Prove your worthiness in any number of ways. Complete service with the military esp. overseas combat experience. Become a professional fighter with a good record. Become huge. Make a name as a professional marksman. Go to a bodyguard school.

After that it is all word of mouth and networking/connections to get your jobs.

I just got assigned to our PSD training program for the U.S. Army. Its pretty intense training. I have already seen a lot of familar training we have done in this video. I wasn't really looking forward to the assignment because I didn't know what to expect but so far its awesome and a great change of pace.

@graffsax I only make $7400/month in Oklahoma City doing static protection for an executive and his family, no time off, sick days, or retirement. Either you want to do it or I recommend that you don't. It's not glamorous like the movies make it out to be and you REALLY have to love what you do to stick with it.

there is a huge difference between governmental sector such as CIA and Secret Service, and the private sector such as bodyguards and professional chauffers. In the private sector it is more of a "go out and find clients" type of job rather than a set job and income. as you gain more experience and contacts you will be presented with more cliantell and job opportunities. I'm not sure if all of this is right but i hope it helps

It depends. Some so called "Body Guards" are just glorfied security guards.

Anyone can do a short course and call themselves a bodyguard.

But the top agencys usually only recurit people with spec ops training or some law enforcement experience

Police or any Law Enforcement should be trained in the most elite way possible. If they all were trained the same.. we wouldn't have as many branches.... Swat and blah blah... They'd all be the same.

@VulcanXL Many Officers are swat trained, Many patrol cops, beat cops, all of them have the same amount of training. In the patrol cars now many officers carry the extra gear in the trunk. Beyond the tactical training it is up to the individual officer to get other certifications, and training, and to maintain that lvl of training. The reward is higher pay and higher demand for the skill sets. If you have never been to a police academy please don't comment on lvl of training

You have to be former spec ops, or law enforcement, its very rare that a civllian gets to become a high paid bodyguard, the government and billionaires want the reassurance that they will be looked after and this can only be given by special forces soldiers.
