I also have another friend who bought a new Miata in '94 and it's still going with over 300k miles on it. . So there is your winner, really. It doesn't matter who is faster, it matters who is smarter, and more fun to drive!

The "roll bars" on this car are only cosmetic..they won't protect you in a rollover. And the roof is entirely made of plastic..so again..no rollover protection.

It's inexpensive to drive and still turns heads. Caution: it's not a streetracer. You will get smoked by family sedans and turbo trucks except around sharp curves and turns.

Sorry for the cliché, but it isn't: The MX-5 is clearly designed for men, much more sporty, RWD, light and very easy to get into the corners. It feels great and you'll never have more fun in any other car (except Lotus and alike).
Same here dude! I got a 08 GT/CS, but my MX5 makes my lowered stang feel like a tank Lol! My stang is brute strength vs my mx5 is so fun to drive. I have lowered my MX5 on Tein springs and have a roadster sport axle back exhaust. I love it!
Also, the MX-5 pedigree is FAR better than the Mini; most reliable and MASSIVE after market; not to mention the countless drives using them for actual racing including racing schools.
I would get the Mazda because it is RWD. I am not a fast driver and don't require a high-performance sportscar. I love how the MX-5 looks and feels like a proper sports car but doesn't have their price tag, drawbacks or showoff-y nature
damn i wanted the Mazda MX5 (called roadster in JP) to win there. just wish it got about 200bhp. im half british but i dislike the mini, apart from the original. there tooo common, probably because they are such a fantastic city car. but still, the mazda looks a lot better in my opinion.
I have a MX5. I feel it's very fast while all the lorries and vans keep overtaking me.
But who cares? It's really fun.
