1 was a Transformers (or whatever) fan, so what did the Transformers have that got it fans. Whatever it was if u replicate it then u would get new fans, therefore the more accurate the better. U have 2 make certain concessions as this is a film instead of a tv format, but essentially if u make a movie with likeable robots that the audiance can carw about then u will win
@BlackAce1229, I liked Revenge of the Fallen but your right. They could have done without the sex jokes. There were kids in the theater. I know that they're learning sex ed in grade 2 these days but they could have had funny jokes that were not sex oriented. Also I don't think that the script wasn't as good as the first movie. I heard it was because of the writers strike.

o__o they have not done bad but they have still btchered a great franchies......i mean if they had remained true to teh original gen 1 designs it might have been better but they had to go and change it all so it r uinedi t for me....but prime kicks ass no matter what form you put him in....this song wasnt bad though i wish i could find it somewhere online to have
wow, what a perfect analogy for the Bayformers. I mean, just compare this to the original and you have the difference between the original Transformers and the new ones. There's the awesome classic original and there's this version, neutered of all that made the original awesome and frontloaded with all sorts of "hardcore" pop-culture bullshit.
@Bre2nan I was going to comment, but you said exactly what I was thinking (and Gantzer1 said my first reaction watching Bay's movie!). I've never heard this version until now (I actually really liked the remake Stan did), and I have to say, it's very bad indeed. Glad I never sat through Bayformers 2 after the first disaster and now this.
If they only used the original version of the Touch in ROTF the fight scene with Prime kicking the Fallen & Megatron, believe me, no matter how geeky it will sound, I think it would rock the hell out of us TF fans!
I wanna know something... when did it stop being cool to be... I dunno... cool? <_< I was a dork, now I can beat up most college kids. What the hell? And I'm still the same RPG EverCrack addict I was back then.
Totally agree. Well...I wasn't born in '80, but I know what you mean. 2007 revamp of this song was pretty good, 'cause there were no big difference beetween it and '86 version, but this... oh god, this is a real piece of shit.
I really like both songs. At first the rap discouraged me, but when I really listened to it, it's not so bad. It's still the same message just updated. Nowadays it's hard to listen the the original and see it the same light as they did in the 80's, in my opinion.
Oh yeah, I think the rapper might be trying to hard to be serious and the guitarist's had too much of the other guys weed :P
Jesus tap-dancing Christ... Bay warped one of the most positive, upbeat, and iconic songs of the 80s into a cheap, tuneless emo song for 15 year olds to cut themselves to. And come on, Bush, you can't be THIS desperate for a paycheck! <:S
And this is NOT Sam's theme. If anything, Sam's theme should be "I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me?".
I cringed the first time i saw this vid.. but gotta admit.. not a bad attempt at a new twist of this song.. i guess what killed it was the silly looks on the rapper n guitarist faces LOL...
After rewatching this a few times, I think my favorite part is the weird shit eating grin the guitarist has the entire video. Like, Stan and the rap guy (who looks like a cross between Shia Lebouf and Luke Wilson, which also kinda weirds me out) are trying to do the whole serious/depressed face thing, and he's just got a big smirk the whole time, like he's the only one who's in on the joke.
@moron989 - the piano parts sound very similar to the parts from New Divide (the Linkin Park song for RotF), and the whole rapping/talky parts + heavy guitar gives off a very Linkin Parky vibe. Not saying they were trying to rip off Linkin Park, more that they knew that was the musical theme for the new movie and wanted to make something that would fit in.
ya..i know stan personally, and we were talking about that. he did try to put some linkin park in there. in the first transformers movie stan competed with link park to have his sng played during the credits
Sounds like a remix. Instead of doing a 'L-P' style remake, he should have kept the upbeat, powerful sound of the 80's & updated 2 something more like Nickelback's 'If everyone Cared', or maybe something like Creed's 'Take Me Higher'.
I'm still adding this, because it's one of those songs that, if you yourself ever became an artist, you'd want to do a version of. I'm glad he got in the Movie, tho.
This is pretty cool. The movie sucked ass but this is a nice update from Stan! I agree that the rapping is a bit out of place. Seems like they want a Linkin Park feel. Which is bad.
(sorry, but i had to get that out of my system,it was annoying me that they call the talky parts rap,rap is something on it's own, when there's rock in it,there's no way it can be rap,if it's a rap song alone, then it's rap)
Where's Michael Bay so I can go beat the shit out of him for not only this abomination and the complete and total shitfest that was "Revenge of the Fallen"
I don't understand why people keep saying this is bad. I admit that I didn't like it at first, especially the video. But when I listen to it, it sounds actually pretty cool. This song is meant for the character Sam, who has these difficult trials to face when being befriended with Alien Robots, so it's normal that the song has a different tune to it.
I love the original one, but I love this one too. If you compare the both of them, the themes aren't the same.
Yea. I would like it a lot better if there was no rapping in it. I like the more emo theme for all the new age kids who don't like uplifting songs but the rap just kills it for me. It will never replace the original version. ever.
I personally love this version. Thanks so much for uploading!

And this is NOT Sam's theme. If anything, Sam's theme should be "I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me?".

Michael Bay ruined a good series, and now a good song. No Bay Transformers movies = no shitty version

I cringed the first time i saw this vid.. but gotta admit.. not a bad attempt at a new twist of this song.. i guess what killed it was the silly looks on the rapper n guitarist faces LOL...

I love how at 0:55, he just steps up like "I'm Martin Sheen, get out of my way scrub"

This sounds like LP

At least they got Stan Bush back in.

Tuba1060 2 years ago
The grinning guitar player , towards the end .. there's a quick clip where he looks like Dan Akroyd 3:47

I know rap music way better than this...
This...
This is just a boring song.

Why does Stan look like Paul Mccartney now?
Shadowhog 2 years ago
@moron989 - the piano parts sound very similar to the parts from New Divide (the Linkin Park song for RotF), and the whole rapping/talky parts + heavy guitar gives off a very Linkin Parky vibe. Not saying they were trying to rip off Linkin Park, more that they knew that was the musical theme for the new movie and wanted to make something that would fit in.

Stan Bush is my best friend's dad, i drove to the 09 botcon with them. i know the guitarist and his son personally too

.... The original version was... is... much better than this, but the original movie was better too. This is all my opinion.

y dos everybody rip on this vid?they didnt want a linkin park feel or rip on linkin park.i dont hear it at all.but, linkin park really?
moron989 2 years ago
ya..i know stan personally, and we were talking about that. he did try to put some linkin park in there. in the first transformers movie stan competed with link park to have his sng played during the credits
Alexatives 2 years ago
Sounds like a remix. Instead of doing a 'L-P' style remake, he should have kept the upbeat, powerful sound of the 80's & updated 2 something more like Nickelback's 'If everyone Cared', or maybe something like Creed's 'Take Me Higher'.
I'm still adding this, because it's one of those songs that, if you yourself ever became an artist, you'd want to do a version of. I'm glad he got in the Movie, tho.
Still, 80's version was far more...evocative.
Would u congrats him 4 me, plz.

so true, so true. the 80's version at the scene:
rise, rodimus prime.
......optimus......?
that scene is most amazing because of the touch song!!!!

I was all ready to laugh at this video...but, its actually not THAT bad. (except for the rapping)
joshua6200 2 years ago
This is pretty cool. The movie sucked ass but this is a nice update from Stan! I agree that the rapping is a bit out of place. Seems like they want a Linkin Park feel. Which is bad.
ShodanMark 2 years ago
i am okay with the update but the rap part really annoys me. Rap is not music imo!
toronto1234 2 years ago
it's not rap,it's talky parts
(sorry, but i had to get that out of my system,it was annoying me that they call the talky parts rap,rap is something on it's own, when there's rock in it,there's no way it can be rap,if it's a rap song alone, then it's rap)

I didn't like this song at first, but it somehow managed to grow on me. o_o Go figure. Still like the original, but this one holds its own in a way.
tehpaws 2 years ago
nice new take on a classic song.
SalesKital 2 years ago
I don't understand why people keep saying this is bad. I admit that I didn't like it at first, especially the video. But when I listen to it, it sounds actually pretty cool. This song is meant for the character Sam, who has these difficult trials to face when being befriended with Alien Robots, so it's normal that the song has a different tune to it.
I love the original one, but I love this one too. If you compare the both of them, the themes aren't the same.
Great job, Stan. I love it.
Juliapopstar 2 years ago
Man, this song is not about Sam at all. It doesn't work as the theme for anybody whose last name isn't "Prime".
Tulkastaldo 2 years ago
Hey, I'm not a Linkin Park fan. Used to when I was twelve, but not now.
As it happens, I prefer this version over the original.
turnerbattosai 2 years ago
Its an OK update of the song, but has npothing on the original version!
mikeyboylfc 2 years ago
Yea. I would like it a lot better if there was no rapping in it. I like the more emo theme for all the new age kids who don't like uplifting songs but the rap just kills it for me. It will never replace the original version. ever.
