IL-2 Sturmovik is, by far, the best/funnest flight combat game I've ever played. I've completed others like Blazing Angels I & II, Ace Combat, Tom Clancy's HAWX, witch are fun too, but the creators of IL-2 did such a fantastic job with great attention to detail. I absolutely love it.

this game sucks. you cant aim your guns for shit. your cross-hairs are just all over the place . turning the plane is a bitch and trying to look around using the R3 button just causes your guy to tweek out.
@IIIArrow711 It's the controls that are shitty. I love the game, but I dislike the same things you mentioned. I think I might invest in a Thrustmaster or a Cyborg flight stick for the upcoming release, Birds of Steel. I couldn't play on simulation mode on this game with a PS3 controller.
All we should care about is the gameplay, so that usually means: sounds and soundtrack, realism (not graphics) and objectives. The realism in this game is better than what it may seem...
The game is very realistic. On Arcade mode yes it is very un-realistic and many get the 1st impression that it is a fake game built for fun. But if you master the controls of realism/simulation mode, it gets taken to the next level. Your flight control services get damaged, you get red out in Negative G manouvers, you can Snap dangerous but skillful quick manouvers to get the opponent off your six and many more. But I wish the Arcade mode was like this.
MY GT is Brianmp5 and at around 7-8AM GMT or 11-12PM PST we have games of around 6-10 people in each game. We do anything from regulars to free flights.

(and it`s mölders). but you have to see, there were 281 aces on p51 and the german pilots who had the knowledge of using their planes the right way got also shot down (at least parts of them). also, it`s muuch easier to outrun a bf 109 with a d-mustang than outrunning a mustang with a bf 109, even though it`s possible, of course.
As far as Werner Molders(correct spelling), downing 60 Mustangs, that would be difficult. Why, you ask? Molders DIED in 1941, whild the Mustang became operational in 1942..........do the math

@apoblakas interesting that he shot down 60 mustangs when he died in 1941. The first Mustangs weren't delivered to the RAF until 1942, months after his death. I guess he went to the factory and shot the Mustang parts out of the worker's hands. Get your facts straight.
@gyrowave The first flight of the NA Mustang was on October 26, 1940. The first Mustang' 'As' were delivered to the RAF until 1942 and they did not debut with the RAF until May of 1942. Molders died in Novermber of 1941 and never had the chance to fly against the Mustang. However, he had numberous kills against the Spitfire and the IL-2. Maybe the Mustang's resemblance to the Spitfire is confusing people. Molders was a master ace and I do not discredit him, but he did not kill 60 Mustangs.
I don't understand why they can't get this engine for the pc...the pc version is soooo old now. But they decided to come out with a much better version for ps3?
And for those of you asking about the quality of the game, yes for a console game this is as good as it gets and I enjoy the hell out of it. This is coming from somebody who grew up on pc flight sims since the early days. Anybody remember when Jane's was king in this area? WWII Fighters? Fighter Duel? Ahh.....

@apoblakas yes, you`re right. (and it`s mölders). but you have to see, there were 281 aces on p51 and the german pilots who had the knowledge of using their planes the right way got also shot down (at least parts of them). also, it`s muuch easier to outrun a bf 109 with a d-mustang than outrunning a mustang with a bf 109, even though it`s possible, of course.

As far as Werner Molders(correct spelling), downing 60 Mustangs, that would be difficult. Why, you ask? Molders DIED in 1941, whild the Mustang became operational in 1942..........do the math

@legoman5188 The Forgotten Battles is the oldest from this three. The 1946 is the newest version of the Forgotten Battles, it's all the expnasion packs in one, and it's moddable. And this is the Birds Of Prey, a totally new version :D

@apoblakas Np. But you must be confusing him with someone else, because indeed Mölders died in a plane crash whilst on the way to attend to Ernst Udet's funeral in 1941 (who in turn had committed suicide mainly because of pressure from Göring).

@apoblakas interesting that he shot down 60 mustangs when he died in 1941. The first Mustangs weren't delivered to the RAF until 1942, months after his death. I guess he went to the factory and shot the Mustang parts out of the worker's hands. Get your facts straight.

@dltodd1966 something is not right, the documentary says the first mustangs participated in the Battle, so it was possible for that to happen.

@gyrowave The first flight of the NA Mustang was on October 26, 1940. The first Mustang' 'As' were delivered to the RAF until 1942 and they did not debut with the RAF until May of 1942. Molders died in Novermber of 1941 and never had the chance to fly against the Mustang. However, he had numberous kills against the Spitfire and the IL-2. Maybe the Mustang's resemblance to the Spitfire is confusing people. Molders was a master ace and I do not discredit him, but he did not kill 60 Mustangs.

It is very unlikely Werner Mölder shot down over 60 Mustangs, as the production of the "Gustav" started in 1942.
He met his fate in 22nd of november, 1941.

And for those of you asking about the quality of the game, yes for a console game this is as good as it gets and I enjoy the hell out of it. This is coming from somebody who grew up on pc flight sims since the early days. Anybody remember when Jane's was king in this area? WWII Fighters? Fighter Duel? Ahh.....

@gruntythirst77 yeah. im also glad that 1C company made this game, the creators of faces of war and men of war, one of the best ww2 simulator/strategic games. i mean just look at the detail of the aircraft. seriously, men of war has the same graphics and it's on PC only. check out the vids of it, you should like it if you like strategic/simulator ww2 games.
