i watched my 7 inch bichir kill my baby koi angelfish today :( and im pretty sure he (frankenstein) is taking chunks out of my adult angelfishs fins aswell. im shocked because until today the bichirs usually placid only coming out for meal worms, he now follows fish around the tank, is it true they have poor eyesight because it would explain why hes attracted to angelfish long finage
dude I got my albino bichir today, like 8 hours ago, he's now in the tank with my other fish, including a palma bichir and a senegal bichir... but he's reaaaally calm.. is that normal??
Then my mom had to go and ruin the whole tank by surprising me when I got home from a summer camp with a puffer fish. It actually ate everything except the convicts. I could actually see chunks missing out of the bichirs tail. The garr died first, of course, since the puffer fish liked the surface. Then the bichirs. Then I was so angry and upset that I purposely starved the pufferfish, while the convicts ate algea.
It is surprising though to see 1 aggressive type fish kill another aggressive type fish. It sounds wierd, but aggressive fish get along very well together, I used to have an aggressive tank with 2 bichirs, a juvenile river garr, and 3 convict cichlids. The trick is to zone them off. Garrs are surface swimmers, bichirs are bottom dwellers that surface for air occasionally, and cichlids like to hid in stacked up rocks.
they don't actually chew their food, they can only swallow food whole. If it's as big as their mouth, they'll eat it, same as a bass fish. I'm guessing it was too big for him to stomach.
Are all of those your pets?

Are you sure that the angelfish didn't die naturally? They usually die if they're by themselves, they're too social.
