What is the arcing that we're seeing when the person in the Faraday Suit holds out the wand? And why doesn't it bother the instruments in the helicopter? If there's arcing, then somethings grounded right? I hope that there's no fumes present from fuel with all that arcing!
@evensteve284 The arcing is because of the difference in potential energy (voltage) between the line and the helicopter. The helicopter itself is made of metal, which means that all of its electrical charge is distributed strictly on the surface of the skin. The electronics of the helicopter are protected for the same reason the Faraday suit protects the line worker. Around electricity, the safest you'll ever be is if you are **completely** surrounded by conductor.
