Nat King Cole would be proud, Gene you can sing anything and make it your own !! I miss your voice on country radio, Wake up Nashville, send all the little girls packing and bring back the Real Country Music we all miss so much !!!!!
@62fut Hi,couldn't agree with you more,This years CMA awards was a farce, none of the winners were real country, only average voices,Nashville has lost its way.
OMG! I've heard this song since I was old enough to remember mama playing the radio on Saturday mornings, as she cleaned house and I've seen Gene Watson at least 50 times if not more, and I have never heard him sing this. Thank you so much for sharing! I don't even think my mama has heard Gene sing this and that's saying a lot.
gene watson is a class act..i was a dj for 22yrs and played so many of gene''s records...the most underated singer i think in country music..i don't know the girl singing harmony but she's great on this song
I wish I could have had Gene Watson singing in MY country diner (the Stilwell Cafe in Stilwell, OK. from 1981 till 1989) I would have been there yet!!!!!
What I wouldnt give to be the one singing with him there. One day I hope I can be at this diner, and in comes Gene, and we could sing together... Well I can dream, cant I . Pat
Loved it! I've never heard Gene sing a "bad" song and this is no exception...nice back up on guitar and backing vocals too, 5*s! Thanks to ramey58 for the share!
Give me a cheeseburger and another beer. Wonderful! It's almost like Gene is in your living room. Thanks, Raymond, for going to the time and trouble to post this great, intimate rendition. And thanks for the share, Margaret. Mark
Absolutely amazing video ! Thank you so much Margaret for sharing this with me. Just to know this great Legion is still allowing us to enjoy his talent is incredible. I envy the fact that you have seen him in person so many times and I only once...:-) Oh well maybe I'll have to start hanging out with you and Joe...LOL
Thanks, GeneWatsonSongs. I hope someone can share a bit more of the story of Larry's Country Diner and Rural TV. Paulina & Mag, did you have the late, great Nat King Cole in your growing up years. I'm thinking Gene did and I'm pleased about that. Some of Cole's songs in addition to Ramblin Rose were Mona Lisa, Fascination, Stardust, Unforgettable, Shine on Harvest Moon, Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer and on and on. Great song and great rendition by Gene. He's again added to My Favorites
My goodness Margaret. Thank you for sending this link. I couldn't believe my good fortune when I saw you had this to share. Gene is just too wonderful, as always. What a treat for everyone in this diner to hear and see him. I wish I'd been there. The little gal sounds good with him. Her harmony seems to fit Gene's voice. The gentleman pickin' the guitar sure does a good job here.. Thanks so much GWS for posting this - another golden treasure. - Paula
Jimmy (The Sheriff) Capps is on guitar, and his wife Michelle is providing the harmony vocals. Jimmy Capps is a country legend and has played lead guitar on all the top artists albums, currently works on the Opry house band and is regarded as the "top guitarist" among the elite
Raymond - thank you for this information about Jimmy Capps and his wife Michelle. I found out that Larry's Country Diner is actually a show, hosting celebrities as a diner, on RFD-TV in Nashville. Each week there will be a show at 6 pm Eastern Standard Time and rerun on Saturday. I can't remember the night it first shows - maybe it's on a Wednesday - but, hopefully, we can receive the show. I am wondering if you or anyone else knows just where we can find this particular channel. Thanks.- Paula
Gene did a very magnificent job on this! Love Jimmy & Michelle. She's a sweetie!

Hi,Thanks Mark [ramey] really wanted to hear this song again from Gene after seeing it a while back.
It stayed in my memory as one of his very best songs, and also an outstanding live performance.
Gene Watson at his very very best.
Thanks for uploading,as he says first time sung live, and never recorded.

What it's all about. Great singing, quiet, subtle instrumentation, all working together with a beautiful song. What's not to like?

Gene can sing any type of music & it turns to magic! Everything he sings is beautiful. He just does not get the recognition he deserves!
