This joint gave me chills when I first heard it. Ppl say "gangsta rap" led kids to violence....But "Face" never made the shit look glamorous. In a way he might have kept me from doing dumb shit. He kept it real consequences and all So what if he didn't live some of those rhymes. He was a real story-teller that never truly glamorized the violence. Wasn't that what it was about (The Message)? To me listening to Scarface was like reading the newspaper.
Damn when i first heard this song scarface had suicidal thoughts also. Basically alot of rapper's had that in them. Because of the life they lived, i know im one of them. But it's great to listen to them and why they feel that way. SCARFACE IS A LEGEND!!!
You gotta dig deep man. The spirit survives in the underground. Its like the mother fucking hip hop Holocaust now days. Auto tune and fake prison tattoos seem to sell more then true lyricism.
@IRONxMONKEY yea it gone from being on the fringe w loyal fans who'd buy the records., to huge mainstream company involved who dilute rehash belittle the original rhymes an beats ,original even wit a sample PE comin to my town 20 years fear of a black planet...
@Legendcjr37 so true, bro, i remember when i first got this when it came out, i cant beleive a; how long ago that was now, and b; just as you state, what happened to rap?? at least we have this ,albums, if i didnt swap em all for d, and youtube, thank G!!! peace
