  • Charlie bit my Gleetards1

  • She owned a beautiful jewelry store on Madison Ave and 64 St in NYC for many years, she delt with very high end costume jewelry much like Ciro Of Bond St on Fifth Ave. I knew both stores well. Another world, so sad!!!

  • God, she looks like a Gabor!

  • whata gown she had on!!!! wow -

  • The Gabors were such a weird family. Sort of like the 50s version of the Kardashians--famous simply for being famous with no real talent.

  • @stickstr8up1 OMG shut up bitch!!! :D

  • @MELODY59833 That's your response??? "OMG shut up bitch!!! :D" That's it?!? My, what a clever, clever comment! And not at all cliched! You are truly a gifted wordsmith with a true talent for the vernacular. Your work should be translated and published. Tell me...Did you need to obtain a special degree for mastering such an original and complex vocabulary. Or does it just come naturally to you? Your parents must be so proud of your accomplishment!

  • Very high class and no she couldn't say much because of her accent being so distinct. Interesting video and thanks for posting!

  • The Gabor sisters took after their mum!

  • What a Dame Jolie is

  • Should have to speak!

  • Zha Zha resembled her mother.

  • @blueberries4ever *Zsa Zsa, you doughnut.

  • An extremely intelligent, strong, self-directed, ambitious woman with great common sense. She wanted to give her daughters the opportunity for consequential lives. It was up to them to follow through, and did they ever.

  • she keeps nodding and nodding...

  • Jewels grow in the ground.

    They are minerals.

So they gave awrong answer on purpose!

  • @schusterlehrling I think John gave a "no" based on a specific "like a flower" reference.

  • Jolie is 61 here, and she died when she was almost 101 : )

  • @TheRockinCactus she was 63 in this video and she died April 1, 1997 at age 102... almost 103

  • Another Garbor. I´m confused...

  • She was the mother of Magda, Zsa Zsa and Eva! ;)

  • Countess Jolie Gábor Christman de Szigethy, born Jancsi Tilleman! What an adorable lady!

Gabor family was awesome! That's a priceless video, thanks for sharing! That lady lived over 100 years! :D

  • Yes, Jolie lived to be 1004! Incredible in my opinion!!

  • You're right. And I do believe Zsa Zsa will go on the same way. ;)

  • I'm not that sure. Zsa Zsa doesn't walk anymore. Her legs are so still that she had to have a surgery in one of them. She doesn't want to go out and she lost a lot of money because of that Wall Street thief, Bernard Madoff.

  • I heard about her health. But about the money issue... just saw on BBC(recently) that she has raised an action against him, through the Goldstein Law Office and won rights about the money, after proving what Madoff did.

I sincerely wish her the best. Very much admire the Gabors. They were a very emblematic family to the United States and the World, at those days. So sad they've had sad ends.

  • The problem is that not only Zsa Zsa must have imposed an action against Madoff, many other well advised rich people must have done so. So, when the courts order the auction of Madoff's assets, there will not be money enough to return to all people that were fooled. Probably Madoff's inocent employees will get their wages first and then I don't know in what order other people will be paid.

Why do you say the Gabors were a very emblematic family to the US and the world?! Famous, yes...

  • I'd use emblematic to express the image they've built on money, success and fame raised from nothing, since their family had poor origins back in Hungary. Gabors raised an image of distinction and elegance, becoming therefore emblematic to many people. At least in Hungary and Switzerland, countries I've lived, they're very famous and well respected. But yeah, they're not perfect, surely. Who is... ;)

  • DerAdventurer, don't be that sure about the Gabors poor Hungarian background. Remember that still in Hungary one of the girls married a doctor (who later became Greta Garbo's doctor in America), the other a diplomat and Zsa Zsa embraced Burhan Asaf Belge, an important figure in the development of 20th-century Turkey. So, the Gabors weren't exactly regular people. I, for one, would say they raised an image of glamour and beauty, rather than elegance and distinction. They married too many times.

  • Yes, their many marriages sort of rusted that distinction image. Glamour, perhaps, is the best word to describe them. And about the poor heritage, I was talking about Jolie's mother, Mirna Tilleman.

  • DerAdventurer, you really did your homework with the Gabors! How do you know so much? Do you have a book on them?

Isn't it odd that the 3 sisters only produced a daughter, Zsa Zsa's Francesca? Have you seen her? If yes, is she also pretty? Is Francesca rich? I mean, she's a Hilton.

  • Heya! Well, my mother bought a south african book about the Gabors, written in English, when we did live in S.Africa. I remember having read it. Unfortunately we lost the book during our moving to Japan, the country I lived foward. The title is "The Gabors" and it tells their whole story, from 1850 until 1998(when it was written). Their origns, their religion, everything. :) Francesca is rich and handsome. But as much as her mother.

  • oops:

"But NOT as much as her mother"

    lol missed .

  • The Gabors weren't poor. Jolie's husband was a member of the diplomatic corps. The 'girls' had a proper European, pre-WW2 upbringing, including music, singing and dancing (ballet) lessons. Not for the purpose of a career; but to develop them as cultured people

  • ....

AND to enhance their chances of a "good" marriage.

(That's the way it was back then....I'm old enough to remember...Marriage was goal #1 for women....as imposed by society.)

  • I agree that the Gabor sisters achieved wealth and fame. They paid a price with multiple marriages...which was not uncommon for Hollywood. However, such behavior was considered scandalous in most segments of society (at the time).

  • Thanks for your complements, Blanc....

  • When Jolie came to the US she was broke, the wars, economic turmoil in Hungary broke the Gabor family. Jolie borrowed some money from Zsa Zsa/Eva and started her Jewelery Business which turned into a huge success and she reestablished herself financially. Read her autobio sometime, very interesting read

  • my gosh you can see where the girls get their looks.

  • 1957 was the year of Gabor on WML. Zsa Zsa came first, then Eva a few weeks later, then Jolie at the end of the year.

Since Jolie was a jeweler, then the mystery guest is in costume, though hard to tell if it is costume jewelry.

  • Now all that's left is Zsa Zsa. Magda, Jolie, and Eva have all since passed away.

  • eva looks more like her than zsa zsa

  • Mama Gabor is so cute!
