I think Natalie Grant is an awesome singer and I love her songs. This video just shows that even amazing singers aren't perfect and sometimes struggle through performances like the rest of us ,lol. I'm singing this song at church tonight and hopefully I'll do it as much justice as she does!
I watched the official video and then this live version, and added the live version to my channel...I'll take the live version with its "quirks" over technical perfection. She sings with such conviction and she has such a heart for the audience. Her emotion could have affected her voice.

people are said to sing much better when they actually put some into what the words and music. vocal coaches will tell you it's useless to sing a song based on notes and keys alone. you have to be into it to make it work. she might've "felt it," but it doesn't change the fact that she butchered her own song.

When ministering with music, "performance" is secondary.
In other words, it's not about how perfect she is or isn't...it's whether or not the message of the song reached the hearts of those who heard.
I'm guessing it did.
