  • My son is 4 years old now and he loves this song, know this is mostly for babies but as a native spanish speaker attending an american school this has helped him A LOT!! he sings this song all day long. Thank you!!

  • My babyboy likes this... I don't care what anybody else says or think about this... its so helpful and it actually works!

  • Dear Barbara, love u huge! thanks alot for sharing this songs!! Im ur fans!

  • Is there a way to get the cards for this song?

  • I do have some PDF's that you can print out and put on card stock, but it depends on what kind of cards and size you are looking for

  • Is there a way to get the cards for this song?

  • Why am i watching that shit ???

  • thanks my bro is smart

  • This is really helpful for my children. The best one I have seen so far. Thank you for sharing this us.

  • Crying of laughter..

  • Many thanx Barbara, this seems to be the best phonics for my son at the moment, god bless,, its not boring,,, its a very soothing way of teaching and introducing the sounds,, many thanx ,, we plan to watch it for a while now !

  • my 13 months old daughter love this song.

  • YOU AWESOME, MY LITTLE BROTHER VERY LIKE IT AND OLMOST EVERY DAY HE WATCHING........:-) YOU ROCK

  • At my son's preschool they play this and it's SOOO CUTE listening and watching the kids sing, using the sounds, and using ASL to each letter...I'm going to incorperate it in my day care also cuz I think it's GREAT!!!!

  • This is really nice, very visual and catchy!

  • Appreciate your input, but xylophone does not have the proper sound for X. It has a z sound, not an X sound. The whole reason for this song is to give the proper sound of each letter...and it is not an easy process at times. I still appreciate your input.

  • Thanks I really I appreciated... For letter X I thinks is good if u use Xylophone

  • Hi Barbara I live ur learning programs... What about for letter X u can use Xylophone??? Thanks for u help... Thanks to ur programs my boys r in advance in school they aren't in after school so have to do homework with them... and I really use ur programs... Love it

  • i love love love this!

  • We LOVE this version over the newer version, which is equally nice but we're so used to elbow elbow that when the new song said elephant we were a bit sad.

My 21 month old is a slow talker, but ever since we started listening and singing along with your song, she's been singing along and talking more... I love how calm and wonderful your voice is.

  • Thank you Barbara Milne for this! It helped me with my tutoring my stepson.

  • I appreciate your comments. I only have one question about your questioning my choice of using xray. Give me a better word that starts with x and offers the proper sound. I do not believe there is one. Lots of words end in x, but all my phonemic sounds were using the letter as the first letter in the word and I wanted to be consistent with X. Hope you understand my reasoning.

  • fantastic song and video. I only didn't like the choice of word for X

  • this is a nice song 4 my lil bro because he is blind and so he can hear this song and he has it stuck in his head.! lmfao XD

  • My son is autistic and is mostly nonverbal. When he was 3 the only communication he had was to sign for "more". When he would have a meltdown, the one thing I knew would calm him down was watching/listening to this video. Today he says 70+ words and this is the only song he's ever sung. He still loves it and sits completely still for the whole video, often asking to watch it over and over. Something soothing about the melody, vocals and colors/pictures - really works for him. Thank you!

  • Ralry good

  • I was delighted by this song! love it , until i heard the sound for R which is exactly what you are NOT supposed to teach children when they are learning to read!

  • Am sorry you don't like the R sound. There are 2 schools of thought on it and both are used.I offer the one you may prefer on my Sounds Like Learning "apple apple aaa" song that is an updated version with hidden letters. I have been teaching for 40 years and I have learned that there is no one way to teach phonemics. Appreciate your input though! (:. Both videos were approved by the speech pathology department at California State University in Long Beach California.

  • Go to my website at barbaramilnedotcom and check it out. I have the original SOUNDS LIKE FUN CD available, plus DVD of the Letter Sound Song. You can listen to samples of the music on the site. Thank you for your interest!

  • I had the cassette tape version of "Sounds Like Fun" when I was a little girl and listened to it ALL the time...still remember all of the songs. I used it with two of my boys until I couldn't play the tape anymore...I don't know what the new version of the CD sounds like...but is there a way to order the original "Sounds Like Fun" on CD? Would love to have it playing in the background while we do school...

  • I luv it. Thanks.

  • my students love this song thank you:)

  • my sister always says cookeh and tsss tsss tsss when she hears this

  • i like it

  • How can we get the original song above? I'm so used to this one, that the new one just seems odd.

  • Do you wish to purchase the DVD? If so, go to barbaramilnedotcom and check the DVD area. We have several packages that you can purchase, or just the one DVD. Both versions are available, but the new version was created because long time testing in the classroom has shown that the hidden letters help the young mind decode the english language more effectively. But for those who still want the "classic", it is available. Thank you for your interest!

  • My mom used to play your tape for me when I was a baby. Many years later, we still had it and would play it on the old cassette player until it broke. Finally I was able to find a digital copy and now whenever we are in the car my 4 year old tells me "Put on a baby song! I want the Apple Apple A-A-A song!" This one, the opposites song, and the manners one are her favorites. :)

  • My 21 month old son just loves this song. He wakes up in the morning and says, "Apple, a a a," and requests the video many times throughout the day. His vocabulary is exploding now and the voice is so soothing and calm on the video.

  • Thank you for taking the time to comment. This is what makes my work so worthwhile. The first 5 years are the most important years of your child's life as far as foundation and I know my products help. Your son is lucky to have you as a "MOM." Keep up the good work!

  • thumbs up if you got here from "That 70's show theme"

  • i think this is a wonder song, i like a few other were surprise with the different animals and stuff used but its great cos it teaches a child different words not just the basic normal one. thank you.

  • We are from Colombia and my baby loves this song.

  • jasper love this song

  • jasper love this song

  • You know what? mam good pronounciation but,,you have to simplify every letter and sample of the picture....why do you use C for cookie instead of Car or Cat,,,,why do you use of Garden instead of Goat,,,why you use E for Elbow instead of Elephant or Egg.....you to be precise in teaching or sharing like this....but anyway its all comments. goodluck and be simplify things.

  • Thank you for your comments. This song was written in 1981 and has been one of the most popular phonics song of all time. I have several songs that use different animals or characters, but I chose the ones I did because they fit the music better than 1 syllable words like goat, or 3 like elephant. It all has to do with the rhythm of the music and it works for the children. Millions of children have benefited from the song the way it is, but not everyone may be happy with everything.

  • OMG! I'm so very happy to have found this video. 28 years ago I played the cassette for my daughter then purchased the CD version 2 years ago & we are sharing with my granddaughter. It's becoming a family tradition. If you have any links to the other songs, please share!

  • in 31 this is how i learned how to read this morning

  • Some of these letters need to be better. Recommendation...D=Dog, E=Egg, H=Hat,I=Ice L=Lettuce,M=Mom, N=Nickel,O=Owl S=Socks, U=Umbrella, V-Violin, W=Water, Y=Yellow

  • my 1 year old knows all 26 of her letter sounds because of this song!

  • Before you can read a language, you first must be able to speak it. This cassette tape looped in my vehicle for a few years. The children learned the 26 sounds. Then when they attended school, the teachers taught them the visual symbols that matched the sounds. Once the 26 symbols were learned the children were reading on their own in pre-school.

Funny or not, this teaches children how to read.

  • no egg

  • Gay Gay g g g HAHAHAHAH

  • i want to learn about sounds eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • hehe nice :)

  • this video was so good!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My mom was a teacher for many years and used this CD in her classroom. I have been using it with my daughter who is now 3. We love the original version. But my mother and I are curious as to why the sounds to some of the letters were changed in the 2 latest versions from the org. version? For example, the letters D,J,K,R,V and Z all have "uh" added to the end. Rather than "zz, zz, zz" it's "zuh, zuh, zuh". We don't say "zuh-e-bruh", we say "zee-bruh".... or "zuh-ip-er" vs. "zip-er"... ???

  • My 1 year old loves this song!

  • OMG I thought this song was gone! I taught the kids in my daycare the sounds to the letters of the alphabet with this song and they will ONLY adapt to this song, they dont like the others we listen to :). Glad I found it today haha its been on repeat and they love it.

  • This song really helps children learn the alphabet in a fun, educational way! Thanks for uploading this valuable resource :)

  • ok idk how this vid got recommended 2 me but but this is the strangest song ever :( me no likyyyyyyyiywrgvuberiuvyberiugbvu9rebgu briunb

  • if u guys like this video and u lose your internet download DVD videosoft, this will automaticly save the file on the computer. I did this for my brother and he loves it

  • Years back, my wife used to peddle discovery toys. This here song is responsible for all four of my children learning to read, nearly as soon as they hit preschool. Once the song is memorized, then symbols are taught, kids are reading.

  • my niece love this song,

  • my nephew loves this song it helps him with his words..

  • this video made my little alex read..thank you so much for uploading!

  • :] i used to love this song back when i was small and I still do

  • MY daughter is 15 months and she absolutely loves this songs my nieces love it as well...they walk around the house sayning words and sounding out the first letter of the word with this tune..what other resources can you advice that we use so that they may continue learning while enjoying it?

  • If you take a look at the beginning of my video, 2 websites are shown...Discovery Toys and my own. Discovery Toys has the finest educational toys in the world! I have been producing products for them since 1984. My own website has all my products and has sample clips of songs you may look at. Also, check out my other videos on youtube! Thank you for your kind words!

  • Where can I find the original artwork from the cardboard "book" that came with the Discovery tape? I'm 24 and still remember most of the pictures (and listening to this song over and over) but would like to fill in the gaps.

Thank you so much for sharing this song!

    ~Monica-Sophie S.

  • The SOUNDS LIKE FUN CD found on my website has all the original follow along artwork included in the insert. It can not be cardboard, but can be laminated and used just like it was with the tape. Hope this helps. My website is shown at the beginning of the video.

  • Wonderful song! My son who is now 1yr 10 months old totally loves this? He calls it "Do deet" ;). But the most fun thing about this - he knows the alphabet sounds, by beeing so little! Every evening before sleep he asks me to sing "Do deet" and I have to sing the part with "apple apple" and he goes "a a a" and like this till the very end of the song. He even tries to fit in the tune already! And even when he is playing around the house he keeps trying to sing it himself! Thanks so much!!

  • Thank you for your kind words! Please check out my latest version called Apple apple Aaa. It is the same melody, but it offers "hidden letters" in the artwork that helps the child learn to decode even faster and better! Give me your comments on that one, and let em know what your child thinks. I use both versions in my classroom as a change of pace!

  • @barbaramilne hello there...I was wondering how I can play this song on my guitar...can anyone tell me the chords??? I'd like to play this for my kids...

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you! Our ten month old daughter was introduced to this video when she was about 5 months old and we have watched it every day during breakfast. She just loves it! When it disappeared from You Tube, we were all so sad! So happy to see it back! She clapped for it when we played it!

  • We've been using the new one as well but my son is devastated that the original is not there. we play the new one and he knows it is not the same. He is 2. Is there anyway you can put the pictures back as well? We love this song and like to substitute our own words as we are doing things around the house. I even have the 15month old that I babysit singing it. Great song!

  • I am a little confused..this is the original version! I have 3 videos online at this time. The original "Letter Sounds" from SOUNDS LIKE FUN, the new "Apple apple Aaa" from SOUNDS LIKE LEARNING and my opposites book video called "Opposites are Tricky." Please go to my youtube site and see them, then let me know. Thank you!

  • Thank you so much for re-posting!!

  • Thank you Barbara for re-posting your original version. We have been using this version since our baby was born in June 2010. Between reading to our baby, playing this "Alphabet Sounds" video, and encouraging him to coo/babble daily he began speaking very early. He now say's Apple, A Book, Hi, Ok regularly and can repeat other words when spoken too. Not sure if he understands the words at this point but at least he is learning to use his vocal cords. Thank You!

  • They were taken down by accident..sorry..but..please have your child get used to the new updated version with the hidden letters in the artwork. I have found this really helps your child decode and get them ready for reading even better than the first one.

It is also good to show your child a variety of things!
