  • Thank You Jack for your faith. So many people need to see this. God Bless you and your wife for sharing.

  • Amazing! Only a loving and living God could produce such an attitude under such circumstances. It is produced through the love of Jesus, the only Savior and Lord, Who died on the cross to forgive the sins of mankind. To everyone reading this: ask Jesus right now to be your Lord and Savior, if you have not yet done so. Whether or not to do so is the most important decision of your life, because your eternity depends on it. Amen!

  • Last Monday i was having a pity party until I came home and watched your video.... That is the last pity party I will ever have. You are and inspiration and God is using you in mighty ways. Thank you, and may god bless you and your wife

  • Thank you so much for sharing with us your amazing humour and faith. I too know that God is a loving father, but I've never had to deal with a fraction of the trouble you and Joanne have faced. May God continue to bless you greatly and may you continue to help and inspire others in this way!

  • Stupendous. Thank you so much for sharing your humor, your insight and your inspiration with all who can find you. You are a gift to the world. I hope this video goes totally viral. Every living human being should hear what you have to say. Aloha from Maui.

  • What a special person you are, may God bless you in all that you do!

  • What an amazing video. Jack, I'd say May God bless you, but evidently He has. You are funny and an inspiring witness. That bit about "Quad Abuse -- 'I've heard (my wife and aide say) things no man should ever have to hear" cracked me up!

  • God bless you. I hope that you are okay with this but I will point my clients to you when they feel they cannot go on. I feel that in the short, short 6 months that I have been a therapist, God has blessed me 100x over what I have done for His children and you are a perfect example.

  • Thanks, I really needed this message.

    jim sitton

  • What a great video! So inspirational and funny. I've had my share of hardships and agree. God will help you overcome anything and bring peace. :) God bless us all !

  • I always take so many things for granted and then I saw this video of you.

When something bad happens to me I always say why God, but after looking at this video you inspire me to be a better person with the gifts I have. You are an inspiration to all of us. God Bless You!

  • Hey, Cherrythechair, looks like the six young men have seen The Life of Brian (Monty Python group). Wishing you, Jack and all those with physical challenges. My mum had MS, my dad died of ALS, my brother has Parkinsons, my cousin died of Pancreatic cancer; and I have had my share of challenges as well and often remember Life of Brian where a couple of the guys are nailed to crosses and whistling and singing "Always Look on the bright side of Life!" God Bless and Cheery bye.

  • Jack, May the Peace and Grace of our lord always be with you.

  • Very inspirational - and funny!

  • Jack....You are truly a hero and a "Superman!" Your inner strength far surpasses alot of us. God Bless You!

  • purely awesome. if someone can please tell me what he says at 8:30 after the word tragedies to about 8:37 I am quoting his last few lines for a project and I couldn't quite catch that part. thanks for the help!

  • Hi mizann13, he says "man's inhumanity to man on this earth." Good luck on your project!

  • Oh thank you soo much! Yeah the instant I saw this video I knew I had to do this for a project at my school. It's so incredible! And that quote is so powerful.

  • @rilesriley i think its "man inhumanity demands on this earth."

  • @mizann13 Great idea for a project! Good luck.

  • the words are man's inhumanity to man

  • and all of the tragedies...man's inhumanity to man on this earth...

  • @mizann13 i dont know why alot of these things happen, but I know only one thing for sure .. there is a loving kind God, a heavenly father that cares about us as individuals and with his help and his power. We can cope with any situation that life may bring to us. We can over come our challenges and our problems with his help.

  • Jack, thank you so much for making me laugh. I'm a quadriplegic, too (we call it tetraplegic in the UK). I just love it when the doc. visits and asks me to roll to one side or sit forward. Where do these people go to Med. School. Well, at least I don't have to cook, clean, dust wash etc.. I have someone else to do it all for me! When I was in Stoke Mandeville I heard six newly-paralysed young men singing from their beds. They were singing 'Always look on the bright side of life'! Hey-ho

  • Your story is relevant to all who suffer any life changing issue whether it be from injury to chronic illness. Your questions are shared by so many. However, it is your answers that could be an important awakening for many. We just don't know why things happen.

Life isn't what it's supposed to be. It is what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.

  • thats pretty cool

  • Thanks for the laughs and the inspiration.

  • Wow. What an inspiration!

  • Jack,

My son became a quad in 1984. He had amputations, infections & gangrene; & died in 2000. He went to a comedy club, and told about his amputation & infection in the stump that wouldn't heal. Doctor did surgery. After surgery, the doctor said he used Pig Skin; "It was tougher than human skin". His response was: Are there any "Oink, Oink" side effects? The audience roared...

    Thanks Jack! God Bless!

    Delores Halleck

  • This video truly did "restore my soul." Thank you for sharing.

  • What a spirit this person is! More people need to have this attitude!

  • Uplifting! THANK YOU! ;)

  • Very encouraging!!

  • This coming weekend 14 authors who work with my independent publishing company will meet in Orlando. The agenda was planned...until I saw this video. What a great, encouraging way to start off the first day. Jack is a Vitamin B-12 shot in the arms of any of us who really think life has screwed us over. He's a role model for all of us. I want to personally thank him for being the unpaid speaker I'm having address our gathering. Thanks Jack. Would like to meet you in person one day.

  • "We are hard pressed on everyone side, but not crushed;perflexed, but not in dispair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corithians 4:8-9

What a blessing you are by your spirit, you are everything Paul talks about in Corithians. God Bless you.

  • Thank you, Jack, for reminding us all what a truly beautiful thing it is to be human!

  • If this video does not change one or two individuals, or at least their outlook on life...I don't know what will.

Jack is amazing and an inspiration to us all.

    xxx

Thank you so very much for posting this

  • this is awesome in every sense of the word

  • Without a doubt this is an amazing individual. As a caregiver myself to a disabled husband, please give proper respect to his wife Jo Anne for all she does in her care for him which enables him to get out and perform in public and help him to live a life of quality.

  • My point as yours, Mine with a Traumatic Brain Injury.

We're successful. Look around at others. We can now, Count our Blessings. We are all different. Forget differences. Look at similarities. We made it a diff.

Things happen. Somethings happen to people. Some people make things happen. We've done BOTH!!!

  • Jack, you are a supurb inspiration! How true is is to be grateful for what we have, whatever it is!. God Bless U.

  • How amazing! It's all on how you look at life!

  • This man has such an amazing outlook on life!! Very inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing this video.

  • Brilliant and moving,

  • ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!!

  • Amazing, funny, and inspiring man. Thanks for sharing your humor, insights and love with the world!

  • Jack's strength of spirit is inspiring

  • Finally a positive video on YouTube. Thanx buddy

  • i'm so tired of hearing how depressed everyone is. this video is so uplifting!! we all need to count our blessings and stop complaining about every little part of our lives that doesn't live up to unrealistic expectations. Thank You for a great reminder how wonderful Life is!! :)

  • I am a hospice nurse. This was sent to me by a friend. I can't even begin to say how much credit I give this man! This is amazing. Bless him, I thought that I had just been through a horrible day and this video makes it nothing!

  • If only we all could have the positive, constructive, humorous, and grateful outlook on life that this man has. I'm sure that before the event that caused his paralysis happened, he was also that individual. What an inspiration he is.

  • Absolutely brilliant Making lemonade from lemons

  • Bless your soul Sir for posting this video and that of Jack ... Inspiration to us all. Just when you think you have the world of troubles on your shoulder, there's always someone else that's got it worse than you. Jack is truly an inspiration and bless his wife Joanne too.

  • You will never know what this video has meant to me...keep the love of God alive!

  • We are all Crippled without God in our lives.

I once heard Joni Ericcksen remark. "She wpould rather be wioth god in her wheel chair than without him out of it. It says it all.

  • You're an amazing man .

  • Amazing, truly. Inspires me through my physical troubles. I agree with the comment below mine and to add to that, John 16:33 says - "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble and sorrows. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

  • Wow! My friend sent this to me after my accident. He sets a powerful and positive example, just like my cousin years back (also quad apniac). He's right about not knowing why. Eccl 9:11 says that "time and unforseen occurance befall them all." Nobody's got it made. Stuff just happens jin this world. He's making the best of it.

  • Thank you, sir, for your inspiration and your good humor. May God continue to keep your heart and your mind alive and well. God bless you.

  • This man is wonderful, he's got a great sense of humor and a positive, overcoming attitude. God bless him.

  • Best thing I've seen in recent memory.

  • What amazes me is the timing of receiving the link to this video. I'm going through a bit of a tough time myself. It's encouraging to see a man with faith who has overcome formidible challenges.

  • I have put you on my permanent prayer list. What an inspiration you are to all of us, including myself, who complain about the little things in life that don't matter much.

God bless you and JoAnn, your loving wife and caregiver. I've been a caregiver for over 38 yrs now to several family members, including my adult son, so I say that with deep compassion for you both.

  • When I read the description of this video I thought it would be just another "pop" pyschology type of inspirational video or "power of positive thinking" video. I was very pleasantly surprised to see Jack glorifying His sovereign creator despite his tragic (in our eyes) circumstances. God has given this man and his Godly wife a ministry of suffering. You guys exemplify having true joy no matter the circumstances. Thank you for your powerful witness to the truth! Grace to you.

  • You are a living example of how ATTITUDE is EVERYTHING. And clearly, your attitude flows from your faith in God. Thank you for reminding me that God too has a sense of humor.

  • Shaking my head and counting and re-counting my blessings. Thank you and God bless you

  • I don't know when I've laughed so hard! What an inspiration to us all, religious or not.

  • I hope that Jack knows he's a wonderful inspiration to the world.....God gives us blessings in ways we can't imagine and Jack is truly one of God's blessings to us. Thank God for Jack and thank you for sharing this video....- Pat

  • I had this forwarded from a friend today, what a great blessing to start the day. I agree that I am always amazed at the events that happen in life and why, but I know for sure that without God I couldn't have the peace and hope to deal with them. God is Good! May you keep transforming minds and hearts. Keep posting your speaking engagments as God will continue to make you a more powerful speaker for his glory. Have a blessed Holiday Season.

  • I love you! That's simply all I can say.

    "I wish you enough!"

    Bob

  • I just had to tell you Jack that I am a caregiver for a quad, actually he is the one who forwarded your video to me. It was so amusing to hear someone else saying some of the same things he says to us. God Bless You!

  • What can be said? Thank you Sir. Thank you. God bless you.

  • you are amazing. thank you so much for sharing.

  • love to courage1

LOVE IS ALIVE, GOOD TITTLE FOREVER!

  • I hope Jack sees these comments. What a clean & refreshing "stand-up" ;-) routine. You are an awesome and incredible child of God . . . what a blessing and example you are to others! Thank you for your testimony! Your crown in Heaven will be filled with jewels for all that you do for others on this earth. Thank you so much!

  • Hi! You made a great point - the answer is Yes, I read all the new comments to Jack about once a week on average. Thanks!

  • You are a blessing! I cannot wait to meet you one day in Heaven :-)

  • It is said, "If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it".....You're a beautiful example. I love your sense of humor and personally feel there is a great power of healing from that gift. Thank you Jack.

  • This man is an inspiration to all who moan and groan about their daily lives! I't evident his wonderful humor and strong faith has gotten him through a most difficult and horrible tragedy! You're an awesome person Jack! God bless you!!

  • You Sir are a natural comedien and an utter inspiration to all. Thank you for this excellent video and thanks to David who shared it with us.

Bright stars and hugs..Jan and Susan ♥

  • How is he able to speak if he is on a respirator?

    Any ideas/suggestions people?thanks

  • @benshehzad

The Passy Muir valve permits people to speak while on a respirator. Because the "breaths" are timed, there are brief pauses in his speech during the intake of oxygen. It also depends on the type of respirator - for example, his night-time respirator causes very noticeable breaths that are longer, but when he is on his chair respirator you really don't notice the breaths.

  • What a wonderful message to us all.

    Thank you so much

  • You've always been funny. Thanks for being you and having the energy to get out there. It was an accident, there is no reason why these things happen; God does exists and it is with His help that you're able to comfort others. Thanks Sir.

  • Good job Jack! God bless you.

  • I salute you Jack. I hope this video reaches as many people as possible. Many with much less afflictions surrender and lose hope. May you serve as an inspiration to many.

  • Jack,

You are the strongest, brave-est man I've ever seen. What an inspiration you are to so many. You do it better than anyone else I know! God Bless you and Joann!

    vicki

  • Jack,

Look up the definition of humble in the dictionary, and there's your picture. God Bless You

  • I like the ending of "I don't know why things happen as they do".

    All I know is God uses everything we are;

all the good, all the bad, all the mishaps and disappointments, all the dreams and feelings and what once was...to understand other people hurts and pains and sorrows so we know we are not alone and that,

Yes there is a God we are eventually going home to, at the end of our days...we are going our Abba Father.

  • Jack,

Thank you for reminding all of us that the most important things in life are hope, love, and humor. Bless your heart.

  • Jack,

You have a wonderful, precious testimony of how God has and is working in your life. It is my belief that God is using you in ways you do know of, and also in many ways you are not aware. One way I'm convinced that God/Christ Jesus is using you, is to draw other paralyzed men & women to Him; I'm sure you have thought a lot about that. Take care Jack. Blessings you in our precious Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.

  • This should be made available to every spinal cord unit in the US. I am sending this to the VA in Tampa as they have a wonderful SCI unit. Sadly the VA blocks YouTube hopefully they will buy the video.

    Very inspiring

  • I am at a loss for words.

  • You have the gifts of humor and perspective. Thank you for your testimony. May God continue to bless you.

  • Superman has nothing on you! You are wonderful and an inspiration to anyone who views this video

  • Jack, thank you for your words of hope and inspiration, and may God continue to carry your burden. Thank you for having the courage to share yourself with us.

  • You are an inspiration Jack!

  • You are an inspiration my friend!

  • Thank you, Jack. You should go on America's Got Talent to share your message.

  • What a testimony and witness for God. God bless you! Wow. So happy men like you are out there and with what you have are an living sacrifice for God. Jesus is Lord, truly. Thank you.

  • A mans man!!!!

  • That was awesome. I'll be passing this along.

  • Outstanding! I believe this will help many. In fact, I will be sending this to a paraplegic friend who is in a bit of a slump & feeling sorry for himself right now. Usually, he's upbeat but lately he's been having a hard time. This video is just the ticket! Bless you!

  • Thank you for your words, and lighthearted attitude Mr. Rushton. At first I didn't know whether to laugh or cry-- and after watching the video I feel uplifted and inspired. Live well.

  • AWESOME!

  • Very good and funny.

  • What a sweetheart. I spent the last two days feeling anxious and lost in my cancer journey. Then this video came into my email box. Thank you for lifting me up and giving me the proper perspective.

  • I am dealing with cancer, and I sometimes get discouraged about the long term possibilities. Jack has helped me realize that there is a lot more to life than focusing on ME. God bless him and his ministry. Hope he has a long life.

  • Amazing Grace!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for this Jack!

  • Jack Rushton was among the creme de la creme before his accident. Having to deal with his current special needs has refined him even further to the point that he and his angelic wife Joanne are amazing and inspirational examples of hope, determination, positive attitude, and service to others. They are at the top of my list of people for whose examples I am grateful when I begin to feel that I have a few challenges from time to time in my own life.

  • fantastic! puts all trivial things into perspective! God blesses this man...and He blesses us with this man,

  • Amazing....May God continue to bless your ministry.

  • I have known this great man for over 10 years. This short video only tells a small part of the goodness of this man. And we must not forget his dear wife. As Jack always says she is a real angel, as she is always harping on him. He was injured almost 19 years ago and is still going strong because of his great attitude and the great demand for his speaking assignments. Also teaches Gospel Doctrine in his Churches Sunday School. Wish everyone could know him personally.

  • How honored you are to know him and what a blessing he must be to you.

  • In more ways than can be counted...but first and foremost I married his daughter!

  • He needs to be on Letterman!

  • Wow...How I wish people like this received even HALF the attention that the airwaves give to the Britney Spears and Paris Hilton's of the world. He is truly inspiring. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • This guy is hilarious!
