In Chinese culture, the red packet (known as hongbao or ang pow) is a monetary gift given during the Lunar New Year, birthday, wedding and for special occasions.  We can get the red packets before the Lunar New Year usually from banks, private establishment, shops, etc. For you, I believe you could get it from Chinatown?
