There is another sidequest that features a pyramid exactly like this one. On top of it, you find a Prothean artifact. This suggests that these pyramids were made by the Protheans, something further supported by the textures used to build the pyramid (the same textures are seen everywhere during the Ilos mission) and by a cutscene from ME2.
nah this is based off a theory called eh ''the ancient cosmonaut theory'' basically that at times throughout human history an advanced life form gave us information/technology to further us. Basically either Protheans built these on earth or we built them to replicate the protheans
This isn't really a mystery, it's a prop object, the mummified salarian was researching, he has Matriarch Writings that he likely found nearby. A REAL Mass Effect mystery is the Prothean Orb.
@TheSBDroid2 No. When the Consort gives you the Trinket in ME1, you can take it to Eletania in the Hercules System within the Attican Beta Cluster. In the SE area of the map is a Prothean Ruin with a mysterious glowing orb that gives your shep a flashback of human cromags (cave men) interacting with Prothean's who are studying them. It's a neat little unlisted side quest.
*sigh* i miss this part of ME. u know, real planetary exploring. was always fun. (spoiler alert! [in case u didnt already know]) stupid idiots took it out in ME2. pissed me off
@Codis998 and yet they took it out and replaced it with a lazy scanner and probe which kills any chance at finding stuff like this. they killed a good thing and replaced it with something pointless and stupid. thus, idiots.
@brakoth0 Yes I do agree! I'd rather explore than taking my chances on scanning for resources on an hourly bases. It sucks when you don't even get an accurate probe shot onto the richest deposit. And just scanning the whole planet for ages just till it is depleted can be mission... then we go onto the next one... and the next one....
@Codis998 and lets not forget the "annomaly detected" bit of the scanning. 30 minutes spent looking for an annoying message with nothing to lead on but a garbled speech in a much-to-large range
Whilst the mako side-missions did suck in fairness, scanning also sucked.
Realistically if they didn't make the exploring area so big it'd be better where as in ME 2 its concise. I know they are going for the sci-fi element of exploring a planet, but its not fun driving the mako aimlessly over mountains etc 2 minutes at a time, if they 50/50 it with probes & driving. It would give the feel of exploring vast areas whilst taking out the travel drag which annoyed many
Well Bioware confirmed that they will keep scanning but hybrid of scanning and Hammerhead( hopefully with armor and shields in ME3) exploration is still possibility.
I went to the top of one and found some loot in its tip. I just wish/hope that all the little stuff like these pyramids, and the multitude of stuff discovered in ME2 come to light in ME3. So many planets had 'curious' information and quite a few had information on strange activity, strange signals, or other 'strange' behavior or information on how the particular planet relates to certain species. It would be nice if EDI is keeping a log of this and they come to play in ME3.
No, they Protheans were around at the time of the humans. Well at the time of Cro-Magnon humans. If you recover the prothean orb it describes a prothean studying a cave-man. Well that's what is assumed.
The studying cave-men theory works, the oldest fossil of homo sapiens found is 190K. But going as far to say that the Protheans helped or influenced the building of the pyramids; speculation and theory aren't on the same side as the timelines.
You know you've made a successful Sci-Fi franchise when people can have these sort of discussions.
@bigbang377 I found a prothean ruin on a planet (cant remember which). it was a shiny silver ball and some text popped up explaining how the protheans studied the cro magnon people. if you dont know what a cro magnon is, they are the earliest known modern humans in terms of physiology and existed up to 100k years a go.
@bjm1702 well im not too far into the game.. u must have had tali with u and maybe her quarian scientist skill all the way up cuz i didnt get squat when i played :C
@bigbang377 LOLOLOLOLOLOlL You're wrong :) they studied us as cave people, theres evidence as represented in the Mysterious Orb easter egg,and in the Codex which says there was information regarding the study of humans on the Prothean Mars outpost :)
The Pyramids were possibly built by the Protheans, and the Protheans are also believed to have had a large impact on Egypt (Anubis sure does look like a Prothean). They believe that the Protheans built these pyramids on Earth, were seen by the Egyptians, and believed to be Gods. The Protheans are also believed to have done research on the Cro-magnon human on their Mars station.
Some things are better left unkown, especially those that are out of our control.
My wonder is if it was some kind of planetary defense weapon. The tip of the pyramid appears like an unkown metal, and I wonder if it extends out to do something.
I've come across alot of these pyramids on various planets, they are pretty common. Sometimes you can salvage stuff from the tip up top, for whatever sidequest has you collecting prothean junk, cant remember the name.
no an ancient Egyptian magician named Djeda told the pharaoh Khufu that the Hall of Records lay under the Giza Plateau. but Khufu was unable to open it. now Egyptologists are looking for it.
@btet15 no no. the unexplored planets were boring as hell... not the mako. ME2 didnt put in either of them, which just really made it suck more. none of the anomaly planet quests were much fun either.
@garrett686 I hated the Mako because it was slow, tedious, and boring. It contributed nothing and managed to detract from the enjoyable parts of the game.
Tossing around insults doesn't win you any favors, by the by.
yeah, i found this one and another one on some planet i forgot, its really weird, i inspected it for like 20 minutes because i thought it had some purpose or something, because you don't just leave a pyramid out there lol
Fuck the aliens helping the Egyptians, the Egyptians helped the aliens lol!
no but i hate it when people say the Egyptians couldn't build the pyramids without help, just because we're to stupid to figure it out (the chinese tried to build a modern one and it collapsed on them) doesn't mean the Egyptians couldn't do it
are you telling me you don't think the Egyptians achieved space travel?! Ever hear of the Hall of Records under the Giza Plateau that no one has found yet? i bet you anything we'll find it in there, just you watch. lol
An ancient Egyptian magician named Djeda told the pharaoh Khufu that it was under the Giza Plateau, but Khufu was unable to open it. now Egyptologists are looking for it but are unable to locate it.
Wait a minute go to page 6 to see your comment (roughly) are you saying you think that the egyptians acheived space travel? & claiming the hall of records as evidence which many scholars in ancient egyptian history & archealogists who study the egyptians don't believe in for the most-part & so far hasn't been found.
I could just as easily say Moses is buried there & cause there is no evidence you can't dispute it.
no no you misunderstand me. i was joking. I dont believe the egyptians achieved space travel. But i also dont believe that aliens helped them in anyway like some people do.
as for the hall of records. most egyptologist dismiss the idea of a hall of records but they dont dismiss the possibility of finding an unknown collection of something under the Giza plateau. they dont believe it will contain advanced technology or anything but it could be somethinglike a library
Did anyone notice what was in the other one you can find? I think it was for a child maybe... I don't know, but it does seem like a Burial Site. I don't know about you, but when I get buried, I am not going to want all my childhood toys buried with me.
I don't know what may have been in that one, I'd be curious to find out though.
The purpose is kinda obvious. It implies that the protheans had some effect on earth architecture. Particularly the Gazan pyramids. Standard precurson stuff. The egyptians always had alien contact. The greeks often do too, since they're pretty famous. No other civilization gets so lucky. Poor Babylonians, poor Mesopotamians.
considering a pyramid is a simple and stable shape to create an impressive building one would expect cultures all over to develop pyramids independently, much like the wheel
Other cultures, such as the aztec, tended to develop them with thick layers. It would be notably unusual for the developers to make it look almost exactly like a giza pyramid, with weathered marble and all at random.
That pyramid sorta has a purpose, but it's also kinda pointless I guess. Basically, if you go to it, climb up to the top, now align yourself with the edge pointing to the southeast. Just stand there for a bit, bathroom break. When I came back, I went down, and then started running at that edge, now turn around and go back up. Look again towards the southeast, but this time keep your view down with your weapon out along the edge and look up SLOWLY, you'll see a strange symbol glitching.
There r like 4 Prothean Pyramids. However, the only one that actually taught you something was that orb thing. What makes me curious is the fact that there are Pyramids on Earth along with the fact that Protheans had Pyramids. Could the human gods be Protheans?
where did u get that dragon thing! i want one!

4. follow that checkpoint for a like 2 mins and u should see a floating checker box above a mountain in front of u, zoom in if u want a better view.

Look again towards the southeast, but this time keep your view down with your weapon out along the edge and look up SLOWLY, you'll see a strange symbol glitching.

ive found pyramid...not in that location though...mine was ontop of a cliff

There r like 4 Prothean Pyramids. However, the only one that actually taught you something was that orb thing. What makes me curious is the fact that there are Pyramids on Earth along with the fact that Protheans had Pyramids. Could the human gods be Protheans?

ugh, the one thing that pissed me off about this game was the Mako, it handles like an extremely obese person balancing on one broken roller skate.

I find the mako a bit annoying but whats more annoying is that you cant shoot Civ.

Well i guess its okay to shoot your Mates with HE rounds and grenade them over and over and over again.
Okay maybe thats little bit extreme
But WHY CANT I SHOOT A VI! (virtual intelligence)
