Yes, VW builds Jetta in Mexico, also FORD, Chrysler, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Toyota, Honda, etc. They build GOOD quality cars in Mexico... other companies also build cars in Canada with the same good quality but I agree taxdollars should be spend in US to save American's jobs.
Fiat is not a reliable company, it builds some cars in Brazil, those cars really suck, they have very poor quality, also Fiat's designs are horrible, you can check them in Fiat's webpage.
Making cars in Mexico = crappy quality. VW builds their cars in Mexico and they are just about the least reliable cars you can buy. Any reputation they have for high quality is FALSE. Its based on when they imported their cars from Germany. I'd love to buy a Fiat 500, but not if its made in Mexico. So so disappointing. (I had a VW built in Mexico and it was the worst piece of crap ever, so yes my opinion is totally biased.)
Chrysler just sounded it's own death-knell today, Aug. 17, 2009 but making public that the Fiat cars will be made in Mexico.
I.e. U.S. taxdollars are being used to build factories in foreign lands and employing foreigners. This is absolutely unacceptable. U.S. taxdollars are for Americans only. With over 15+MIL Americans unemployed Chrysler has shown it is nothing but a terrorist company.
Really? I guess it is just like a proud HUMAN to have over 14 million vehicles with faulty seatbelts that can eject occupants in accidents where crash test dummies were ejected during testing, lack of Brake Shift Interlock where Mothers were being rolled over in their minivans, Seats that can collapse backward and injur or kill infants sitting behind, Steering in LH Vehicles known to have Inner Tie Rod Bolts Shear off causing loss of control, Wheels Hubs and Ball Joints that seperate and more!
Is it like a proud HUMAN company to decline valid warranty claims whenever possible forcing already struggling hard working American families to pay thousands on repairs that should be covered under warranty.
I would emplore you to visit the dodgechryslersucks channel and find out more about what you call a "proud Human company". Also visit dontbuydodgechryslervehicles do t c om
I would call it more of a "monster" that overly greedy corporate executives destroyed AFTER Lee Iaccoca.
Oh and I forgot, this "Proud HUMAN" company also just "slithered" its way out of liability for all for these defects it has known about for years where it somehow got out of having to be liable or being able to be sued for any any previous defects. In sharp contrast GM agreed to take on any product liability.
Again, a very proud HUMAN company. There might be some proud HUMANS working there but I wouldn't call it a Proud Human company, it's not very in touch with its human consumers.
maybe, not sure..but still there is a certian pride that is lost when a legendary american car make being owned by some foreign car make. mostly onwed or even partly. it is kinda like the M1 Abrahm's tank being owned by Smart.

Then u r a very lucky person, while the rest of us has had to replace our chrysler/ford/GM transmission numerous times and the average lifespan of said cars were about 100000 miles, u can sit pretty with ur lucky finds.

Changing ALL the fluids when you are susposed to. NOT driving like a MORON....... the list goes on and on and on and.........
My dodge ram has 310,000 miles . My chrysler concored has 240,000 miles. Both original except batterys, shocks, tires, etc. I will NEVER BUY SOME PIECE OF SHIT JAP/CHINESE CAR.
it's dejavu all over again, "pass the crappy company that executives over the years even pre-daimler have ran into the ground". Just like they originally referred to the Daimler deal as a merger of equals, this is referred to as an "alliance" for PR. However, it will end up with Cerberus, the private investment firm dumping the company and FIAT buying it out or buying pieces as Chrysler is pieced out.
In the minds of most Americans(myself included) Chrysler is and has for a long time been regarded as a crappy third rate automaker. Most folks I know never considered a Chrysler when shopping for a new car. When it was suggested they were revolted at the thought. That brand should be allowed to die.
What I meant to say is that if you want a Great quality, long lasting, reliable, well built, automobile you should buy from trusted Japanese brands i.e Toyota,Honda,Nisson, etc.Face it Chrysler has been reduced to a no name-third rate automaker now owned by another no-name third rate automaker. If you get any group of people together and offered them a choice between a Toyota or a Chrysler/Fiat car 100% will choose a Toyota no questions asked.
No..a car's true quaility is based on precise enginering, durability of parts/componants,innovative construction.Something the "big 3" losers sorely lacked. The painful cuts/bankruptcy/restructuring they are going thru now should have been done In the 70s and 80s when they were having their asses handed to them by Japanese automakers. If they had done that then maybe they'd be in a stronger position now.
exactly, it should have been allowed to die, especially after its own private owner Cerberus had so little confidence that IT refused to dump any of its billions of dollars into "its own" company even after basically having Daimler basically "paid" Cerberus to take the company after everything was said and done.
Also when the government was bailing out GM & Chrysler. They invested heavily in GM but when it came to Crapsler..I mean Chrysler They were really eager to have it sold off.I really noticed how desperately they wanted to off-load it.Like it wasent really worth saving.Really makes you think how badly damaged the brand truly is.
exactly, it was also clear to me that the liability exceeded the companies value/assets the way that the Govt. had to help the company get out of all previous defect liability which as a Chrysler spokesman put it "was a necessary step for it's survival".
exactly. I also believe that since it needed to get out of all it's past defect liability that seemed to exceed the value of the company that yes, it defintely should NOT have been allowed to survive. Company is injuring and killing an excessive amount of people with more defects it refuses to take responsibility for and/or correct, especially more than any other automaker, kill the company.
And Peugeots have the best Suspension of all cars, great styling and luxury features.
Chrysler has great ideas, and must say that 90% of their cars, excluding the compass, caliber and current Sebring, are the prettiest of the road, they turn many heads. The problem With Chrysler is with the Engineering in terms of reliability, interior quality and fuel efficiency.
Fiats are Sturdy-made, road competent, and have many Clever Features, I had a Fiat Tempra!
I´ve had cars from diverse manufacturers and must say that Fiats are very Smart Cars, I had a 2002 Chrysler Sebring 2.0LE which was a jewell but had some build quality issues, anyway I loved It, also a 2006 Liberty Limited, Awesome!
