@all the domestic guys saying drop the turbo - The Supra was designed for a turbo. The Camaro wasn't. Don't cry if you roll up and get beat. And likewise, don't be an ass if you win. So what, you spent more money, the Supra is still one of the funnest cars to drive. Not to mention a lot of the import designs make them extremely easy to work on. The 2jz is one of the best motors I have ever dealt with, in both fixing and building. Stock internals can hold 800whp. Think I'll stick with that. : p
Why would you say a Supra in unreliable? It's very reliable. Yes, they are still pricey. But when you sell the Supra in the future it will still have a high value. That's why I bought a 94 Supra instead of another car I wanted, a 2007 Vette. Something like a new Vette is nice, but it doesn't make people do double looks at your car. People see and and go oh.. a new Vette, pretty nice you snob, or old man. When someone sees a Supra and knows what it is, I get hard stares at it.

My camaro is goin on a diet to about 2900 lbs. and i wanna do a front mount turbo, but because i'm still gonna drive it almost everyday i can't go to crazy on the engine and thats why i' gonna try to make it as light as possible
a stock 2jz supra makes 320...stock...with two less cylinders and WAY less displacement, swap those two small twins out for one larger turbo and more power is easily and affordably attainable.
@jmaxwell30 Affordably my ass supras are like 25k you can get a ls1 camaro for 10, you'll be lucky to find a n/a supra in decent condition for that much.
@jmaxwell30 you could also get a 383 stroker kit for fairly cheap or even a 408 stroker kit if you wanna bore the block and a stock ss makes 320 to 335 depending on what year you get and the turbo makes up for the two less cylinders
@jmaxwell30 See, that's not true. 2JZ-GTE is a great engine, don't get me wrong, but they don't come cheap. If you were to professionally build an LS1 or even an LT1 or SBC with the same money, you could probably get the same results.
That said, the 2JZ-GTE already has forged internals and a turbo set up, so it's a lot less labor intensive.
the problem you talk about with a turbo on a lt1 or ls1 is you have to change the compression in order for it to work right and not fuck your motor up. after you do that there is nothing wrong with it, it also looked like that supra sprayed its only a 13.7 sec. car stock, the ss runs 12.9s all day stock with sticky tires. supras are bad ass cars though they can make some serious power
I've heard of a few ringer Trans Ams running 12.9's (probably on slicks)... but most of the reviews and magazines I've read says a stock SS runs mid 13's. Some guy somewhere ran a 12.99 and posted it on the internet now everybody runs around saying stock SS's run 12.9's no problem. I don't buy it.

its not about how many turbos you have. It's about how well the turbos perform. When Toyota let go of the twin turbo engine in favor of the single turbo engine (in 1996 i believe) the power output didn't go down, it actually went up and the car was performing much better.
It's all about what kind of turbo you're talking about. If its a good one, one is enough. Twin turbos aren't necessarily better.

I have a vr6 Corrado and i beat I4 boosted cobalts. SO yes it IS easily possible that a 6cyl 7m-ge non turbo supra can be faster than a boosted cobalt.

And a non turbo supra can beat a boosted cobalt, you obviously know nothing if you think cobalts are fast. a turbod cobalt can be imported v6s or I6's but those engines can also come out on the winning side against a turbod cobalt.

@all the domestic guys saying drop the turbo - The Supra was designed for a turbo. The Camaro wasn't. Don't cry if you roll up and get beat. And likewise, don't be an ass if you win. So what, you spent more money, the Supra is still one of the funnest cars to drive. Not to mention a lot of the import designs make them extremely easy to work on. The 2jz is one of the best motors I have ever dealt with, in both fixing and building. Stock internals can hold 800whp. Think I'll stick with that. : p

Why would you say a Supra in unreliable? It's very reliable. Yes, they are still pricey. But when you sell the Supra in the future it will still have a high value. That's why I bought a 94 Supra instead of another car I wanted, a 2007 Vette. Something like a new Vette is nice, but it doesn't make people do double looks at your car. People see and and go oh.. a new Vette, pretty nice you snob, or old man. When someone sees a Supra and knows what it is, I get hard stares at it.

well they are fast but not reliable so thats the reason why Im not interested to buy one I prefer to modify up to hell a camaro cuz y know it will handle de mods for long and under alot less money. v8´s are a beter bang for your buck and with duravility. y worked with jap cars for long and y am sure of the onrealibilyty they have begining from the weakness in the seals valves the engines burn oil as hell and supras owners sure know that.

a stock 2jz supra makes 320...stock...with two less cylinders and WAY less displacement, swap those two small twins out for one larger turbo and more power is easily and affordably attainable.

@jmaxwell30 See, that's not true. 2JZ-GTE is a great engine, don't get me wrong, but they don't come cheap. If you were to professionally build an LS1 or even an LT1 or SBC with the same money, you could probably get the same results.
That said, the 2JZ-GTE already has forged internals and a turbo set up, so it's a lot less labor intensive.

the problem you talk about with a turbo on a lt1 or ls1 is you have to change the compression in order for it to work right and not fuck your motor up. after you do that there is nothing wrong with it, it also looked like that supra sprayed its only a 13.7 sec. car stock, the ss runs 12.9s all day stock with sticky tires. supras are bad ass cars though they can make some serious power

I've heard of a few ringer Trans Ams running 12.9's (probably on slicks)... but most of the reviews and magazines I've read says a stock SS runs mid 13's. Some guy somewhere ran a 12.99 and posted it on the internet now everybody runs around saying stock SS's run 12.9's no problem. I don't buy it.

its not about how many turbos you have. It's about how well the turbos perform. When Toyota let go of the twin turbo engine in favor of the single turbo engine (in 1996 i believe) the power output didn't go down, it actually went up and the car was performing much better.
It's all about what kind of turbo you're talking about. If its a good one, one is enough. Twin turbos aren't necessarily better.
